The Flood / Re: Sleep
« on: December 23, 2019, 02:44:39 AM »
Main sleeping position for me is on my back because of back pain
I see. I'm tried to sleep on my back recently, and I have hard time falling asleep, but I'm patient. My back hurts as well, and it also sometimes hurts when I try to sleep on it, so I guess I have problems with my posture already. Before that I was sleeping on my sides.

My bed is too soft though so I usually sleep on my stomach to ease the pain
Like cats sometimes do. Maybe I should learn from them. Cats are smarter than human anyway, and are professional sleepers.

because god designed humans very intelligently, there is no optimal sleeping position

they all have their downsides, so you get to pick your poison

personally, i sleep on my stomach because it's the most comfortable for me--it's probably the most unhealthy position, but i don't give a singular fuck
Interesting, I assumed people mostly sleep on a side, and least on a stomach. Since you mentioned that all positions have downsides, can you tell me what do you think they are? Asking because I'm trying to figure what is best for me.

sleeping on your back has to be some dumb christian shit because that doesn't work for me at all
Oh, but imagine, you sleep on your back, you put hands on your heart and sleep like dead in the coffin, all cats surrounding you, and in the morning mom walks past you and you wake up, rise slowly, as from coffin, in surroundings of cats and ask your mom to share secrets. The face that she would make is priceless.

Having regulated sleep is good. From both my experience and talking to other people (including ones with mental issues), having regulated, scheduled sleep is very beneficial for your physical and mental health. Most importantly it benefits your mood.

Now, I lost my regulated sleep, and it shows. My mood went downhill and here I'm writing this thread in sample text on a phone. You can tell that something is wrong when I start to be more social and  suseptible to emotions which is opposed to autonomous and problem solving attitude. Also when I came home  this Friday my mom told me that my face is green.

Anyway, I wanted to ask whether you sleep on your back or side and whether sleeping on back improves your posture.

Diet. I always end up eating poorly even though it always makes me feel awful. If it weren't for portion management and low-moderate exercise I would likely be obese.
Oh, that's interesting. Dedicated diet is something I've always wanted to have, but I don't have knowledge or money, depending on what kind of diet. I tried keto, it seems to went well, but it's very hard diet to support.

I do have some sort of gear in my brain that controls what I eat, so I try to eat what is best for my health as long as I can afford it, but sometimes I really want to go and just eat 300g of fries or big bag of chips and I go and do that, and sometimes I'm just too lazy to cook, so I can skip it. In recent years however I managed to bring the idea of breakfast as necessity to my brain, so I try to have food soon after I wake up.

Exercise is something I wanted to implement as well, and there was perions of time when I went running every next day or at least go for a long walk, but right now is raining season, with bunch of work to do, so it flopped.

I played around with FL Studio and MuLab, but I didn't really tried to learn it, partially because it's hard, partially because all I have is low spec laptop, but maybe in two digit number of years I'll try to...

Now, but I would learn music instruments, I tried to learn guitar, but I haven't learn it. I would like to learn piano or drums, but my piano is out of tune and I don't have knowledge to tune it, and acquiring set of drums would be expensive.

always wanted to, but it's too hard and not rewarding enough
If you have a programs like garageband, and a variety of instrument loops, it's easy to put them together to create a musical harmony.
I heard garageband has problems with copyright.

I've tracked a few songs myself, little punk-lite demos long ago and stuff and one mandolin/banjo piece. But eh, I barely play anything anymore let alone finding the time to compose and record each instrument track, program drums, redo vox about seventy different times, mix, master, export, then leave the file on my hard drive for all eternity and never share it with the world because I suck.
this

also presets and software most of the time costs money

How are you doing?
🤷 taking the good with the bad. Just moved into a new apartment funded entirely by something rather depressing events. At least I'm living in a better area for my psyche.
Depressing events? I'm sorry to hear that, but it's also good to hear you are living in a better place now. Depression is not a good thing and it affects you even when you don't give into it.
Yeah, my dad killed himself a few months ago. I'll probably be dealing with that for the rest of my life, so at least I'm (physically) in a better place to deal with it and better mentally equipped than I would have been at the start of the year.
Oh, that's depressing. It's even more depressing when it happens suddenly, it's shocking. Life, however, usually won't give you time to think about it for too long, at least for first few weeks. Your close person dies and suddenly you have to plan out a funeral, solve some bureaucracy problems. My grandfather died month ago, and when I with mom were mostly done with funeral week after, when we went to visit cemetry my mom falls and breaks her main arm, and now I suddenly have to do all housekeeping on top of writing diploma paper.

... but when it came to business, you failed to put effort into it? Or even worse, you managed to put effort, but results were so miserable by your own standarts that it additionaly double down any left in you motivation to do a thing?

I really dislike that majority of songs are about love or sex. Maybe I'm wrong and there is not that many, but cmon guys, can't you sing about anything else.

What could be even worse is that your favorite song is in another language which you don't understand and then when you finally learned a language and translated it, song text turns out to be bullshit.
