Nationalism - patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts.

Anyone, left or right can be Nationalistic.

Racist - We already know the definition (And it's not power + prejudice).

Anyone, left or right can be Racist.

Authoritarian - Literally the top of the Y-Axis in the political spectrum, it's right in the middle between left and right.

This doesn't sound right-wing at all. Please don't confuse a mixture of racism, authoritarianism, and Nationalism with right-wing.

Those are all characteristics of extreme far-right politics.

Literally half the first thread was arguing over the definitions of the voting class (which make up the interests of the people obviously) but I was hard pressed to find actual policies that dictated what stance the Nazis took on economic conditions, all of which ring true with everything posted in my link. Your second link has people contradicting themselves saying "We yeah he did left-wing policies but he still hated communism so he was therefore a capitalist!" Have you read Mein Kampf? The literal word of Hitler?

[My task is to] “convert the German volk (people) to socialism without simply killing off the old individualists”

The only thing he truly hates out of Left-Wing policies is unions, and even then it was simply the abuse of them. A central union organized and controlled by the government was a solution to that problem whereas a die-hard Right-winger would just kill them off.

note that mine is the stance taken by academic historians.

Even Trump should realize most of his support was from the Mid-West and other areas nowhere near DC. The New England area hates him, of course he was going to have a smaller audience. Obama got a huge crowd because DC was surrounded in areas that voted for him.

hitler and the nazi party were extremely right wing.

When Hitler took gained power in 1933, he disliked, among other things, capitalism, unearned incomes, war profits, land speculations, and unfair taxes. All of this influenced the National Socialist Party’s policies for Germany, which turned out to be a good thing for the non-Jewish Germans, yet Jewish Germans suffered.
Quote
One of the most integral parts of Hitler’s domestic policy was his hand in the labor world. All labor unions were disbanded, and laborers were now organized into the National Labor Front, and strikes were now forbidden. Employers still had control and owned land privately, but were under close watch by the government to run their factories a certain way. All Germans had to be put to work, and many public works programs began, including reforestation and swamp drainage projects, housing and superhighways were built. This actually created a stable work environment for the German people, as there was no longer any unemployment. Overall, the labor’s share in the German national income was reduced, but everyone worked and earned a living.

This doesn't sound right-wing at all. Please don't confuse a mixture of racism, authoritarianism, and Nationalism with right-wing.

Well I actually don't know the guy or his beliefs, however the term Fascist and Nazi has been thrown around a lot lately without thought, and I'm talking in general, not just this forum. Also I'm pretty sure Hitler and the Nazis were rather left leaning politically, they were just also super racist and authoritarian.

Keep in mind I can't respond well, I'm on my phone at work.

And Moogles are obnoxious.

You know, come to think of it, I don't see how being a conservative (and therefore "right-wing") Nationalist automatically makes you want to exterminate other races. Unless I missed the part where the definition says you must have a holocaust agenda in your political beliefs, in which case a lot of people have been wrongly called Fascists....oh wait.

Azu, the problem is I'm not saying that I have to agree or like with every artist or their pieces. I completely agree with you there. However with the billions of people we have now in comparison to the previous era, it's folly to deny that there are plenty of individuals who ride on the coat-tails of artists who do makes complex and thought-invoking works. If someone creates a simple work but can't back it up with a reasoning other than to be "Deep" it's clear there was never any intention in the first place.

The problem with art now is we're getting flooded by that, and it's a royal pain in the ass having to filter through it.

the study of art doesn't require that you agree with the thought process of or like the works of every artist in history. I don't give a fuck. I think there are some holes in his thought process too.

Why didn't they get added up to two days?

Verb's ban history for the last 12 months prior to this ban has one day in it and a handful of warnings.

From the start of 2016, through to the start of 2017 he was banned for one day with enough warning points to add up to two days.

A week would have more than sufficed to get the point across.

I never stated that particular piece was without meaning, but if you took a random Joe and slapped him in front of it, he'd be hard pressed to come up with any real meaning to it. And we know a lot of art today has become what I've just mentioned, the joke wouldn't be so popular if that wasn't the case. The artist himself needs a clear message for himself in order to make art, even the concept of nonsense needs such a thing.

Compare that to The Oath of The Horatii where literally anyone could come up with valid meanings to the painting.

lol...

I don't remember anything about titles, so when I inevitably hit Mythic, it's probably gonna be just like Aria's.

I just want to hit Marty so I can BTFO the people who said the site will die before I reach it. Nigga, I was Fabled halfway through my tenure on B.old. If I took my post count super seriously I'd be Marty three times over by now.

I'm not aware of that particular piece in question, I just found it when Googling "Modern Art". However the problem with most modern pieces is: You'll never get an answer into the meaning. Because there is none. It legitimately has no purpose and the artist knows this but hides it under claiming that it's supposed to be "Deep" or that it's "Subjective" and therefore depends on the viewer. The problem is no viewer can get any meaning out of it other than it being bullshit, and every attempted answer is going to be bullshit because it'll be a forced attempt at meaning.

I really do want to understand the artistic qualities of work like this. There must be a legitimate reason why something like that is in the same building as the other work you posted.

You could bring it up with Cheat (or LC since the former is never really around), and keep the message on hand in the case of consistency coming into question.

Bans here are rare, this is a rather close-knit community so we all know the boundaries well which makes it easy to skirt the line. That's the big reason the moderation seems inconsistent, the Mods have to determine just how over the line something is and decide what to do from there.

A fair point, but it could either way. Neither of us know honestly. And I disagree with it being a moot point. Regardless of Verb's unbanning, I'm not focusing on the individual here. This shit could happen again and to any of us, albeit only a few are likely to feel it. Doesn't make it any less fair than beforehand if we just accept the status-quo that any of us can get retro-actively receive a combo-punishment.

I can assure you my scheme of getting people to pay me so I can piss on them is an aesthetic of Capitalism and therefore not Dadaism.

yeah that's like, textbook Dada. is it good art? not unless you have a good angle. but it is art.

He could very well have been informally warned for previous times and we just don't know about it. It's not are place to know about Verb's private interactions with the Mod team.

EDIT: Removed.

I see it as a general rule, 'you can't call it out a foul if no-one's noticed and play has carried on'.

Unless there's been previous warnings about his behaviour to cut that shit out, you can't just say at a random point "right that's it" and ban him for all the other times, otherwise it's setting a precedence for the rest of us so that we can be retroactively banned for shit we did that at the time wasn't called out.

Just because I piss off LC or any of the moderators a bit too much once doesn't warrant all my previous posts being scrutinised for being unruly and then being punished for all of them at once.

Ban/warn for every occurrence then and there, keep the punishments separate (but with previous warnings/bans in mind), or don't ban at all.

I swear we as a group have had this talk before, it's about fucking consistency in moderation.

The Flood / Re: I don't think I "get" art

You're not, modern art is almost completely made up of rip-off artists who are trying to hide their bullshit under the veil of being mentally "complex". It's almost funny how most modern "art" comes from college students where they spend a lot time studying the extraordinary works of the past, only to create intentional wastes of paper and paint. And the argument of "It's supposed to make you feel, and anger is a feeling so it did it's job!" is horseshit and you know it. If I paid an art audience to sit down and then peed all over them, could I call it art? It made them feel in a variety of ways.

Art then:

Art now:

How many people were beat up at both his inaugurations?
How many people were accidentally shot because someone thought an ordinary citizen looked like Obama?
How many of those extremist groups actually went through with their threats?

Bold words coming from cowards and nothing more. The problem here is that we have people who unfortunately don't have whatever was in the heads of those cowards to prevent them from stopping on their actions.

Yeah there totally wasn't a ton of right wing extremist groups calling for and attempting to assassinate Obama.
