Gaming / Re: What's the worst thing you've said about Nintendo...
« on: February 25, 2017, 11:01:33 AM »
Regardless I don't mind saying a lot of negative shit to Reggie about Nintendo. I'm not trying to attack Nintendo here (even if I do think the Switch is bad). However I doubt Nintendo doesn't want to see themselves on the same level of success as Sony and MS, they just have their own views of trying to get them there. Which is something I can applaud them for, as much as I am a fan of my new PS4 and Sony in general, they have been greatly disappointing me in a variety of fields and the XB1 is the biggest insult to a console I've ever seen.

However, everything I've seen come out of Nintendo lately is either unappealing or questionable. I might have been singing a different tune if they didn't botch the release of the NES Classic as that was something that really peaked my interest. I've never owned a Nintendo console outside of a Gameboy Advance and a 3DS; a NESC would've helped get into something I never got to experience outside of daycare when I was little. And I can't see how they could let the release of it just fall flat like it did; it's literally just a Raspberry Pi in a box that has mostly air inside it, not exactly a fortune to craft (niche communities have been doing it for years with the advent of custom PCs).

So when the Wii U flops as hard as it did and with speculation arising as to Nintendo possibly intentionally destroying their NESC release, then couple that with the fact that I was at the mercy of scalpers when I went to buy my own 3DS, I'm going to have a sour taste in my mouth when trying to get into Nintendo products.

Didn't you say in a thread eons ago that the touch-screen for the DS wasn't gimmicky? It was something along the lines of it being an innovative feature that allowed the player to interact with games in a new and interesting way.

Wrong.

Gamecube had the lunchbox build and cute little mini-discs.
N64, obviously, had the 64-bit gimmick.
The DS had the touch screen, which was extremely well-received.
Portability itself was considered a gimmick when the Game Boy was released.
The Virtual Boy was the raw definition of gimmick.

NES and SNES were made before Nintendo found their niche in the industry, because they were on top of the gaming world. Even then, those two systems were rife with gimmicky technology, like mode-7.

Nintendo has always employed gimmicks.

Every console before the Wii wasn't gimmicky.

The gimmicks are done because that's simply Nintendo's MO. They're not just trying to appeal to children--they genuinely believe everyone is going to find them clever, charming, and innovative, because they've always had an admirable "fun first" ethos when it comes to game development. Making a standard, competitive, gimmick-less console simply isn't the Nintendo way.

The Flood / Re: Can someone explain the appeal of unboxing videos
« on: February 25, 2017, 10:09:20 AM »
This kind of. I usually do it for collectors edition I have preordered so I can get a heads up on what I can expect when I get my own since when there's an "Official" ad going over the CE goodies for a game, the video is usually only a one minute long piece of shit that doesn't help me get a glimpse as to what I'm really getting come release date.

Examples include FFT-0 CE and especially FFX/X-2 HD CE for PS3. FFX/X-2 HD was notorious for having like three different CE depending on the region and whether or not it was PS3 or PS4.

I typically watch them before I buy something and if I cannot find a full description of what's included or only vague descriptions and I actually want to see what the stuff looks like.

Dude HCS is sure as shit thriving and is a blast to watch, what are you talking about?

It's what happens when they start trying to please the E-Sports crowd that's never coming back.

If illegal aliens work chances are they have a green card and have nothing to fear as they are here legally. If have children but no paperwork they are eligible for an expedited green card application. Removing people who are going through the necessary process and admittedly exceptionally tedious paperwork have more than every right to be here, but it would be folly to assume every alien in these sanctuary havens is doing so.

hahaha

Sanctuary cities are a good thing. You know why? Because the large majority of these so called illegal aliens work, pay taxes, and have kids who have only ever known America.

But hey who cares about separating families. They're just beaners.

A lot of scholarships get its funds from state/local government, most middle class students can only afford the astronomical costs of college because of that same financial aid. Only upper class families can really afford to pay for college out of pocket.

If you're receiving aid from the government you're not middle class

Yet, I assume you don’t share the same animosity with squirrels that you do with rats, do you? Yet, they’re both rodents, are they not?

I've almost given up on it considering some of the regulars on Serious hate the idea of us even trying to work on space.

Surprised to see this not being discussed especially by the astronomy people.

I think he was trying to express how rare it is in not only the industry but in the workforce in general, to have such a tenure in the company with the same group of people. Too bad he went further and blurted out what we all knew, fucking conman cucks himself on stage.

what the hell was he trying to say, exactly
