What the fuck is there to train? it's basic hack and slash, as well as formations. I'm not teaching them history, or strategic maneuvers.
How are you missing the point this hard?

And no, Medieval warfare was not just "hack and slash". Not unless you want your troops to be slaughtered.

from my notes on russian history:
Quote
-At the Troitsky Bridge, demonstrators were similarly mown down. The 60,000 demonstrators then marched to Nevsky Prospekt for one final attempt, but when the soldiers supposedly took up firing positions they fell to their knees and begged. The soldiers fired anyway.

I actually don't see a problem with this.

Schools already monitor pupils for shit like games, and the computers at my school have wikipedia articles on Hitler and Nazism blocked. I highly doubt teachers will be screaming bloody murder if a kid looks at al-Qaeda's wikipedia page, but if they're consistently accessing extremist material then of course they should keep their eyes and ears open.

Any unnecessary and frivolous valuable, unless it has doubtless sentimental value, belongs to the state.
Such a tax will be short-lived, as the consumption of frivolous goods to then be taxed will decrease rapidly.

State of England, Update:

Military strength:

- 10,000 armoured serjeants with mail, spears, broadswords and shields.
- 4,000 archers with iron-tipped arrows and dirks.
- 500 sokesmen and 50 wooden longships.

Military actions:
- Scotland has been annexed.
- 10 wooden longships are patrolling the British Channel.

Economy and infrastructure:
- 20pc of internationally traded barley, oats and wool is being sent to Sweden.
- A 30pc tax on the value of unimproved land is being levied inside the Free Cities.
- The Crown Bank, with the sole authority to mint groats, is controlled by a council of the King and Jewish financiers from Rouen, France.
- A system of chartered Lesser Banks--giving the government control over the banking system--also run by Jewish financiers helps the intermediation of credit across the English economy.
- All silver mines are owned by the Crown Bank.
- Iron mines have had investment in them by the Crown Bank, and are under the ownership of husbandmen for a 5pc tax levied on their income.
- Bloomery smelting has allowed for the exploitation of steel.
- Sweden has an outstanding debt of 250,000 groats with 3pc interest to the Crown Bank.
- Horses are being used instead of oxen in Southern farms.

Society:
- The Free Cities are administered by a Reeve-of-the-ward, and thus are not subject to any nobles between them and the King.
- The existence of the Crown Bank and the chartered Lesser Banks has given the Crown financial autonomy from English nobles.
- The Knights of the Realm are on rotational duty, moving from castle to castle.

Research:
- Agricultural research into alternatives to the open-field system is expected to be completed by page 20.

New actions:
- The Crown criminalises the clipping or debasement of coins.
- Research into the construction or longships capable of holding afloat with armour is being conducted. Expected completion by page 25.
- The Crown Bank begins holding a surplus of taxes raised.

As of page 9, England has access to bloomery smelting, which allows for the creation of steel; a metal mixing carbon and pig iron resulting with an increase in strength. The Crown orders all armoured serjeants to be outfitted with steel mail and halfhelms. Expected completion by page 13.

As of page 10, the Crown Bank has invested in infrastructure surrounding silver and iron mines. Iron mines have been taken from under the ownership of their Raugraves and given to husbandmen who pay a 5pc income tax, while silver mines are owned entirely by the Crown Bank.

England notices a mention of horses by Mongolia, and would like to buy a substantial amount.

England begins recruiting 2,000 sokesmen and constructing 150 longships to support the navies patrols in the English Channel. Expected completion by page 12.

Current military assets:
- 20,000 levies with spears
- 10,000 armoured serjeants with spears, broadswords and shields
- 4,000 archers
- 500 sokesman with 50 longships
