good, what gives one country the right to bomb another one without a declaration of war?
We're bombing an insurgency too big for its boots in the country next to two other countries which are essentially begging for aerial support.

ok

Birmingham is a city close to my heart, being the second-most populous of the U.K. and the most populous of my home region.

ITV News.

Quote
One of the terrorist gunmen who brought terror to Paris is believed to have called a number in Birmingham several times before launching the attack, according to reports.

Counter terror police are investigating information that one of the nine attackers rang the number “on several occasions” before the assault that killed 130 people, the Daily Mirror reports.

A source told the newspaper:
These calls to Birmingham were made shortly before the Paris attacks.

If the French police know who made the call to Birmingham, it is likely that they also know who received those calls.

British police are urgently investigating whether anyone in the UK was involved in the Paris attacks. They also want to determine whether there is a linked terror cell based here.

The news comes as Britain begins bombing targets of the so-called Islamic State in response to the Paris murders, and raises the fear that a terror cell is in the UK planning a similar attack.

And there are those who say we are not in a state of war.

Pussies.

From their perspective, you need to be put down.
You're insane if you think their perspective is as legitimate as our own.

Telegraph live blog

- The shooter, Syed Farook, had deleted his data on electronic devices days before the attacks.

- It is believed the couple self-radicalised, rather than being formally directed by ISIS.

- They had a "bomb factory" in an apartment they rented 10 miles east of San Bernardino.

- Suspects' explosives were "similar to those in al-Qaeda manual".

- Farook had been in contact with a small number of suspected extremists, leading the authorities to think there may be some deeper terrorist plan at work.

- Farook had argued over religion with a colleague--a Messianic Jew--who would become one of the victims.

That's not bigotry, just correct.
I said the same thing until I got my shit stomped in an argument about it.
Islam is theologically, exegetically and historically more likely to inculcate a culture of violence. It's no surprise the Qur'an is much shorter than the Bible, or that Islamic scholars have historically read the scripture in a way which appeals to incredibly conservative Salafists like ISIS, or that apostates like the moderate Ahmadiyyah are being killed as a result.

"Of course, it is important to note that even though there was no broad public-opinion backlash in France or the U.S., violence against Muslims increased in both countries following the attacks. Among the small minority of people with extremely negative views, some may become more likely to turn to violence after such incidents.
Small minority being the operative phrase here; you're making the claim that there is a broad trend towards more Islamaphobia following terrorist attacks, and that this is what ISIS wants.

Quote
Moreover, the view that Islam is more likely than other religions to encourage violence among its believers has become more common over time. In March 2002, just months after 9/11, only 25% of Americans said Islam is more likely to encourage violence, but this jumped to 44% by July 2003. And the last time we asked the question, in September 2014, fully half of Americans (50%) expressed this view."
That's not bigotry, just correct.

2905
Couldn't that be attributed to the increase in population
Not the rate.

WHAT THE FUCK KINDA RUSE IS THIS META.

THE FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT CLICKBAIT SHIT.
There's a big debate in the blogosphere between neo-reactionaries and liberals about whether or not crime has increased since the Victorian/Edwardian Era. It looks like the evidence points in favour of the neo-reactionaries being correct, which liberals like Scott Alexander have even come to acknowledge.

It's an incredibly odd phenomenon.

The angrier people get at Muslims because of acts of terror
This phenomenon doesn't even exist; Muslims became more popular in the wake of 9/11 in the U.S. and Charlie Hebdo in France. Westerners, believe it or not, are capable of nuanced thought.
As far as I'm aware, contempt towards the Islamic community increases whenever this sort of attack happens. I honestly just don't believe you, because everything I read and observe suggests otherwise.

Stirner would tell you that responsibility is a spook
And I'd call upon Stirner to answer for the clear benefits that responsibility and duty has on society.
Stirner would tell you that society is a spook too
And I'd ask him why he has an issue with the mathematical function of summation.
"Your collective view of individuals is nothing more than a man-made spook, my property."
I'd pick Durkheim over Stirner. Being a philosopher doesn't relieve him from the weight of empirics.
