wow!
Fuck me. Saving the economy one boomer at a time. I may live in a shithole of a province but I guess I should be thankful that being an isolated degenerate has its perks. Haven't caught any kind of the variations yet, not vaxxed since my heart's a piece of shit. Bromicron climbing out here though, so who knows, maybe I'll catch it and finally get knocked dead.

Would ya believe me if I told you it's been at least a couple years since I read any books? Sucks in earnest, I just pick something up and then drop it. Don't seem to have the enthusiasm I used to.
gonna be brutally honest
i'm surprised any of you read at all
Didn't get my long winded writing from nowhere. I was the fag at the back of the bus for reading asimov and heinlein, tolkein and such when I was a fat little bastard of a kid. I'm surprised you put reading past some of the folk here, barring the possibility that you were being half sarcastic.

Figure it's time to kick the training wheels off and start trying to make my stories. I've got enough tricks and know how, I think. Won't learn if I don't try it out.

If it wasn't for the open world Halo Infinite might be in my top 3 Halo campaigns, but the Ubisoft-esque elements and lack of biomes/environments knock it down.
Otherwise, story is decent if a little messy from having to address Halo 5 in some way but they handled it about as well as they could. Also suffers from Marvel-itis where a lot of the game is more concerned with setting up the next one than just telling a self-contained story.
That was something I was thinking of while playing it. I don't think the open world is a bad thing, it'd be fuckin' stellar if it was nailed properly, which they came close I think. (Think of how ODST would've felt if it had the scale and openness of Infinite's engine). I actually quite like how they addressed the clusterfuck of what five did. Like they did a real good job of making five's plot elements have weight and meaning in terms of repurcussions, but they skipped the likely impossible part of trying to make a game revolving around AI's highjacking forerunner tech and telling everybody to be homies or die. Spoiler Fuckin seriously, half the game I was asking why the fuck the brutes were calling a skirmish on the ring a war and then the game fucking drops that Cortana obliterated their homeworld in the last segments. Like yeah, I guess I'd declare war too on the species that made the thing responsible for making my species suddenly endangered. I think that's the off feeling I got from the game though. Marvel-itis sums it up. It seems like we hit a peak in the story, and then it just gets shut off for next time. (Unless they go take an interesting approach and add more story segments as DLC later on, dunno if I'd be game for that or not though) It's a real shame there weren't more for biomes or environments though. Every section involving underground forerunner stuff felt like a total fever dream though, where almost every structure is familiar in a deja vu kind of way, but all of it was gorgeously captivating without being an eyesore like 4's and 5's. They did a ton of stuff really well in a lot of other areas too. I think they really need to be dropped some praise on their new engine in terms of technical feats they pulled off.

No offshoot forum lasts forever. No forum lasts forever. Age probably doesn't help. Like, three quarters of the people here have lives and those ties are more important than the occassional heartbeat over here.
Once you know everybody, there's nothing new coming in either. In a physical sense, if we all sat down at a restaurant together, we'd be the crowd of people you see that don't say much but just hang out like regulars(assuming that certain members didn't burst into flames in the same room with each other)
Cynical outlook. Honestly the personalities on Bnet and elsewhere were really important to me. And I don't think I'd be where I am today without this site
It's just a question of math and time, considering I've been through the disintigration of many smaller forums. It's an inevitability for smaller forums, unless a very rare event happens and the members end up meeting IRL. You consider it a cycnical outlook only because it's not a nice thought to ponder that faces and people you knew in some sense are gone, and are going to be at some point. Neither would I be in the same position I am now if not for the time spent here, and I think there's a few round here who could say that, better off or worse. But that doesn't negate that the heyday's probably over.

Met some random in multiplayer last night who was in the process of getting wasted with his buddy. Plugged my mic in after sticking around and talked to em. Ended up staying awake until five am talking to the dude.
That's earnestly the best I've felt in about half a year, I think.

Some peeps poked me to download the beta so I did.
All in all it seems really solid with a couple exceptions. I'm still unfamiliar with things, but most weapons seem to be balanced really well with the exception of the hydra.
The bots are actually pretty fucking neat too when you crank the difficulty up to max. I like how they juke and strafe like an actual experienced player would. What I find neat about them is that I don't particularily feel cheated by them if I get gibbed by them, more like I just got juked and missed my aim.
That's a huge step up from how awful the AI was in Halo 5. It makes me wonder, if they can make AI that decent, could they introduce them into firefight or even custom games involving forge mode?

I did another test with the previous image as well, mainly changing the atmosphere but also trying something different with my brush emulation filters. One of the things that's always bothered me a bit is that when I run a filter over an image, there's some parts that I like, and others that I don't. In this image I tried cutting it up into bits and running different filters for each segment, and then putting them all back together again. It's an early test, but I think if I refine it, it'll allow for much more flexability.

Well, here's my thoughts.
Take a business like a grocery store for instance. Add unlimited time to its existence but the owners change because retirement. What is the probability that as time goes on, a corrupt or incopotant owner will eventually take the wheel and drive the business into the ground? The greater the length time, the higher the probability, until it hits one hundred percent.
So this law applies to our hypothetical island. As time goes on, what's the probability that somebody would pick permanent existence at the cost of misery for the others on the island? Same answer as the first. It rises.
However, I have another thought. What's the probability that an individual would pick permanent existence, and go out into the world and do nothing with their infinite time? The probability is high.
Knowing all this, I'd be the first person to pick permanent existence, for several reasons even though hypothetically I'd recoil at the idea of knowing that I condemned 90 or so people to a time of pain until I was ready to hit the off switch.
I could do a lot with infinite time. And I'd do my damndest to put that time to use because other people are paying for it. I'd work my way into all the shitty ass systems we've built as human beings and correct them. Change everything about our systems slowly for the sake of more or less making a better future for human beings outside the island.
When I was sure that I'd done everything I could to progress our world to something better, I'd choose to hit the off switch, having done my work, or find some way to help those back on the island, either by making them die with me or simply freeing them from the torment situation.
The way I see it, even if it's morally rephensible, it isn't about morals, it's a question of raw math. One way or another there will be somebody(more than one) willing to condemn those on the island to suffering. Those people's fates are set in stone then. They will never not avoid the torture option. So the real question is, would I let one of those reprehensible people make the choice and not use their time wisely? Or would I cut them off before they could ever make it, because I at least know I'd devote my existence to something helpful beyond the island?

Managed to scrape myself together and finish some work as a late birthday present for a friendo.
So many birthdays...
Yeah. Then again I know a lot of people I'd like to make something of meaning for.

finally picked up nier automata, excited to try it soon
Yo, I dunno if it's your cup of tea, and it's probably jarring to get into, but if you haven't played Witcher III, you should Verb. Been making my way through it slowly and it just keeps blowing me away for a lot reasons. If you like pondering morals, the game has heaping truckloads of them, plus a shit-ton of great characters and other stuff.
I'm interested in playing it some day, but I'd have to play through the first two Witcher games before I do. As far as I know, those games are only available on PC, so I don't really have the means to jump into this series right now.
I'm sure it's not required for the story to start from the beginning, but it's just how I prefer to play games.
I could swear the second game was on one of the xbox's. But, yeah, I'd earnestly advise either playing the first two or if all else fails, look up a detailed synopsis. I get ya though. Starting mid-way without going through the others always left me with a bit of a sour feeling. The first game played like ass, the second game had writing on par or better than the third, and the third is, honestly, ridiculously solid in terms of production quality on so many levels. I hope you get around to em' some day, because fuck me if you've an eye for good writing, the series will spoil you.

Not good as of late. Something triggered a depression spiral. Think I found out what, but I've been almost powerless to hold it off except to withhold from offing myself. Spent the last month searching for a doctor who's on par or knows more than me in terms of psychology, as I'm out of options, I think. Found the doc, but it's a hell of a process to explain all the shit behind me so that I can pitch him my theories and have him poke holes if there's any.
Weight's dropping below healthy norms and since I've been opening up old mental wounds I've been exhausted and somewhat unstable. Been having massive panic attacks and adrenaline surges. I'm just very tired.

First Souls. One of my favorite moments was finally surviving the trip down the tree vines that led into ash lake, and the second was seeing the kiln of the first flame for the first time. There was a big sense of wonder there for me.
Souls II. The black sheep of the series for sure, but I like that they tried some new things anyway. Power stancing was awesome and added a lot of variety to builds, and the youtube content that came out highlighting ridiculous builds was golden.
Souls III. PvP was mainly where it was at for me. I loved the arena in the DLC and used to be pretty solid at it. I had a build I saw almost nobody use, and it was great because it always seemed to surprise meta players by holding its own against some of the more ridiculous wombo combos that came with the DLC weapons.

If you're that skeptical about vaccines then you might as well just question the entire body of medical science while you're at it. That wouldn't actually be a bad thing. The intended use of the scientific method and in general practicing science encourages skepticism for the sake of refinement.

tbh I think cunt is the term for female.genitals that I find the least gross sounding.
probably my fault
My SO's favorite insult was calling something a cunt. Between her vocab and what I remember of yous, I think I probably associate it with an insult or funny term than anything sexual or clinical.
Since when did you get an SO
Ah. Long time ago. Met her when I was fourteen. She's been dead for nine years now.

>heart problems
See, this is my beef with these right wing rags that disgorge misinformation for clicks. "Heart problems" is such an amorphous and vague term that doesn't really elucidate what the actual condition involves.
A known and considerably rare side effect of Pfizer and Moderna is yeah sure, heart inflammation. Despite the alarming terminology, and what these toilet paper pieces don't tell you is that heart inflammation as a result of vaccination hasn't been proven to be morbidly serious and can be treated with rest and a couple of painkillers. Very few cases actually result in requiring serious medical treatment.
How about some actual data? The EMA analysis of cases found:
Pfizer-BioNTech - 145 cases of myocarditis and 138 cases of pericarditis out of 177m doses given
Moderna - 19 case of myocarditis and 19 cases of pericarditis out of 20 million doses given
Five people died. The review said they were all either elderly or had other health conditions.
The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has also been investigating the link.
It reported: "A consistent pattern of cases occurring more frequently in young males and shortly after the second dose of the vaccines.
"These reports are extremely rare, and the events are typically mild with individuals usually recovering within a short time with standard treatment and rest," it added.
Take the soccer mom ideology out of my thread please.
Take note of pericarditus. It's a disease I picked up back in november(which is apparently a possible obscure side effect of covid)
Carditus isn't lethal, but there's no cure for it. There's an operation where they scrape enflammed tissue from your heart but it's a low success rate. It might just be because my heart's already damaged, but the carditus is constant and it throttles the fuck out of me. It straddles me into a fine line between being disabled, but mobile enough not to qualify for disability.
Carditus comes in many different flavors of severity as well. Although the chances are low from getting it from the pfizer shot at least, it's a really shitty mid-tier side effect to roll. I'd honestly tell you that if I had a choice to take a vaccine to possibly stop me from getting enhanced covid but get carditus as a result, I'd just ask them to kill me instead.
You know, we can talk mathematical chances and odds all day long, but life's showed me repeatedly that no matter the odds you never take chances on anything. One percent chance doesn't give a shit about you when you're the sorry fuck who rolled it.
I admit the toilet paper pieces are garbage, but I think dahuterschuter's reservations touch onto an issue that's not talked about. The advertising campaigns about the vaccinations aren't being straight with people.
I challenge you to go out and talk to people and ask them what they think "immunity" means when they get the covid shot. You might find a higher number of people think they can walk into a cloud of covid particles and they won't get sick. They'll also tell you that the adverts mislead you about taking the vaccine when pregnant, stating that it is "safe" when there's actually no proof yet. At least out where I am, that's the case. A massive amount of mistrust stems from the government's shit ass handling and presentation of everything.
I'm really not sure what you're point is here? All medicines have a cost benefit analysis attached to them, including the most mildest of treatments. You can get potential liver damage from paracetamol, aspirin can thin your blood etc.
The question that medical professionals then have to ask themselves is; do the benefits of said treatment outweigh the potential risks? It's pretty much irrefutable at this point that the yielded benefits of vaccines dwarf any exceptionally rare health risks they may pose to an incredibly small demographic of the population. I don't understand why people have to treat vaccines as this special enigma when they probably take a plethora of other medications unfazed.
My main point is the lack of transparency about things. And that's an overarching flaw of the medical systems in the west. Be it the vaccine quarrels, or medicines we've had for a few decades. It's always pushed or advertised as a net positive, and if you want to adress concerns and look for potential negatives, it falls onto you to have to do the research because negative aspects are usually shuffled into the limelight. If I had to guess as to why there's skeptics about the vaccines, you need to look at the time periods. Take ibuprofin. It's been around for a long time. Most people today have gone from childhood to adulthood knowing that it's around. It also likely came from a time period when the development of medications had less political intrigue and agendas attatched to them. The covid meds've been around for a year. Seven if you count the RNA framework. It's foreign territory to most. Ultimately I think that's why there's such an adverse reaction in the anti-vaxx crowd, or why there's skeptics. There isn't a single thing happening in the world today that doesn't have an agenda in the background or foreground. For anybody heavy on the political spectrum, the moment the brain registers an opposite agenda, the mental barriers go up. It's all just ideologies doing what they do best, being fucking stupid.

Hey, this just begs the question.
What's objectively worse?
Cum or Jizz?
I haven't heard it used in a long time, but I feel like jizz takes the crown, if only because it sounds like the slang stoners would use.
"jizz" isn't great, but it has a couple things going for it
it features two of my favorite sounds when used for "silly" words in the language (a voiced palatal approximant "J" and voiced alveolar fricative "Z"), and brings to mind words like "jolt" and "sizzle," which are words that definitely match the feelings associated with having an orgasm
unlike most sexual slang terms, there's a certain biting humor to the word that brings light to the clumsy, unflattering, and animalistic nature of the male orgasm (for a perfect example of this, throw yourself back to "Jizz in My Pants" by The Lonely Island)—and that, i can somewhat get behind, but it's still not a word that i would ever find myself using
I hate the word pussy. Say vagina.
"vagina" is a horrible word—women to me are in the unfortunate position of having no words for their sexual organs that don't sound either excessively dirty or excessively clinical
"penis" is also fairly clinical, and i don't necessarily love how "dick" sounds, but at least it's a monosyllabic word—"vagina" possesses three of the grossest-sounding syllables in the language, and the fact that it ruins my favorite letter/sound in the process ("V") just sends me over the line
in polite conversation, i generally default to "privates," which has the added benefit of being gender neutral
and would you look at that? it has both a "P" and a "V" together, i literally just noticed that. that's quite nice
Go figure. I always thought vagina had an awful ring to it but couldn't place why. Too clinical's on the money.
