I've experimented with different results. Generally energy drinks and coffee had me play amazing, but I don't want to have to rely on stuff like that to keep my drive going. Probably why I didnt want to accept the role they played. There are days where im clearly playing bad with fox, on those i need to switch to a secondary or simply not enter the tourney, but I always do. But yeah, generally when singles starts I'm not warmed up until my 3rd set, but now I'm on stream from my very first set, so I feel the need to deliver a great performance every time.
Yeah just use Cloud man Literally everybody (including those who haven't played him) has a pocket Cloud

It's one of those rare gimmicky things that have no value as an approach option ingame and you'd certainly get your ass handed to you if you tried it, yet random noobs who have no idea how to play can get kills with it 100% of the time. Also people who use it to push teammates off a cliff in Zombies are cancer

So 2 things:
Firstly, I'm starting our weekly tournaments here in my hometown tomorrow. I'll be T.Oing and also competing in Smash 4 doubles and singles. No stream yet but hopefully by the second or third tournament we'll have one set up. Pretty excited to get this going, and get our local players to a high enough level to compete with the other cities nearby.
Secondly, I traveled to a monthly in tallahassee like I usually do, and I was playing just awful. I've had smashfests for like 3 days leading up to the tournament and I played phenomenally. But then I get there and it looked as if I hadn't touched the game in a month. So many incorrect inputs. And it sucks because they know I'm a good player and hype me up, but these last 2 tournaments I've bustered hard. I've gone from losing early in winners but plowing through losers, to doing ok in winners but losing my first losers set.
Any tips on consistency? I typically have coffee at these events which really keep me focused and energized, I didn't have anything but water at this most recent tournament.
Tbh maybe pick a less surgical secondary. It's not Melee but Fox is still pretty technical and needs a lot of precision. The best player in my area always plays Marth for his first few matches of SSBM, just so he can throw out safe/rewarding moves in neutral and still take his time finding his groove for when he wants to switch to Spacies/the other top/high tiers. If you used Cloud or Mario as a warmup character it might help you ease into playing a bit better than going full 20XX from the get go, but it varies from person to person. You are one of the best smashers here so I'm surprised you haven't pinpointed the problem yourself yet. I know most 20XX spacies are pretty keen on their hand stretches so maybe take some time each day just to do that.

 Yo guys, I haven't done one of these before and I kinda liked what I've seen of Pip and Verb's playthroughs. I just started playing this so I figured why not make a thread on it.  First, a little backstory on the game; It's an Indie Platformer from the mid 2000's and is freeware for anybody interested, or you can buy the + version on steam for ~$15. It's on a few platforms including 3DS and Mobile too, but I'm sticking with the PC version. I was led into this game by a Video on YouTube featuring one of the tracks as its main audio and I liked it enough to explore further, so here we are: Now, into the playthrough. So far I've put only 10 minutes into the game and I'm really liking it so far. Movement and combat is simple and intuitive, making up for the lack of ingame instruction that most games like to throw in early on. I'm getting the sense that this is going to be a troll game, as I was blown up by a troll door and reverted back to the start of the game a little way in, presumably as a reminder to save after collecting an item. The platform spacing is reasonably precise, demanding a fair bit of skill to reach some Items. Overall though I'm finding it's easy to navigate, not something I've experienced with other 2D platformers. There's some story to it so far as well, as there are constant jumps to a cutscene of a guy at a computer asking for somebody named 'Sue' and references to a villain named 'The Doctor,' who has allegedly been kidnapping and killing members of the Village. A couple of his Minions have already kidnapped someone I befriended so I guess they're assholes tbh, but fighting the guy who remained afterwards was a choice and he seemed chill about me declining the fight and went away without any further fuss. I'll keep updating this thread as I play along.

A couple of years ago I was forced into the Google+ account registration thingy every time I tried to make a comment on YouTube and I didn't know you could skip it. I made the account and now logging in to YT is annoying and takes 50 times longer than it should. Is there a way to split the accounts?

Happy Birthday man, you having a party to celebrate? Even in Aus Twenty-Firsts are pretty big parties despite the legal drinking age being lower here.
Tbh I haven't really had much excitement for birthdays since I was ~9. I think it's more because of the lack of Friend involvement in my parties since I was a kid, as I'm pretty excited for my 21st now. Still definitely don't attach a whole lot of meaning to it though.

Nah, secondary types still factor in. That's what makes Brock so hard to beat in Yellow if you're only using a Pikachu.
Gen I is just a glitchy fuckfest, is all. For one thing, Poison and Bug were made super-effective against each other, which has a lot of people confused, because now, they're not very effective against each other. A complete reversal.
There was also a misleading text glitch in Gen I that caused the "super effective" or "not very effective" text to appear even if the move you picked only did regular damage. This happens when you use Leech Life (a Bug-type move) on a Zubat, which is Poison/Flying, and therefore should only receive normal 1x damage from the move. Instead, the game tells you that it's super effective, because--like you had assumed--it only takes the primary type (Poison) into account for the text roll. The same thing happens if you use a Grass-type move on a Gyarados, an Electric-type move on Zapdos, or a Fighting-type move on Aerodactyl.
It still does the regular 1x amount of damage; it just shows the wrong message. Gen I is silly like that.
Huh, TIL. That's interesting stuff. I knew Gen 1 was janky but damn. Does somebody give you one of the starters before Pewter City? I don't remember being too troubled by Brock in my Yellow playthrough.

In Gen 1 I'm pretty sure the secondary type doesn't have an influence on the effectiveness of an attack. I remember playing through Yellow version a while ago and thinking there were a few super effective hits that should've done no damage anyway.
