Anecdotal: Referring to a single individual
Umm. . . No. Anecdotal means a person story of some kind; something which isn't necessarily representative or statistical.

The fact that your family has that attitude, and a couple of Hispanic politicians, isn't evidence for for this attitude forming even a minor part of the Hispanic population's values.

If you want to present actual evidence, then I'll be willing to take you seriously.

One of my father's old friends (whose daughter I went to school with) beat a man to death just downtown.
Did they get into a fight?

My grandmother, all her friends, my uncle, and aunts are all Hispanic and vote Republican. They share no sentiment with law breakers and never want to be associated with them. Hell, two of the biggest Tea Baggers are Hispanics
muh anecdote and selective evidence

I don't know why we don't just make investments in infrastructure tax-deductible.
I could get behind that.
Makes more sense, to be honest.

Local businesses probably understand the infrastructure needs of the economy directly around them better than their congressman.

They might be in a job which requires they pull a trigger--like a cop or a soldier--or perhaps they had to fend off a home invasion.

I won't say much, for obvious reasons, but I very vaguely know a guy who almost got tried for attempted murder and who potentially got away with killing somebody on a different occasion.

Graves can be pretty dank too.
You could say the entire graveyard, especially at night.

Wouldn't be my first choice of word, but you know.

Old mausoleums especially.

Old, Victorian-era insane asylums too.

The perfect meal before joining up at your local nazi meeting. (This Saturday in fact, is pie contest night. Don't expect chocolate cakes or something that isn't a pie)

xpanding on what I said, I hate it when people label things as that as an excuse to shit all over it.
To be fair, the fact that something is a blatant propaganda excuse for a movie usually is enough of a reason to berate it.
Hey, some propaganda is damned good art.

Is it even immoral though? It's not like society needs them or anything. And if no one finds out about it then no one's feelings are hurt.
It's immoral to the counterfactual of not killing them and allowing them to facilitate value.

The whole point of objective morality is that--even if everybody's brainwashed or ignorant--it's still wrong.

8778
Nope. This is a discussion about illegals. Bringing up voting is irrelevant because they can't vote
Except Max's whole point of the Republicans' nativist attitude towards illegals is one of the things which drives away legitimate immigrants.

which is likely the fault of their previous (lack of) education.
Which is precisely what we are arguing in response to. I think we all want to improve primary and secondary education, it's just that you don't seem to place much importance on maintaining the ratio of people who go into higher education.

Nuka is a sneaky, gossipy asshole, but he's an honest sneaky, gossipy asshole. I haven't seen how Ktan operates enough to judge him.
He's made up rumors about me that were blatant lies.
Like what?

8781
Really, I don't give a fuck. Come here legally and you're fine. Come here illegally and you deserve nothing but a boot back to where you came from
That's probably the most narrow, short-sighted thing you've ever said.
And I won't miss a single minute of sleep over it
Thanks for illustrating why immigrants don't vote republican.
Well illegals can't vote in the first place, so your point is?
I didn't say illegal immigrants.
I did
So your point is completely irrelevant. . .

Point is, if people don't intelligently choose a degree, they shouldn't be surprised when they're jobless in the future. And the government shouldn't be helping out people who can't bother to do that.
This is about people who can't afford to go to school in the first place.
I'm sure there are already ways of acquiring financial assistance.
of course. But the people who qualify for free community college probably don't know how to go about getting such assistance.

If they can't even apply for financial aid correctly, why are we wasting tax paper money on college courses that they will fail....
I have to agree with PSU here.

The solution, clearly, is to make sure people know how to apply for financial aid.

Why is this even in Serious?
Because its not just a discussion about a film. Its about the real happenings in this guys life, like PTSD and the people he has killed. If that is not a serious topic, then idk what is...
Oh, fair enough. Just wasn't very clear looking at the OP.

Plenty of people I know have an English or history degree and work in accounting or payroll or something.
And that doesn't strike you as part of the whole problem?
