The Flood / Considering taking a course on fashion
« on: April 05, 2018, 10:35:59 PM »
I've been interested in taking something related to fashion design next year. I'm going to work on my sketching skills before I take it, but I'd like to take a course that isn't related to history or education (my major is European History).

The Flood / Color me excited
« on: November 22, 2017, 04:59:37 PM »
June 2018 can't get here soon enough.

This was announced a month or two ago, but the cover art was just unveiled today.

Synopsis
Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader ally against a threat to the Empire in this new novel from bestselling author Timothy Zahn.

The sequel to New York Times bestseller Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances will continue to follow the rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn to the heights of Imperial power—and accompany him into the past, witnessing his first encounter with the man who will one day become Darth Vader.

I just want there to be a segment where Thrawn and Vader do the good cop/bad cop routine.

haha, oh you deluded soul, you unenlightened pagan. no doubt you cannot perceive the obvious connection between Reason and the Divine. unlike you, I am, I daresay, a true Intellectual, and an scholar of the Science of Philosophy, a savant in the Fine Arts of Argument and Scholastic Reasoning. had you any intellect you would clearly see the superiority of Aquinas' reasoning but, it appears that our Lord in his Divine Wisdom knew that even the greatest intellect would be unable to counteract your gross incompetence. I can only assume that, had the blessed friar lived to complete his great work, he would have written an additional treatise on the ignorance of the heathen :^)

The Flood / Favorite Characters?
« on: August 21, 2017, 03:08:28 AM »
What are your favorite characters, or even characters you simply like? The list doesn't necessarily have to be in order, and the choices can be for any reason, be it nostalgia, how well written they are, or simply liking the concept behind the character. Mine are:

Darth Vader

Master Chief John-117

Doomguy (the Doom Slayer)

Boba Fett (his original incarnation; as he appeared in the 1980 version of ESB)

Chaplain Grimaldus

Batman (the TAS version of the character)

Samurai Jack

Aku

The Flood / I Just Finished "A Canticle for Leibowitz"
« on: July 21, 2017, 02:08:58 AM »

I thought it was an excellent read; I would go so far as to say it is one of my favorite science fiction novels.

For those unaware, A Canticle for Leibowitz is a 1960 science fiction novel by Walter M. Miller Jr., centering on the Albertian Order of Leibowitz, a Catholic monastic order based in the American Southwest that has dedicated itself to the preservation of knowledge in the wake of a nuclear holocaust. The novel is separated into three parts, and each part is separated by 600 years, with the novel beginning 600 years after the nuclear holocaust, or the "Flame Deluge". Thus, the events of the novel span eighteen centuries. Its themes include the relationship between church and state, humanity's tendency to repeat its own mistakes, among others. While the book as a whole can be characterized as rather melancholy, it is punctuated by many moments of dry humor, which never failed to get a chuckle out of me.

I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Here's the summary on the back cover of my copy.
"In the Utah Desert, Brother Francis of the Albertian Order of Leibowitz has made a miraculous discovery: the relics of the martyr Isaac Leibowitz himself, including the blessed blueprint and the sacred shopping list. They may provide a bright ray of hope in a terrifying age of darkness, a time of ignorance and genetic monsters that are the unholy aftermath of the Flame Deluge. But as the spellbinding mystery at the core of this novel unfolds, it is the search itself - for meaning, for truth, for love - that offers hope to a humanity teetering on the edge of an abyss"

Oh, and I forgot to mention: the book is one of the inspirations for the Brotherhood of Steel from Fallout, which is how I first heard about the novel.

The Flood / A Fine Addition to My Collection

My newest 1/6 scale figure

Regardless of one's thoughts on the film's quality, I think that many of us can agree that the visual designs were pretty great. I liked the look of the Deathtroopers a lot (despite the edgy name) and wanted one in my small collection.

Finally stopped procrastinating and finished painting my Black Templar Sword Brother, with the exception of a couple tiny details. Now all I have to do is apply terrain to the base, do some detail work on the sword, and apply a matte lacquer spray to the miniature.

I haven't kept up with updates for a long time; has there been any notable progress?
Did the development completely crash when Rocket left?

I bought a copy a long time ago, and now have a decent PC that could actually run it well. I was wondering if it's even worth trying out again.

It's the last season, which isn't all that surprising given how close we're getting to RO/ANH.

So help me if Thrawn dies I will drive to Lucasfilm, barge into the lobby and scream "REEEEEEEEEEEEEE" until I'm removed by security.

The Flood / Race and Attractiveness
« on: April 01, 2017, 03:36:35 AM »
Earlier, TBlocks and I were discussing the factor of race as it applies to how attractive we find others. I said that, while on average I am mostly attracted to Caucasian women, I find pretty colored women to be extremely attractive, to a greater degree than attractive white women.

This is a good example. In my opinion, she's more or less a 9-10/10. I would consider her to be more attractive than her Caucasian counterparts.

I don't really know why, I suppose I like the way darker skin tones look. I also think that natural black women's hair (that curly, vaguely afro-shaped look in the above image) can look quite pretty if done well. As for racial categories I find generally less attractive, I have never thought Asian features to be particularly stunning.

Tblocks and I were interested as to the rest of Sep7agon's thoughts on the topic. Does race play a part in how attractive you find others? If so, how great of a factor is it? What races, and general racial features, do you find aesthetically appealing? Furthermore, aside from certain distinctive racial features what other physical characteristics do you find to be beautiful, such as eye color, hair color, length, style, etc?
