The people investing don't have anything so they can't lose anything.
The only people losing are ones that can already afford to lose millions and still live like kings.
This narrative is really toxic for retail, considering how detached from reality and based on conjecture it is. We don’t know what the current short interest is and we don’t know whether the squeeze will happen. Retail is a small fish now, and even then I saw someone claiming that there were more people selling than buying last week. The fact of the matter is: people throwing their life savings at this price do have something to lose, and if it comes to that you’re not sticking it to billionaires, you’re donating to them.

Personally I have shares and will hold, but I’d hate to see people on here lose money on the advice of a mob of novices.
You guys have life savings? I thought the absolute vast majority are living paycheck to paycheck assuming of course that you did not lose your job due to the pandemic and are waiting for that stimulus cheque.
Don't worry, that's not like Ukraine where prices for gas, electricity, phone, internet etc grow by 17% after New Year so people go out to protest and government backs off for winter (then plans to raise prices even more anyway later) or where workers in kindergarten of my town don't receive salary since December. People in USA even got money support at some point.

As much as everyone hates on the rich fucks, we all want to be them
The idea is not to hate rich, but to love poor

Glad I built mine when I did. Literally a month later, it was scalp-central everywhere and its only getting worse now.

What I don't understand is the demand for next-gen consoles. There's like a whole two games for them at this time. Why not wait for another six months? Ebay is full of listings going three or four times the MSRP - which means that someone is willing to pay that much to play spiderman?
What demand, lol? All I heard is that nobody buys it here in Asia, because PC exists.
I've seen people from Moscow talk about how no one can find a PS5. I think consoles became like the Apple devices. A symbol of status.
Here is Western Europe and also the US, these things are sold out before they even get on shelves.
Sony is a cursed company nowadays anyway, with their headquarters being in Caliphornia and them censoring games, I would rather buy Nintendo or even an Xbox, given all the rumors that Microsoft is planning their move on japanese market.

What are prices for computer parts nowadays?

Good luck getting a GPU
They're all out of stock and any you can find is like 3x MSRP
Everyone in quarantine wants to play VR porn games
I'm fine with running games from past decade at 60 FPS on lowest graphical setting, thanks.

wtf

how long did that take?
It took long on my Intel Celeron, about 4 days with breaks, but I seen people compile and build everything in about 5-10 hours on average. Also I was compiling it on my host linux, so while it was compiling I've been using host as usual. I also ran test suites whenever possible like a sick masochist I am.

So now I have the barebones minimal linux to which I can add stuff as I see fit which is pretty good.

There are also scripts to automate build process but I haven't looked into them.
i use arch btw
Nice, I heard from my friend that arch is pretty nice.

what is linux

ive heard of it but im not very good with computer software and stuff
It's an operating system

whats so special about it
Consists of open source
Highly configurable as well as it's easier to configure due to config files being plain text (because Linux is a UNIX based system) and not regexp bits like in Windows. Lots of customization is avaiable due to that.
Full control over system.
Can be updated while being used unless update touches kernel
Has different filesystem
Although there are a lot of GUI related stuff such as desktop environments for linux, linux doesn't actually need them to work, working in linux usually doesn't rely on GUI; you can control your entire computer for a terminal, and if a bit effort given to get used to the terminal, controling your system through terminal becomes far more efficient and faster than through GUI.
Mainly used by programmers.

Take into an account that I'm also quite a sick masochist, building all packages and running test suites for single each of them on Intel Celeron

why didn't you just install gentoo
cause I wanted to build linux from scratch, it's more familliar way for me to build than gentoo I think

Definitely worst president of modern times for sure.
Worst of America, probably. Not worst out of all in modern times though
I think it's debatable for different reasons. He's got the clown factor going pretty strong though, and he's completely delegitimized the US and destroyed decades of compromises and agreements; though to be fair, global opinion had already been plummeting for a while- but Trump has certainly enshrined the name on the tombstone.
Well, I mean that I just happen to know president worse than Trump in every single way. No matter what bad things Trump done, he can't top current president of Ukraine.

Worst death rate in the world, Britain number one!!!!
At least you have a vaccine.
Do you think Zelensky will sign up for Sputnik V in UA?
I hope not, but I'll never find out really because there is no guarantee that they don't buy it and sell it to us under name of different vaccine. Yeah, but right now they are planning to buy a chinese vaccine that cost 6 times more than one from Oxford and has only 50% effectiveness and buy it not directly but through some company.

Feels like gambling.

Investing is essentially gambling, with an exception. You can make educated moves and deductions, giving you slightly higher odds than if you were to go to casino.
Well, depending on the game you can do educated guesses in gambling as well that will increase your winrate on average, so that isn't much different.
