Ghosts was the perfect Call of Duty [with MW3 close behind]. Can't wait to see how much integrity this work of art will have.

In conceptual terms? Pffft, no.
In terms of execution, I just feel like Poe and Finn had far too little screentime together to warrant the relationship they had [though it was obviously performed well + believably by both Boyega and Isaac]. In fact, I'd honestly have preferred it if Finn and Poe were the main characters instead of Rey. 93

Marathon and System Shock. I'd say Destiny but exploring deeper than the game is already almost a requirement to extract any depth from the game's narrative.

Gaming / Re: Say what you want about Halo Reach...« on: December 25, 2015, 02:24:36 PM »
Reach and CE/CEA's MKV are my favorite armor designs in the series. They're so... Spartan-y.
best art style in the entire series, too. only ODST came close to reach's excellent aesthetic decisions. If we're talking general art direction and taking storytelling/theming into account, ODST blows Reach right out of the water. Reach's evolving pallet was still good in that regard, but ODST pretty much perfected its Divine Comedy allegory. 101

Looper was pretty good, and Abrams' praise for the script is obviously a good thing. I'm not particularly worried about the quality of either film, in all honesty. Colin's a good director too, considering how well he dodged blows in JW's script [admittedly he did write them in himself though]. And I feel like a lot of JW's problems [well, my problems with the script] wouldn't be very intense in SW, given the tone of the project. Like, you're not going to have DNA based communication as a problem in Star Wars.
Unless... 102

Gaming / Re: 2015 has been a pretty crap year for gaming« on: December 25, 2015, 02:05:07 PM »Hai Mr. RocketsI know one game isn't enough to save a year, but 2015 is one of the best of all time in my opinion because of this gem: I think this game is truly art. They finally listened to what I've been saying: for flawless gameplay, just remove gameplay altogether. There are no problems with gameplay in a game that doesn't include it. If only my B.Net partner Damien Sandow were here, he'd understand this artistic integrity like no other. 104

Gaming / Re: Halo 5 Story Spoilers (With Images)« on: October 26, 2015, 11:55:57 PM »why the guardians are a thing(they had plenty more effective means of controlling species & worlds.), We haven't seen the full potential of Guardians yet, and they may have simply been to quell smaller rebellions, or even just a remnant of greater Forerunner forces from the Forerunner-Flood war [Forerunner dominion is portrayed as legitimately total, I wouldn't doubt them going to a ridiculous degree to eliminate chaotic variables]. Quote Cortana and Chief shit-talking Halsey when Chief thought of her like a mother Chief doesn't ever say anything negative about her, does he? He just says that his upbringing was given to him without a choice. Perhaps it's negativity by association, but I dunno. Quote and I can't remember Cortana ever hating her, Cortana's line about Halsey in The Breaking is literally a paraphrasing of her inner thoughts as she dug up restricted files on Chief in Fall of Reach. As for the rest and why the story overall seems incredibly mediocre, I'll have to actually play the game to answer, but chalk it up to hiring Brian Reed as your lead writer. 115

Chief literally and without exaggeration does whatever he wants at the beginning of Halo 5 [paraphrasing a Ms. Palmer here], but it's only when Infinity confirms that potential contact had been established that Fred and the rest of Blue Team truly cement their faith in the importance of the mission. Throughout the mission you hear them making quips about how dead Cortana should be and how it doesn't make sense for her to be in Meridian, but it's only after Lasky phones in that Fred calls BS and the rest of Blue Team follow suite.
Additionally: It is Blue Team we're talking about here. 119
Gaming / Re: Rank Halo games« on: October 25, 2015, 02:45:36 PM »
Overall: CE > 2 > ODST > 3 = Reach = 4
Story [Writing]: 3's Terminals > 4 = ODST > 2 > CE > Reach > 3 Story [Atmospheric/presentation]: ODST = CE = Reach > 3 = 2 > 4 Campaign [Gameplay/level design]: CE > 2 > 3 = Reach > 4 Multiplayer: CE > 2 = 3 = Reach > 4 Also, my rankings haven't really been changed by this, but my positivity on CE and the H3 Terminals escalated even more after going through Marathon. 120
