Why does he say it like that, though? Hahaha, my friend and I were dying when we heard that.

It's really frustrating because I've put X amount of hours into the game, and I have a lot of the riddler trophies, but if I can't apprehend Riddler, what's the point? The pads where the Bomb Rioter portions are supposed to spawn are simply not there at all. And whenever I go to interrogate someone from Miagani Island (because that's where I'm focussing my efforts) they give me riddle locations on Bleake/Founder's Island.

Edit: Okay, so I figured it out. Until you do your first Bomb Rioter section, the others won't be labled on the map. Find out which island has 1 Bomb Rioter labeled in the bottom left corner of your map, and then focus your efforts on interrogating Riddler informants on that island. After successfully finishing your first Bomb Riot challenge, the islands will now show the correct number of Bomb Rioters left, in the legend. Hope this helps anyone.

Disappointing. I stayed up all night to beat it, so I'm not really in the mood to type up a dissection of the plot and shit.

Collector's Edition Revealed!

Information updated here.

So apparently, MGSV will "close the loop" for Metal Gear. For the millionth time, Kojima states that this will be his final MG game.

Quote

In the video, Kojima suggests this will be his final Metal Gear Solid game.

“With Metal Gear Solid 5, I’m finally closing the loop on that saga,” he said (via Polygon). “In that sense, this will be the final Metal Gear Solid.

“Even if the Metal Gear franchise continues, to me, this is the last Metal Gear.”

After Kojima finishes speaking, the video shows the September 1 release date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC at the end.

My thoughts.

It's kind of bitter-sweet that The Phantom Pain is coming out. I mean, on the one hand, I have a feeling it's going to fulfill Kojima's dream for the series. But on the other hand, he's "finishing" the series in his eyes. It's a damn shame, honestly. I know he says "this is my last Metal Gear" all the time but it feels like he means it this time... IDK, only time will tell.
Also, I totally called that the CE would have a prosthetic arm.

The Flood / What are you philosophies on life and why?
« on: March 01, 2015, 11:03:17 PM »
Views on life and stuff.

Try to avoid "beliefs" or things that don't actively dictate your choices. I want to know why you make a decision.

For example, I don't ever want to spend a moment of my life intentionally doing something I don't want to do. I always want to be making decision that's going to give me the most enjoyment.

This comes from the realisation that life is so frangile and short that you can't waste it doing things you're not about (which for me means post-secondary education and being employed to do something I don't want to do.)

I have no care for my future, and I like it that way.

Go, Flood. Take this as seriously as you want.

Gaming / Best Metal Gear music?
« on: February 27, 2015, 06:17:06 PM »
So for one of my classes I have to create a presentation on a specific genre of music/ artist, and I decided to do Harry Gregson-Williams naturally (and by extension, Metal Gear Solid).

Now, I have to also make a mixtape of a few of his best songs. I'm trying to keep it under 10 minutes, so just clips of each song...

But basically what I'm looking for is recommendations. I already have a few songs on a list, so I'll update as necessary.

Edit: It must be written by Williams. Things like "The Best is Yet to Come" or "Snake Eater" aren't allowed.

Serious / 3, non-negotiable things you look for in a spouse
« on: February 21, 2015, 10:23:08 PM »
We had a discussion in one of my classes last semester about sexuality and stuff, and one question that was asked to us was if there were certain things your significant other would have to abide. In other words, non-negotiable things you would look for in a potential mate. The reasoning for this was that people don't put enough thought into settling down, and they don't realise the comminment they're making, and that is why a lot of marriages are failing.

In the class we had to make 5, but 3 seems more appropriate here.

So, shoot.

For me, it would be:

1: Non-religious
Can't have conflicting ideologies for raising children.

2: Pro-adoption
I don't want biological children. They must be okay with adoption or no children.

3: Must be comfortable with my vegan lifestyle (preferrably a vegan).

Gaming / Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Video Round-up
« on: February 21, 2015, 09:55:31 PM »
A collection of all videos pertaining to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain! I created this thread for those of you who aren't familiar with what the new Metal Gear is offering. Hope I can help with that.

In 2012, a trailer emerged of a new IP called "The Phantom Pain", being developed by Moby Dick Studios.

Am I in hell?
YouTube

It wasn't confirmed to be Metal Gear Solid V at this point, but I mean, it was pretty obvious. I can't recall if MGSV was confirmed within the year, but the next official Metal Gear Solid V trailer comes from GDC 2013.

Start talking, bitch!
YouTube

A bit more story-oriented in that trailer, but a lot of this footage is from Ground Zeroes, the demo that would be released in March of 2014. It serves as a prequel and tutorial for The Phantom Pain. The reasons for this release aren't confirmed, but if you ask me, it's because TPP was taking a long time to craft and Konami needed more money to develop it. It would also, like I said, serve as a tutorial for new and old fans of the series, as it changes up the core gameplay quite a bit. But it's a much needed change, if you ask me.

The next clip we get is from E3 2013. I remember this trailer, clear as day. I was watching it while I was in gym class on my tablet. We were running for 12 minutes around the gym, and there was no way in hell I was missing the Microsoft conference. Anyways, it highlights a lot more content from The Phantom Pain, and gives us some of our first gameplay from the Fox Engine. [It's the extended version, for obvious reasons.]

What took you so long?
YouTube

This is where shit gets interesting. We have a long drought without content (aside from Ground Zeroes), but E3 2014 finally rolls around. And we get this BEAUTY of a trailer for our devotion to Kojima.

AHM NUCLEEEEEERR! AHM WYYYYLLLDD!
YouTube

[FYI, it's the greatest song ever.] In glorious 1080p 60FPS (everything after this point should be in 60FPS). And Kojima continues to deliver, as he then releases a 25-minute long demo of The Phantom Pain. My snake was definitely solid last summer.

You're a legend in the eyes of those who live on the battlefield.
YouTube

This is fantastic, but isn't the highlight of last year's releases. The next gameplay demo we get is from TGS 2014, and it
shows off TPP jungle environment. Another 25-minute demo, this more accurately displays just how versatile and creative Kojima can be with the proper equipment.

Shoot this!
YouTube

At about the 20:00 mark, an enemy helicopter appears. The player tries to use his underbarrel grenade launcher, but realises they have run out. Now, this is where shit gets interesting.

Because of the buddy system, you can tell your partner (in this case, Quiet, the sniper deprived of her words) to shoot a frag grenade mid-air to destroy the helicopter.

Whaaaaaaaat.

If that doesn't get the nanomachines flowing, I don't know what will.

Also at TGS, we get two trailers of the possible buddies you can use in the game: Quiet, a sexy sniper and DD, also known as Diamond Dog, an orphaned wolf trained to be a badass. He/she also has an eye-patch. This perfectly embodies the love and joy Kojima puts into his games, IMO.

DD
It's the circle of life.
YouTube

Quiet
When the time comes, I'll pull the trigger.
YouTube

After that, we get an alternative to the Afghanistan demo at Gamescom, depicting how different each mission can play out.

Go ahead.
YouTube

I particularly like how you can make your horse shit on the road and enemy soldiers will drive over it, resulting in their car spinning out of control. Pretty neat stuff.

Jump to the Playstation Experience, where Metal Gear Online 3 is showcased. It's a player-versus-player gamemode, and seeing as I've never had the pleasure of experiencing Metal Gear Online, I'm really looking forward to this mode.

C'mere, Adam.
YouTube

And that about sums it up. You can find some cutesy little videos about what you can do with the cardboard box and stuff like that, but this pretty much sums everything major up.

Hope you enjoy.

Videos put into spoilers by request.

4/5 Stars - A great game for people with no hands! - May 30th, 2009

I love this game. I don't have any hands, so I was worried the game may be difficult, similar to every other game I've ever played without hands. Boy, was I wrong! This game is 90-100% cutscenes (which are in-game movies that serve, in this case, to further complicate the story.) You don't need hands at all to watch cutscenes, unless you want to skip it, but that will just shorten the wait til the inevitable bad parts of this game (see below). The story is good. It's about a space pirate named One-Eyed Snakes. He's 1000 years old and has robots in his blood to keep him alive. There's a lot of other crazy stuff going on, but I don't want to type it out because I didn't understand it and also I have no hands. My favourite part in the game is when a certain character *SPOILER* gets both his arms cut off and has to kill people with a sword in his teeth *SPOILER END*. I can relate. Except I didn't kill anyone.

Now for the negative aspects, every once in awhile you will be forced to move Snake around to another area. This is almost always easy to accomplish using your toes. But on occasion, you will have to use some kind of weapon or other multi-button task, I usually let my brother do this even though he only has the left half of his brain. This is irritating if you don't have a brother, but a minor quibble as it is only a small part of the game. Overall I give it two thumbs up.

Painfully true, in all honesty.

The Flood / [Character]+[Character]=You
« on: February 20, 2015, 11:58:33 PM »
Name two fictional characters that you identify with (can be mentally or physically, but state which one).

Mentally, I think I would be Naked Snake + Dick Grayson. Naked Snake, because I don't take things too seriously, I'm extremely loyal and I've always been pretty awkward with girls (in the same way that Snake is. It doesn't interfere with his mission, but he isn't as smooth as SS). Dick Grayson because I'm not the brightest candle on the cake but I'm not an idiot either. I also have a thing for redheads, and I'm an acrobat.

Your turn.

475
I was thinking of doing it for awhile... as a big fan of the series, I think it would be a fun thing to do. But I don't wanna waste my time if there's no demand, y'know?

I was thinking of doing something like this:

Dividing up the game into categories to be judged. Such as:

Story:
-Plot
--Events that take place during the game
-Performance
--Actors performance as well as dialogue
-Presentation
--How the game presents itself

Gameplay:
-Controls
--How the player controls (responsiveness, user-friendliness, tutorials, etc.)
-Setting/Atmosphere (Art Style/Music)
--How the above traits add to the game
-Other things like difficulty, level design, etc.

Misc.:
-easter eggs
-little Pet peeves or things I enjoyed
-etc.

I wouldn't rate the game other than like this: play it or don't play it. I would elaborate on why I think you should/shouldn't.

I can also assure you that this will be nostalgia-free. No bias here.

Thoughts?

Gaming / Has anyone played MGS: Portable Ops?
« on: February 14, 2015, 05:56:56 PM »
I haven't but I want to... I'm on a Snake Eater run ATM and want to continue the Big Boss story chronologically. I'll probably get a Vita to play it, too.

Anyways, do you have any opinions on the game or whatever? I've heard mixed things about it, stuff about the controls and story and such... but I think the controls would basically be fixed with the dual analogue sticks on the Vita, right?

Gaming / MGSV: The Phantom Pain could dwarf GTA V's playspace.

Kojima Productions’ Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has been hyped for its massive scale, especially compared to Ground Zeroes. We’ve never really had a direct study of the game world’s size though. That is, until a NeoGAF user analyzed the size of Africa and Afghanistan in The Phantom Pain and how they compare to the size of, say, Grand Theft Auto V’s San Andreas area.
Essentially, they’ll be bigger together with each separate area being 10 to 30 percent less the size of San Andreas. There’s also the fact that each area will be more densely populated in terms of foliage and other environmental features. But don’t take our word for it check out the image below and find out for yourself.

Read more at http://gamingbolt.com/metal-gear-solid-5-is-possibly-so-big-that-it-may-dwarf-gta-5#qmZQE5IPB0ai05Zl.99

*Phantom Pain intensifies*

Thoughts? I already kind of assumed this, and I'm a bit sceptical about this info given my recent experience with Bungie, but I can't help but slowly become more and more hyped for this game.
