I'm quite a fervent atheist.

This is so weird.
Haha, how so?
Because your story is the exact same as mine, except it wasn't my choice to stop playing piano. But after a while that I was unable to go to the classes, I said fuck it.

Weird.
Fuckin' separated at birth.

I'm afraid I'm not up for explanations right now. But I hear ya. And, pretty sure I know why. I'll come back around and try to explain it later.
All right, man.

Appreciate it.

1. Ok. What type of music do you usually listen to? Is it usually upbeat?
2. Alright.
3. Ha, me too. Interesting.
4. Alright. Why did you stop playing? Did you want to? Was it your choice?
5. You're 17/18 right?

You feel as if unable to enjoy the music? It's not a sadness, but an emptiness right?
1. Just whatever, really. I wouldn't say it's necessarily upbeat, but I mostly listen to music which isn't emotional. Alt Rock probably most of all.
4. It was my choice, I just didn't enjoy it.
5. Yeah, I turn 18 next February.

That's right. I don't actively dislike the music, but I don't enjoy it. It's feels like it brings into focus this emptiness, as opposed to actually creating it.

Side question, but do you enjoy being depressed?
That's a thought-provoking question.

It just feels like I'm totally apathetic, more than anything. I can enjoy some of the proximate results of it, like increased attention if somebody notices, and I can hate some other results, such as becoming temporarily unproductive.

As for the feeling in itself, no, I wouldn't say I enjoy it.

1. Even extremely upbeat music?
2. Are there specific instruments you've noticed to have an effect on you?
3. Have you ever played instruments at a young age?
4. Were certain instruments played around you at an early age?
5. Has this started happening recently? How long have you been experiencing this?

1. Yes.
2. Nothing in particular.
3. I used to play piano for a number of years.
4. No, I'm the only person to play an instrument in my family.
5. I probably first noticed it about a year ago, maybe. But I really can't answer that with any certainty.

I've done some Google searches but hasn't turned up anything, so I figured I'd throw it open to a bit of discussion.

I really don't know what it is. All music, literally anything, has the potential to make me feel incredibly depressed and I have no idea why. I noticed this a minute ago while listening to the Bloodhound Gang song I posted in The Flood. This would be entirely unsurprising if it was depressing music, but pretty much anything can have the same effect.

I don't mean it just makes sad - I'm not an especially emotional person - I mean it makes me feel incredibly hollow and, almost, "without content". As if I lack identity or meaning. Now, I'm more interested in the psychological implications, as opposed to the existential or metaphysical >.>

I really can't think of an explanation for this, hence why I'm here.

Paul supports cutting government spending, a balanced budget amendment,

Just lol.

Quote
lowering taxes

I could get down with that.

Quote
Additionally, Paul opposes inflation and supports "restoring the value of the dollar that has devalued by approximately 95% since the Federal Reserve's inception in 1913".

Dumb.

Quote
He opposes subsidizing energy companies, and would support allowing tax breaks for companies that produce alternative energy such as wind, solar, or geothermal.

That's fairly agreeable.

Quote
Paul opposes the USA PATRIOT Act, including warrantless searches and breach of individual privacy.[10] He has also proposed that the TSA be eliminated[11] and opposes the extrajudicial killing of American citizens in the United States who are terrorism suspects.[12]

Good man.

Quote
Paul is opposed to abortion.

And my opinion plummets faster than nominal income in 1929.

Quote
Paul supports returning control of education to local communities and parents and thus eliminating the federal Department of Education, but he says that some functions of the Department of Education, such as disbursing student loans and Pell Grants, should be transferred to other departments instead of being eliminated

That could be good.

Quote
Paul has also authored and shown support for school voucher legislation and competitive public schooling.

I agree with this.

Quote
He opposes birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants.

I don't agree with that.

There isn't much else to comment on really.

The guy seems like a bit of wannabe Ron Paul. Don't really give a fuck about him.

You can certainly beam energy, but I'm not sure about through solid objects like walls.

Although, that's perhaps more to do with our own proficiency at the task rather than physics.
Certain kinds of waves can hit through walls, like radio.
Exactly. I'm saying our capacity to do it is limited by our own prowess, not some fundamental, physical barrier.

we did in high school (college for you brits).
Yanks should just give up on trying to understand our system.

11032
First of all, I told her I probably won't want children when I'm older.

Secondly, the two universities I've chosen both involve going abroad for a year to study.

I can see any justification for her being upset with me over these two choices I've made. Surely my life shouldn't be a surrogate for her desires, but it's at the point where day-to-day stuff is incredibly tense because she's so fucking mad at me. I put this in Serious because I want actual advice on how to diffuse the situation.

Spoiler
Yes, I've tried just talking to her about it.
Spoiler
No, it didn't work.
Spoiler
It never works.
