i was under the impression that the vast majority of people simply dont give a shit
Probably. But it seems like a strange number of people who do care to me.

I think they were trying to set up a utilitarianism vs kantianism sort of thing where there is no objective right solution, but the utilitarian route is clearly the better one in this case.

Literally who?
I don't even believe that you don't know who he is. I think you just want him to feel sad.

Is it just me, or are you changing your profile pic every few seconds?
Edit: Ian, I mean.

It's a thinly veiled socialim vs capitalism argument.
I don't think I know that side of the story. Is it because Edison is sometimes portrayed as a corporate asshat stunting scientific progress for the sake of his own greed?

Speak for yourself, Hamilton is riddled with historical inaccuracies and has made fucking pop culture loving scum who never gave a shit about history act like they're a fucking historian of that age.
Hamilton vs Jefferson rivalry has a far bigger impact on today's world and no one's cared about that one until Hamilton hit Broadway. Sure some people cared about it before Hamilton came out, I did, for one, but I'm just talking about the gen pop. And I don't take huge issue with the historical inaccuracies. It doesn't pretend to be an honest-to-God portrayal of how things went down, and it parodies history more than it tries to recount it. As far as the broad strokes go, I think it actually does justice to the relationships the founders had with each other and the political sentiments of the time, with the exception of how it goes out of its way to make Burr a sympathetic character.

literally the most accessible thing to look smart about
Sounds about right, from the people I hear talk about it most. It's right up there with existential philosophy as far as topics that make you sound like an intellectual even though they're pretty straight forward go.

I mean, I get that Edison was a dick to Tesla, and Tesla was arguably the more impassioned, inspired inventor, but why do people care? It seems like an odd historical rivalry to feel strongly about, since the implications of it don't go further than AC vs DC. Historical rivalries are interesting, for sure, but the Hamilton vs Jefferson rivalry has a far bigger impact on today's world and no one's cared about that one until Hamilton hit Broadway.

I'm pretty sure Jive is also mocking you Deci
I don't think so. For someone to talk about their mom, for the sake of mocking me, that would have to be extremely low.
Yeah, exactly.
What website do you think you're on?
I'm taking my like back then.
No, don't. I'm sorry.

Of course. All of the Republican candidates were just surrogates connected to the same hive mind all along.
A hive mind controlled by John Kasich, who, as we all know, is the puppet of Barron Trump.
And Barron Trump is, of course, the reincarnation of Alexander Hamilton, bent on destroying the Republican and Democratic parties so that the Federalists can rise again.
I should've known from the beginning.

I've always assumed that whenever people here talk like they're alt-right they were just doing it ironically.
After seeing Second Class given a run-around for saying super inoffensive things about how we ought to fight to guarantee equal rights between genders, though, I've started to wonder.
Was this community always a bulwark of regressives, or am I just only now waking up to it?

That would be because all of our discussion was split between spam and talking about Verb's ban. Now that Verb's ban has been discussed to death and few people have the meme power to spam for a month straight, we'll be dead in a week. Thanks, mods.
I feel like we've been saying "we'll be dead in a week" for two and a half years,
That's the meme, you dip.
Sorry, I'm a normie. These things usually need to be explained to me.

I though he could be pretty funny. He would always quote Batman Begins when he saw me post.
Sure the massive Camnator-quote-circlejerk could get kind of annoying, but now that it's gone, I almost want it back.
