Serious / Re: Google fired an engineer over his opinions.

I don't see many people (if any at all) mention the lack of males in nursing fields, which is a pretty high end job yet only 10% are males. Want to know why I'm not trying to be a nurse? Because it doesn't interest me.

Not only is this a shitty PR stunt, but it's another stupid attempt at trying to force a square peg through a round hole. You can start young and train girls to be engineers when they grow up, but can anyone guarantee they'll be happy and that it would what they want? What's the point of gloating about how many females and minorities are in your tech department if they all hate their job and would've rather done something else in life?

No, because their sole purpose is to give women or minority groups a way into typically high end corporate jobs that they want but otherwise find pretty inaccessible. If there's no need for quotas in certain fields, there's not going to be any.

God that pisses me off, it's basically a death sentence for holding the wrong views.

However, even if this is a joke it's scary. What I'm scared for is the false negatives.

Things should be alright as long as the individual keeps their work/personal life separate. For example, no one is going to higher someone who walks into the office with an SS uniform. But on the same token, if a person is posting anonymously on Stormfront and has no linkage to their work, that is of ZERO concern to the company they work for.

Adam may want there to be a connection so that he can feel morally superior by never interacting with them, but it will never happen. Which is why his comments just come off as stupid instead of actually threatening.

This Adam Fletcher individual (who now is a CEO of another software company) has publicly stated (see above image) that he would never work with/employ certain individuals regardless of their merit.

It's not so much that diversity is a problem, but so much as companies turning it into one. Apple (rightfully) got some shit for it a few years back.

YouTube

I don't see why people have a problem with diversity in the first place.

I find it funny how Adam Fletcher makes laughably stupid comments like that, as if he somehow knows if someone is a hostile voice going into an interview. Either he's being incredibly invasive and digging up shit on people before he hires/moves someone to his teams (which I'm sure breaks numerous workplace safety laws), if not then he has no fucking idea and this comment comes off as thuggish and hostile, which does nothing to help his company which has already been suffering a PR disaster for almost half a year now.

I just wish people like him understood that they'll never, ever ban all views you don't like. I mean, what's the point in even fucking living in a world like that? It's just so hilariously stupid....

1 hour between the time the video was posted and the Twitter ban, but I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

It's kind of hard to take this comment seriously when they plan on rolling out new "features" on Youtube that will essentially shutdown political content creators if they're holding an opinion they don't like.

Google executives initially appeared to be caught off guard by the document and the uproar. Danielle Brown, the company's new vice president of diversity and inclusion, posted a response late Saturday that both criticized some of the statements in Damore's missive and said Google sought an "open, inclusive environment" that accommodates multiple political views.

How much was the OW one?

The gang's all here. Need to buy some more. I want to get some authentic Godzilla figures but those cost a fortune.

I'm sure some of you will remember the Gunpla I built a little over a year ago, I have several boxes of new ones but no space so I haven't built them yet. ;_;

Spoiler

Then there's the figure of Midgardsormr that came with the Heavensward CE. It's a nice figure but it doesn't stick to the stand so it can easily fall off....

Spoiler

And lastly I have the Zenos figure that came with the Stormblood CE. I also have a Noctis figure from the FFXV CE and the Noble Team statute, but the cats broke Noble Team and the Noctis figure hasn't left the box so I don't have pics of them.

What are you so afraid of?

Committing social suicide, being judged by others, having the awkwardness between us whenever we interact.

That was my original intent when asking her Sunday to hang out with me yesterday. I stopped short because I was already shaking real bad and hiding half my face behind cardboard.

Her DCfanboy to Marvelfanboy conversion is quite extraordinary.

Did you let her know that rotten tomatoes are paid Marvel shills and all of the marvel movies should have <50%?

The Flood / AMA Iron Man 3 and cute girls
« on: August 08, 2017, 04:27:45 PM »
Spent all day yesterday with the cutie from work I saw Spider-Man with. She's super into Marvel and has me doing "Homework" basically catching up on all the Marvel films I haven't seen.

So right now I'm watching Iron Man 3, and man I don't know what to think about it. I don't like how the main bad guy is just a druggie actor but at least the rest of the plot is coherent.

The Flood / Re: Ian, what happened to Downtown Disney?
« on: August 06, 2017, 09:58:57 AM »
It's called "Disney Springs" (Sounds more stupid IMO) and yes, the property size tripled.

Personally I'm not a fan of it, a lot of the stores are just fashion and clothes and the rest is expensive restaurants. They're trying to make it more like Universal City Walk, and appeal to the Brazilian tourist crowd. The only remnants of Downtown Disney is Marketplace side and West Side, and even then Disney Quest just closed so West Side is even less interesting. I left that location right before it opened up all its new areas but I regularly visit with friends.
