You mentioned how the IRC was completely different. I'm not saying they're bad people but I'm ultimately going to be sour when I worked to help out these people and not only do they reject it, they lash out against me for it, and then spin doctor me into having been the one that killed the place. I'm glad you enjoyed their company and had some decent friendships with them, the people on TAC that I befriended are the ones that kept away from IRC and the culture that surrounded it. I still talk to Bryan and Nox to this day, almost daily, and I'm sure if I tried hard enough back then, I would've kept my friendship with Jacob. Everyone in IRC though? I'm probably not going to get over that. I'm sorry that you had a bad time, but #tac was one of the few links I still had to the community after b.lind happened. I miss those times, and telling me that they're shit doesn't really change the fact that I had a great time with that group.

My experience was coming onto the forum, seeing nobody making threads (as usual), I'll go and make one, it'll get one or two joke replies via 4chan memeing and then the forum goes back to being dead for about a week. And then after a week, Fogun, or I5Y, or Smota will come and bitch "Ian is shitty fucking admin, LOOK HOW DEAD THE FORUM IS!" And in that very thread when I try to tell them I'm advertising on the mains they have the fucking audacity to sit there and say "Why?! We don't need new users coming in here and ruining what we have!" And then I get demoted by Smota (Who I only promoted to help with the forums) when I call them out on it. You think I'm not going to be fucking angry over that? Ultimately if you're not on their main form of communication at this point in the present, you're much better off because I'm sure whatever it is they're doing now is nothing more than just lurking some niche 4chan board and playing Majong while snickering about stupid "board culture". Take about 20% off there, pal. I don't know if we are talking about TACs here, but I never had a problem with literally any of that. Any time I needed help with something, someone would give an answer. I'll take a shot in the dark and guess that you're a little bitter about how things happened; honestly, I only popped in occasionally to the actual group. The IRC will always be TAC to me, and I have too many fond memories of late night discussions and movie nights to say that it was a terrible place. You had your Bungie group experiences, but I can tell you that the IRC was a different world.

There was no discussion. The forum was dead, you were forced to be apart of IRC or you weren't "really" part of the community. Shounen threads were locked because "Hurr Durr gateway animes of the worst kind" meme bullshit. Someone had an honest question about torrenting or streaming? "HURR LURK MORE". And don't you dare talk about Crunchyroll, that's bannable. If everyone wanted /a/ so badly they should have just gone back to 4chan. I'm not saying it's wrong to have inside jokes or whatever, but when people bitched to me about how "dead" the place was but then complained IMMEDIATELY AFTER about how I was advertising on the mains, that's completely hypocritical. Sitting around and saying an anime community is wrong because it should have focused on anime first and meme spouting second is objectively a problem. And to tell me I should just get up and leave after I spent time there trying to make the community better? The fun times were during Bungie.net's waning days, and directly after when irc was all that was left of the community. There was a lot of actual anime/manga discussion at that point; for whatever was intended, it died as an anime community.

This is ultimately the problem, it became something completely different than what was intended of the group. It was literally just 4chan with Bungie skin which is pointless. They talked about how they were gonna sub an SYD OVA, but all they did was make joke /g/ captures. If you have nostalgic memories of the place, chances are you were part of the problem.
