Oh man, the game is still installing (the damn thing keeps fucking stalling after it hit optimal and I don't know why) but I've seen the original HUD and I really like the one you just linked. Reminds me of XIV a lot.

stormrage isnt a terrible idea if you want to be alliance scum, its the PVE equivalent of illidan (which is a PVP horde dominant server.) alliance is OP in PVP right now, i must add, because humans have a really OP racial active.

healing is pretty low-pressure during levelling content tbh, i took to it like a fish to water and i had never played any MMOs before. none of the addons i recommended are necessary per se but they definitely help clean up your UI and make things much more manageable across the board.

compare this screenshot to your default HUD and decide for yourself which UI seems better.

If I use refer-a-friend, do I need to do stuff with my friend to get the 300% boost or can I just do my own thing and not bother them?

you need to find a friend to do refer-a-friend with. 300% leveling xp. grinding from level 1 until around wrath/cata (70-80) is gonna be a nightmare for you. i would offer to do it but i cant guarantee my availability- ive baited like 4 people into refer a friend benefits with me in the past and have never helped them much at all.

I've tanked in XIV and while I am good at it, it simply isn't for me. I'm aware that DPS queue times are going to makes things a slog, but I really don't want to deal with the pressure of healing or holding aggro.

Quote
my advice: choose a class that can offspec as a healer (druid, priest, paladin, monk, shaman), learn to heal and queue up as a healer in dungeons. dungeons make levelling a lot faster and healers get quick queues. this works for tank specs as well but i would recommend that you not play a tank spec until you learn the basics well, people will rage and wont hesitate to kick you from a dungeon if you dont know how to tank.

Aee any of these necessary for leveling? I use a DPS parser for XIV but I only use it when proging in Alexander Savage. I wasn't planning on worrying about the meta until I reach the late game.

Quote
you're gonna need addons too. blizzard has made it so that the community can make a lot of great improvements to the game through addons. get curse client to download them; i recommend at least these addons for barebones- DeadlyBossMods, GTFO, bartender, tidyplates, skada (for damage/healing information), healbot (makes healing much simpler, there are better addons to do it with but ive always healed with healbot).

I was going to go Stormrage since according to realmpop it's the most active one for NA.

If you ever get back into HW, leveling is super fun, but once you hit 60 you'll see some real stagnation. Endgame 60 is just recycled endgame 50 but with less content and a stricter grind.

You know what's sad? I've been playing FFXIV since day 1. Still, quite a lot left to do. As far as ARR goes. I've barely touched HW. I unsubbed to WoW. Will be back around for Legion. I have some medical bills to pay so I'm not trying to spend money only like 2-3 MMOs all at once anymore. You should enjoy WoW. It's a bit smoother and faster paced than FFXIV. Plenty of content to roll through to obviously. Get with a guild. It will make it more fun.

That's good, there's plenty of stuff to do at 50 considering there was a decent amount of stuff before the 2.X patch series started, and each patch gave you plenty, it should last you even when you get HW because you'll rather be doing 2.X content over 3.X content.

To be fair, I haven't gotten that far in

And I don't have Heavensward yet, I've only reached level 50 in one thing

I'm not disagreeing with you on that, I'm lvl 60 on DRG, BLM, PLD, WAR, and BRD. But you can't deny that there's fuck all to do at lvl 60 except tomestone grind and smash your dick against Alexander Savage every week.

FF XIV is way cooler

As far as MMO's go, with FFXI's population about to be shot in the leg even more this March, XIV being in a insane content drought, and TOR being TOR, the only ship left standing is the one that considers itself a failure despite having 5x the active subscribers (and daily populations) than the previously three mentioned titles combined.

Try and convince me that I'm making a huge mistake.

I always hated Daz. That motherfucker should have gotten demoted, not Recon.

Some moderators (like Recon and TU) outright ignored using the shadow ban feature. Other moderators (like Daz who doesn't deserve the position) is trigger happy with it since there is little to no recourse to it. Don't like a particular user? Just shadow ban them! They'll never know and you get keep them removed for no justifiable reason!

B.net is dead.

Oh.

Damn I hate that shit. Its fucking confusing. :/

Perhaps that wasn't the best solution, but I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who have done much worse.

Please try not to worry about it. There's 3.6 billion women on the planet, shouldn't get too worked up over one.

I called her and left her a pretty long and expletive laced message. I called her all kinds of terrible things because she hurt me.

It's not one of your posts, it's all of them. The system pretends that you can still post, but when you submit a post, no one can see it and it doesn't show up on the post count (ie. if you're shadow banned and you post in a thread with 0 replies, it still shows as zero replies).

You get one of your posts removed without warning and you get banned for an unknown amount of time, and you don't know who did it. It no longer tells you who the mod is that banned you.

You're not alerted when you're banned. Your posts don't even show up as hidden when someone enters a thread, they simply don't exist until when the ban expires, which no one except the ban issuer knows. Daz has used it twice on me in a desperate attempt to kick me off the site because he wanted the forum to be an echo chamber for whatever viewpoint he has.

The fuck is a shadow ban

Sorry, but to me her voice is like nails to a chalkboard. Which is a shame because every other VA for Eva is extremely well done, I feel they really dropped the ball bringing back Tiffany Grant for 2.22 and 3.33.

Tiffany Grant is better because she doesn't stumble through her German lines like an autist.

I personally am one the very small few who holds the complete opposite of the general opinion on anime voice actors. A lot of fans make the claim that they don't sound anything like the character, or that they don't put enough emotion into acting, or that studios should hire full blown actors. The first two can be somewhat justifiable, but the last expectation is complete horseshit. Why should a company hire a full fledged actor when the original creator did not and when the actor is going to charge more for doing literally the same job? Sorry, but I feel a lot of the voice actors for anime are pretty okay in my book. Spice And Wolf, Darker Than Black, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell, these are all shows that have really top notch voice acting.

Another gripe I have with the majority view is that they somehow feel a VA should be personally attached to whatever it is they're doing. They LOVE to talk about how great Asuka's English VA is, but when asked why they usually spout some bullshit like "She's a fan of Eva" or "She likes to watch anime too!" as if that somehow has fucking ANYTHING to do with the job. Sorry, but Asuka's VA sounds like pure shit and her VA isn't somehow better just because she's a fan of the show.

Most anime fans bitch because "muh localization" and are incredibly spiteful. They act as if they're forced to watch the show in the dub when every anime distributor releases the show in Japanese with English subtitles, but then they just go and bitch about the subs "not being accurate" this isn't fucking Nintendo of America and their ligitmate censorship, it's legitimate localization. When watching 2.22 in FUNimation's English sub, there's a point where a character makes the comment "According to our calculations, a chance of a direct hit is over 99%!" with the character actually saying "percent" yet when I watch the "Superior" fan translated rip with "accurate" subs the line is changed to "Our calculations shows a direct hit of over six nines!" You tell me which one sounds more legitimate.

Source on last paragraph: UTW's rip of Evangelion 2.22

A lot of you are anime fanatics so if anyone would be able to give me answers it would be one of you guys.

We all remember your threads on b.net.

Dakimakura is easier to type than body pillow, I bought Eva because it was a good show, not because it was a good anime, and Saber is a good character because she is based off a European legend.

And half my posts on B.net were shitting on anime.
