Cases are entirely cosmetic and does nothing more than reflect the aesthetic choice of the owner. The reason they have the same basic box interior is because it's the ideal structure for all your components. And if you're going to listen to HC and drop to an I5, use the money you save on a SSD for your OS, you'll thank me later. Finding an alright case was hard. They're so boxy and basic

Now, is everything I picked shit? Or did I done good? Everything you picked is fine and they'll all play nice together. I'm not a big fan of the case, but computer cases are almost always a personal cosmetic choice and rarely does anything to the actual functionality. Prepping the case? I also just picked whatever with some of the highest reviews. But I'm terrified to screw something up after all the shit I went through with my laptop. Prepping the case is just shit like adding the fans in the right places and taking out unnecessary stuff like hard drive bays. Mine only took so long cause I added four fans and took out a hard drive bay. Most of your time will probably be spent on cable management. You shouldn't be terrified, five year old kids can build a computer, it just requires time and research and not even that much.

Best game in the franchise Translation: I'm a massive faggot and couldn't even get Gold in H5. Some thing were insanely popular not because they were over-hyped but because they were genuinely good. Halo 3 was the most polished Halo game to date, anyone who says otherwise is denying reality. nigga what's #1? Halo Wars is the worst. And HW2 will be giving it a run for its money.

You can pay someone to put it together for you, but it's incredibly easy. Watch a few guides, work on cable management, take your time and you'll be fine. My build took about seven hours to complete, two hours of that was simply prepping the case.
Also, really good choice in power supply, I have the same exact one and it has served me well with a computer that stays on for months on end.

I don't mind preorder bonuses, what I do mind is preorder bonuses where there's different shit for every store. That was annoying in Halo 4 and it's annoying for FFXV.

Hit historic visit to China was one of the major moments that led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Nixon was already an international pariah and completely ruined. There was no reason to pursue anything else.

One of the more controversial aspects of the political 70s, there is still a lot of arguing over whether Ford was right in his decision.
A lot of people like to claim that Ford did so as a quid pro quo for the presidency. I say, if that were the case, why would Ford carry around in his wallet, a clipping from Burdict vs. The United States as his own source of comfort that he did the right thing? Senator Ted Kennedy initially opposed Ford's pardon but later went on to say history has showed that Ford was correct in his decision.
Do you believe Ford was wrong to do so? Keep in mind no president so far has been convicted yet, and a lot of scholars looks to Ford's pardon claiming that a conviction of a president (at the time) would seriously not only taint the office, but the country as a whole.

Henry Clay conspired with JQA to make sure no one got the minimum electoral votes needed to win, Henry Clay then used his power as Speaker in the House of Representatives to have JQA elected President in exchange to be secretary of state, which was usually the seat people would attain to become President next. This was deemed the Corrupt Bargain as Jackson had won both the popular vote and the most electoral votes (even if it didn't reach the minimum needed) and ultimately this outcome led to JQA being defeated in a near landslide by Jackson in 1828. Fill me in on the 1824 circumstances.

So do you believe 1876 is more similar to 1824 in terms of determining the presidency outside of the ballots and courts? And do you feel after this election anything will change soon with the EC? Yes and no. You're right that Tilden led the popular vote by more than Clinton currently does. But many historians also argue that, had the dispute over electoral votes gone to court like in 2000, Tilden would have won enough of the 20 outstanding votes to win.
But unlike other cases, including 2000, 1876 was essentially resolved with a comprise. Democrats allow Hayes to win the Presidency (while losing the PV), and Hayes would end Reconstruction still ongoing in southern states.
Ultimately, history will never know how 1876 would have gone. Though because of the comprise in awarding states outside of court, and the ongoing count that continues to expand Clinton's lead, I question the direct comparison

Sorry, I just thought you were meaning in terms of sheer amount of PV. 1876 was also one of the most controversial elections; not just because of a popular vote or the electoral college, but because the winner was essentially picked due to support of legislation ending Reconstruction.
I'll write something lengthier once I'm home, but putting results 1876 in comparison to 2016 is comparing apples to a tomato

« on: November 22, 2016, 03:14:15 PM »
What do you mean by scenario? 1876 had a bigger percentage of a PV discrepancy. While everything you said is true, I do believe that 2016 has the largest discrepancy between who won the EC vs popular vote.
As in, Clinton won the PV by a larger margin than any other candidate in this scenario.

Isn't that what federalism is for? Because I'm pretty sure that's what federalism is for. Making a new federal law that actually affects everyone is not easy. While it is true the Congress approves thousands of laws a year, most of them have zero affect on our day to day lives. Hence when there is a major law that will affect us on a personal level (SOPA) they're generally canned. Well see, that's even more fucked up. Why are some states able to be split, but not all of them? If every state were able to split their ballot, we'd have some very different results. Because the individual states hold the right to manage the elections in their borders. It may be an election on a federal level but the federal government gave the process of overseeing the elections to the states. Each state has their own standard for ballots and voting (this was one of the major arguments in Bush Vs. Gore). This also includes how states manage their electoral votes; it's in their state constitutions. We also had a choice between two carbon copy republicans during both of those elections. The point is that TX was a die hard red state for many years straight (and before that, die hard blue). With states constantly changing, candidates have to focus their efforts on a diverse group of locations instead of just "Eh, I'll take New England, CF, and Fl and call it a day."

What was even more surprising was how they were able to make this existing body of government in such a short amount of time (literally only five months) and with all the opposition against it. Fair enough. Founding fathers must have had headaches coming up with all this crap during the constitutional convention. It's all insanely well thought out.

Why the fuck not, though? That's what I'm asking you. Because their preferred policies and laws/way of life doesn't mix with the policies and ways of life in other locations. The fact that a republican vote in California means nothing, and a democratic vote in Texas means nothing.
The fact that not all votes count as much as each other. I will admit that's a reasonable flaw that's been brought up, but keep in mind the EC wasn't always winner take all, and some states still don't have a winner take all system (Maine for example is split this year). Also Texas is a pretty bad example since it swung blue in 08 and 12. In that regard that's the direct part of the direct democracy (hence why the founding fathers did not have it originally as a winner take all system). Everyone lost their shit over the 2000 election too. For the wrong reasons, everyone mostly believes FL caused the election. Well kind of, it was also because Bush was able to flip a die hard blue state (NH). And the fact that is swing states are constantly changing. CF was never considered a swing state until 80s (1988 I believe?), same with TX. We even see this in 2016 with PA going red. With the states constantly changing, the candidate has to keep focusing on the country as a whole instead of just what they believe might get them the win.

Correct, it's a check/balances on the federal level. I would ask why do we only have the electoral college for president, but on all other levels, it is 1 person and 1 vote? Because it's contained to that singular state?

Also everyone is losing their shit about the EC this year as if this has never happened before, it's happened four times beforehand and one time in all our lifetimes (the 2000 election). It happened in 1888, 1876, and 1824 and the only election where there was reports of complaints (before 2000) was 1824, but that was because legitimate corruption occurred during that election.

Because while we're not a direct democracy we're still a democracy and they have just as much of a say as the big states. And what PSU said, the bigger states do have more sway which is why they get bigger EC votes. But the EC is designed so that the winner has to appeal to a balance of everybody, not just the most populous areas. Because they shouldn't dictate the entirety of the country. Policies that work in Manhattan doesn't necessarily work in some rural town in Nevada, but that's exactly what will happen if only big states get a say. Can you come up with a logical reason why they shouldn't be told to fuck off?
Why shouldn't the most populous areas hold more sway?

Absolutely not, people are fucking uneducated if they think we're a direct democracy.
The founding fathers looked back at history and knew that direct democracies never work, they implode on themselves. Direct democracy is two wolves and a single sheep democratically deciding on what's for dinner, we all know that's not a fair choice. The electoral college ensures that the views of the minority choice are balanced with the majority. Without it, everyone who doesn't live in the current big states or swing states are basically told to fuck off.

1. I was in eighth grade when Obama was elected in 2008, I was barely old enough to vote in 2012, I had no idea what was going on for most of his first term. 2. Obamacare's passage in Congress was the most bullshit thing ever "Hurr we need to approve it before we can see what's inside it". Funny that all of the anti Obama protests during the Obamacare debate were totally justified then. Yet, now when they're against your guy, suddenly the protesters are un American.
