It won't be that bad, given the nature of the debt burden we face after leaving Uni. Everybody seems to forget that how much you pay back is contingent on how much you eventually earn. The higher debt burden isn't nice sure, and it's annoying to me, but I'd take higher maintenance loans over Labour lowering the tuition fees.
I think the repaying system here is good. If it weren't for that, I probably wouldn't be able to go to Uni.

With regards to politics, this year I was expecting my year group at college to be completely apathetic to the general election but no, for the weeks leading up to it it was all anyone would ever talk about. I walked in to see my friend printing off the entire manifestos of 5 major parties to read through. Not sure if he read them or not in the end but it was pretty nice to see people getting into it and actually researching, getting up to date with politics and debating with each other for their first vote. I'm not sure if that's what you meant with the OP but oh well.
