Hey uh
What happens to this old place when the Alpha becomes Beta and officially 3.0?
Shutdown? Will the domain change or will both take you to the current septagon.net?
Not asking for archive reasons but wondering in general.
Once we are either out of beta or suuuuper close to being stable, I will make this forum read-only and then attempt to get the wayback machine to archive everything. Eventually this site will close and the domain will redirect to the new site. The server for this environment is actually SUPER expensive compared to the decentralized setup I have for 3.0.

The time has come! Kind of. https://septagon.net/Alpha is live! If you want an invite, just post here and I'll send one to the email you have on file. Otherwise, the rollout will be pretty random.This is an alpha test. The site is missing critical features but it's at a state where I'd like to start getting feedback and also collecting bug reports on the features that are in place. Major features missing: polls, PMs, groups, nameplates, quests, and probably a few other things. All of these will be built eventually. They just aren't ready yet. Report bugs here or in the help forum there. I'll be updating information and making more clarifying answers to questions over there soonish (well... as soon as it's live). Your post data will (well...should...) persist after the alpha. Please try to hack the site  . I believe all the routes are solid but as you know, shit happens. I'd rather know now.

Bans are working.  At this point... I just need to make user profile pages (they will be suuuuper basic at launch and just something so the page doesn't 404) and setup some sort of homepage and we should be good to launch.

Report system is done!  Any Ninja / user with moderation privileges on the board the post exists in will get an alert. Any mod can then close the report or take action on the post (both of which close the report). Thread tools are mostly done! I just need to add the option to delete threads for mods. For users: I'm introducing a new mechanic. You will be able to disavow a thread in order to basically scrub it from your account. I was having trouble figuring out what was fair (because I want users to have 100% control over if their content exists on the site), and letting users delete their thread would let them basically delete other users' posts. With disavow: the thread owner changes from you to ... nobody. It belongs to user 0 (deleted / anonymous). It also deletes your OP. This keeps all other posts in the thread; the OP just gets nuked.  What style for staff do you like more btw? The first is the current implementation and the second is based off the OG / 2.0 colors.

Alerts are done 100%.    I also got board / thread settings at least mostly in place. The only things really missing from the forum stuff that is critical are a report system and a few moderation tools (delete thread, moderate user, etc.) as well as profile pages for navigating to something like u/cheat. I mentioned this but you can tag people in posts:  Once I get the above stuff done I'm going to push through the alpha. PMs / groups will be done post-launch.

I Saw The TV Glow
I won't bother reviewing because I feel like this is a movie that either you completely love or you are completely 'meh' about. I was completely devastated at the end of this film and felt like I was having panic attacks throughout; I had to do a rewatch to catch everything. If you're into stuff like The OA, mind bending stuff, or are part of the LGBT world you gotta try this film.

Alerts are done on the mobile side. I'm gonna post a video in the discord of it in action. The stuff I need to finish is embedding the component on desktop and also I need to make the post preview component that the alert routes to on click (right now if I would click on a notification it would 404 cuz I don't have that page / route setup on a component).

Alerts are working on the server side for replies. I have it kinda like Reddit too (in addition to replies), where the back end will scan posts for up to 3 tags like: u/cheat. Posts will auto link to profiles AND sends a notification to that user.

Oh also: you don't need to worry about getting your email up to date. I modified the invite system temporarily so that any invites coming from my account will tag you as an "Original" Septagon member. I can send invites out manually once the site is up (which will be alongside this one while we're building features and testing).

Quick update cuz I know it's been a sec:
I've finished:
1. Thread / post system, including reply, edit, like, etc.
2. Base inventory system (items are at least available and can be used)
3. Permissions system
4. Invite system (uses inventory system)
Most of the critical functions of the site are complete. I think the things I have to do before making v3 live in an alpha / MVP state are:
1. Post deletion ability
2. Rank-up function (EXP is tracked but I haven't built the listener)
3. PM system (prob the biggest hurtle as I've not started).
4. Front page (likely will just launch with a static homepage)
5. Alerts and linking to alerted posts / threads
6. Moderation tools (at least starting to build them)

Post launch I'd handle:
1. Nameplate system
2. Coup / custom themes
3. Poll support / filtering support for threads
4. Saved threads and profile options like tracking liked posts, etc.
5. Groups and the donation system for supporting the site
6. Anon support for posting without your name.
7. Quests / credit / trading system for items.

I am planning on aggressively paying down my mortgage and get that paid off by end of year and also plan to get to a point with my Pokemon / Yu-Gi-Oh eBay business + my stock investments where I can quit my job.
How long was your mortgage term? Didn't you buy just a few years ago? Well done btw.
I've still got 30 years left on mine.
For 2025, I want to visit a few new places in US.
30 years; bought in 2018. I've been paying like 180% min payment since I started, every month. A couple months ago I started dumping chunks of savings in and the math works out that I can keep doing that and should have it paid off in full by end of next year.
This assumes I can keep my job for most of that time haha.

Thanks! I was lucky. I was able to put like 30% down thanks to my parents, so that's another reason it went so fast haha. I'm definitely aware I'm in a privileged position.

I tried getting the lpObj in the console and sure enough, it does not exist.
I tested in incognito also, same thing. Same thing on my phone too (Chrome browser)
I tested in Free Adblock browser (used on my phone) - that works OK. Is there a problem in chromium based browsers?
Could be; I did test on Safari sooooo. But this site is on life support tbh. I know I've not been giving updates and it's happening a lot slower than I wanted, but I am making steady progress on v3 every week (my mantra is no zero days on the weekend). Eventually you will be able to like stuff.... on the new site lol.

Rewatching the X-Men series with a friend and what a blast origins was/is!
Doesn't deserve the hate it received in my opinion.
Schreiber did a fantastic job portraying Sabertooth.
Sure it had it's flaws (Weapon XI design) then again most movies aren't perfect.
If you haven't watched in a while / never seen ut in yoyr life I reckon give it another shot and let me know how you go.
I actually rewatched all the X-Men movies recently due to Deadpool & Wolverine and Origins is so much better than a lot of the later films like Dark Phoenix or Apocalypse lol.
