2 Melee singles brackets were run last night, went 0-2 in both of them (again) but I feel like I'm starting to get better as a player. Instead of trying to counterpick everybody I've been sticking to Falcon/Sheik to learn Neutral game and stage control better. I think I'll keep getting bodied for 3-4 weeks but after maybe 2 months I can see myself catching up to the top players again. My movement is looking so much better now. Still a fair bit of spaghetti but I'm not dropping anywhere near as many wavedashes, SHFFLs and L-cancels as before. Even landed a few double Knees as well as some silly shit. Won a doubles friendly with a warlock punch lmao.
The scene has really come a long way since the start of the year and I can see all of us going reasonably far in Bracket at BAM9 if any of us decide to go next year. Everybody has made some crazy improvements since we first started running Melee.
We've started videoing a few matches with our phones and will hopefully get a capture card/stream setup soon. The phone cut out 5 seconds before the second grand finals finished. It was so disappointing because it was won with an offstage Falco Shine > Dair and everybody went nuts for it.

But generic indieshit doesn't really count though, and flash games are on the same level as mobile games, so they don't count either. A game has to get some actual publicity before it can be recognized as one of the worst games ever.

Out of the big releases, Destiny is a poor man's Halo that actually costs more to own/play than MCC and 5 combined and there were plenty of buggy/broken launches that were swept under the rug.
Absolute worst is guaranteed to be some unfinished flash game that makes no sense at all and is probably illegal in most countries.

A game of the decade should have an exemplary multiplayer AND single player experience long after its shelf life.
You might think that's an unreasonably high standard, but we're talking game of the decade here.
Combat Evolved/Custom Edition had a pretty big population well into Halo 3's lifespan. It didn't really begin to drop off until Reach launched, and I recall over 50,000 players at peak times during early 2010. Considering its online lasted well over 6 years (and therefore most of the Decade) I'd say it doesn't need to stack up once the Decade has finished. Looking at it now, CE is an incredibly shithouse game to play without a few friends. But it had a lot to offer before the turn of the decade. 'Game of the decade' is pretty loosely defined here. Somebody needs to decide if a game should be judged based on the game experience during its peak compared to other games, what it's like to play now or both.
