Melee tournament tomorrow in the city. I got 4th at a local last week but I'm expecting to win 1 game at best, due to the quality of Melbourne Smashers. I'm mainly using it to learn. Then Sunday is filling out paperwork for a new job and quickly writing up 2 2000 word assignments I left to the last minute again. Fun times.

It's not that people aren't on your wavelength so much as the entire dating scene is full of people so afraid of showing emotion that they try and keep things as casual as possible to avoid scaring others off, with parties being a good environment to play the game. Y'know, that whole 'wait this exact amount of time to text back' shebang? It kind of results in people just associating with each other without involving much of their personal lives so no real connection is never formed.
It'll go a long way in the big picture of your social department if you get comfortable communicating openly with others, but I understand perfectly how hard it can be. There's a big step between pseudocommunity and a genuine one.

From experience, I'd like to encourage cautious optimism. From the 325 applications I submitted from 2013 I netted 8 phone interviews, 5 face-to-face interviews, 2 work trials and 1 successful employment opportunity. This was without a degree but with work experience in IT/Statistics from 2010 onwards, and almost all of them would be considered 'entry-level' jobs, so the context may be completely different for you.
