If they do this, then how will the cops make money? But really, that's pretty neat.

But what would happen if someone were to, say, spray paint 88MPH over a 50MPH sign using stencils or something so it looked correct? Would the car know the difference? I think it'd be easier and safer to bind the changes in speed to GPS or something.

It was heavily broken, but now it's functional.
Cool. I guess I'll have to drag my Xbone to Blaze's house to re-download everything, since the 20GB update would take 2 days for me...

They were bad. The first one set the style for the rest of them, which was extremely awkward (in both acting and pacing; at times it seemed forced). The second one was a bit better than the first because of the bigger budget and the "stunningly cardboard" emotionless Bella that Stewart got to play, which meshed well with her limited range of facial expressions.

The third was okay, but it would have been nice to show more of the "bad" vampires' storyline, since those were the only interesting parts. The last one, which was split, somehow still seemed like it was moving too fast, sprinting toward the finale, which was also very lackluster, since none of the actors put enough life into the characters for the viewer to form any sort of attachments to (which is odd and sad with a huge saga). But then again the source material, the last book, read like a 14-year-old's fantasy fan fiction, so...

The Flood / Re: why did challywally get banned?
« on: March 28, 2015, 07:41:56 PM »
That's the thing. I've done it before and nothing happened. I reported Challenger on this many times, and yet he continued.

There's one hell of a double standard here.
Wait, I just heard that you posted your own name on Sep7agon before. Um... is that true?

Because if it is, I'm not sure who's necessarily at fault for your predicament >.>

Not exactly. I made a guess my real name thread in Anarchy. Nuka obviously knew it and it started from there.

If I did post it before I don't know where but I'll redact it, though it's probably too late now.
I vaguely remember that thread, but I do know that you confirmed your name when someone guessed it.

The Flood / Re: why did challywally get banned?

Spoiler
It's indicative of a problem that both Challenger and Verbatim ended up being banned.

It ought to be the job of the moderators to head this shit off at the pass, and ban the instigator/worst offender before it becomes an issue. If you're banning two people involved in the same conversation, you didn't act quick enough.
It's always easy to decide on what should've been done in retrospect. When things start turning sour, our first reaction rarely is to reach for the banhammer right away. We try to talk to people and defuse the situation with a verbal or formal warning. When I did so yesterday night before signing off, I thought the situation was difused. The split thread had been locked and both parties received a warning not to continue the fight in public. This works the vast majority of times.

However, this morning, it turns out that the warnings weren't received all that well and that in a new, similar thread, the exact same argument was starting up again, insults and jabs included. At that point, there's no longer a first instigator or someone who isn't crossing the line. Both parties knew what they were doing. That it went too far, and that we almost had another derailed thread on our hands.

Like LC pointed out, we aren't always around. And in first instance, we always try to settle things without going for a ban or warning straight away.

Furthermore, we've said it time and time again. If you see a post breaking the rules, simply report it. If you choose to instead respond with similar insults and set off a fight that could've easily been prevented, there's a good chance that when the mods get to it, we'll just see both people fighting and breaking the rules. And at that point, we have to treat them fairly and equally. We can't ignore one person's 5 posts that break the rules just because the other guy did so first. This isn't kindergarten. "But he started it" won't get you very far.

So while I agree that this probably could've been dealt with differently, I'm not going to stop trying to settle things in a mature way by giving people the benefit of the doubt, rather than reaching for the banhammer straight away. This works easily the majority times. But Challenger and Verbatim were both crossing the line and were both given enough warnings, which they both chose to ignore until the very end despite having been made very clear that it would result in a ban.[/spoiler]

I'm curious here. Call it a theoretical.

Two people start up a slap fight. A mod takes said slap fight posts out of the thread, and splits the fight into a new contained thread. Here's the wager.

Everybody has to shut the fuck up some time.

I mean as much as somebody can dislike somebody, there's not a fucking chance two people will spend the entire day going at it.

Eventually that candle will go out. Somebody will get tired. Here's the way I figure it. Two sides are having a row. Mod comes in and ding dong bannus them.

That argument is still waiting to pop up again. And if anything, it has more fuel when a mod intervines because both sides are sort of stuck in the mud disliking each other because "but he got me ding dong bannu'd."

Just an idea is all. An argument starts. Mods contain it, separate it, and only said two users can comment in the thread. Sort of like how mods can still talk after the lock. Eventually somebody's going to burn out. Somebody's going to realize that they have a day to go to beyond the computer screen.

They might pick it up again afterwards. But eventually, one side will give out. When that happens, at that point, there's nothing left to be said. Anyway. Just a muse, is all.
That's what PMs are for, mate. Mods have no control over those and so long as they're not harassing in nature, Admins stay away as well (until they're reported).

The first five members who joined should all get a special icon next to their name like mods do.
It'll probably be more like anyone who made an account before November or something. 8)
Aw, that's like everyone

More exclusiveness pls
I do plan to give Mythic++ a special icon as well, but we'll have to see about the original members getting something else besides Pestilence.

I bait people a lot. Thinking back (Halo games and even TF2 as Spy and Engineer) most of my strategy involves playing around corners and misdirecting them with a well-placed hologram or a mini-turret. Basically: act weak to get one enemy player to chase me, then beat up on them.

Gaming / Re: Pokemon OR/AS (and X and Y, probably) genning service
« on: March 26, 2015, 05:33:42 PM »
So what is this fast and easy way to gen these Pokemon? You know, for people who might want to do it themselves instead of waiting on someone else to do it for them.
I use an app called PKHeX to make the Pokemon, and I use a 3DS exploit that allows me to import the Pokemon file into my game by making the file into a QR code and scanning it with the 3DS camera. Unfortunately, recent 3DS system updates have patched this exploit, so this won't work for you if you've recently updated your 3DS. I haven't downloaded this update yet, which is why I can gen in this way.

I don't know of any other way to get the files into your game, but here's a good website for learning about this kind of stuff: http://www.pokedit.com/

How recent was the update? I haven't turned my 3ds on since November I think.
Mine's running 9.4.0-21 U, and I'm able to perform this exploit. If you're below that I know it should work for you.

Dear people,
I have a powersaves and can give you pretty much any pokemon with any stats you want.
I can be reached on steam and this site if you would like to talk to me more about cheating.
I can give you pokemon that're either legit or not depending on whether you need legit ones.
Non-legit ones DO work online against randoms; but if you're a comp person, I can gen a legit version of your dream pokemon.
There is actually an easier way using a pokegen program in the computer, a QR code maker, and a 3DS browser injector exploit. But it only works on certain device firmware, so...

I don't like banning people tbh.

You lie. You love it secretly. <_<
It really has gotten old. Banning people was novel for a month or two, but now it's just like janitor duty: something that has to be done for the site to function.

Or these days it's just a slap on the wrist with warnings. Am I right?
Not anymore, mate.

Before, I really didn't want to be banning folks for small misconduct; we're a tight-knit community and we all know each other. But those small things add up, and before you know it, you have people getting away with stuff they ought not be.

So yeah, I don't know if you've noticed, but people with long warning histories have been getting immediate 4-7 day bans, and if they kept it up it would go to a month, followed by a perma. So I'd have to disagree with you; we're being more critical of people who just don't get it.

I'd moderate.

I don't see that working out for very long. <_<

I mean the last mod was Rocketman before Cheat pretty much said 'Yeeah you suck at this, I'm not seeing it so bye bye"

Because we all know Cheat is a control freak. >_>
That's an enormous and incorrect oversimplification of what happened, mate.

And as for your question on whether or not I want to unleash the beast by promoting Comms... Why would a control freak like me promote someone with a knack for taking down forums to a position of power? ???

This is something new we're trying out, so be sure to read before you go crazy!

Yes, we're starting up a bi-daily chat thread rotation to see how it works out and if it will stay around. That means that this is basically an experiment, so don't consider this a definite staple of Sep7agon just yet. The standard welcome/rules message will follow:

Welcome to the Sep7agon Chat thread! There are a few rules and guidelines for the chat thread that you should be aware of:
  • This chat thread will be locked as soon as the time limit has expired and another will be created in its place.
  • 2 days after a chat thread is locked, it will be deleted to prevent post counts from becoming inflated. Use this schedule to screencap/archive any posts or conversations you don't want deleted.
  • Spam is still not allowed (all the rules are still in place here, except, of course, for the derailment rule). Use the edit button to edit your message and don't stack 3 or more posts in a row.
  • Report posts that break the rules. With the size that this thread will likely grow to, it will become difficult for Ninjas to patrol the thread on their own. They need your help, so report bad behavior.
