We don't talk about that.

As for Tactics, I'll probably end up playing that at some point.

I'm tempted to buy it on amazon for the ps2.
I just bought Tactics on Steam for 1.99.

Might as well get it while it's cheap.

If I get to a point where I feel like it I could end up reviewing the entire series. But I'll get the old ones done first. It's quite nice to play them in order because you can see how they've influenced the games from Fallout 3 onwards.

I can review Fallout 2, but since Fedorekd started it, he can.
You can review it if you want, don't feel like you can't just because I'm reviewing it.

Good shit. It feels like it's been awhile since we've had a review.

Now someone just needs to review Fallout 2, and we'll have the entire series (minus New Vegas).
I just started Fallout 2, so I'll review it when I finish.

Day Four

Flee arrived home with his takings of the night. Everyone was hungry, but today they could eat a proper meal, cooked up by Ender. Fedorekd and Flee went to bed, and Carson could finally build the rainwater collector. Once Ender had finished eating, there was a knock at the door.
Spoiler

A woman wanted their help rescuing people from a collapsed building. Ender agreed to help, and left the house. Being able to help out some fellow survivors lifted the moods of everyone in the group, a reminder that even in the worst of times, people could still unite and protect each other.
Spoiler

Ender still hadn't returned by the evening. Flee went out scavenging again, his target being the Old Town. He found a house that appeared to have been reinforced, pondering the possibility of people living there.
Spoiler

Soon enough, he found that no one was there. There was clear evidence that a shelling had taken place, and the refugees that did leave here had escaped or died. Unfortunately, most of the building was inaccessible to Flee, so he had to return with only building materials.

I can't believe you'd just leave me out there with a group of potentially homicidal scavengers.
they were cool as long as you didnt fuck with them. which you didn't.
Thank goodness.
what I'm really worried about is who will commit the first murder and when that will happen because that's when the group really starts shaking up.

Day Three

While Fedorekd had found some good stuff, the group was still very much lacking necessities. Fedorekd and Ender got some sleep. Flee started cooking dinner, only to find that they didn't have enough water. Carson tried to construct a water collector, to find he was a tiny bit short on materials. And so, the group had to make do with raw meat. it was better than nothing.
Spoiler

Flee and Carson decided to start clearing the upstairs. Things would have been much easier with a shovel, and in Flee's case, a lockpick. Things weren't all bad, however, as Carson managed to clear the front half of the attic and found some jewellery. This could prove useful for trading.
Spoiler

In the evening, Flee was the one to go out. He made his way to the supermarket; he was sure to find something there. On arrival, he came across a group of scavengers. They seemed friendly enough, and they all agreed on a finder's-keeper's rule, but they still kept their guard up around each other.
Spoiler

The run was a success; Flee was able to find some canned food, water, some building materials, and even some medical ingredients.

Gaming / Review - Fallout: A Post-Nuclear Role Playing Game
« on: February 10, 2016, 10:22:08 AM »

For the past couple of weeks, I have been playing the first Fallout game, developed and published by Interplay in 1997. I’d bought the game around a year ago, and had started several playthroughs, but never managed to get very far. This time, though, I finally got around to doing a full playthrough of the game. Now that I've finally played it, does Fallout hold up to its status as one of the best roleplaying games of all time?

As most people know by now, the Fallout series is set in a timeline that diverged from our own, where technology continued to progress while culture very much stagnated within the 1950s, giving the game its signature retro-futuristic aesthetic. The 21st Century marks a period of great worldwide conflict brought about by the shortage of non-renewable energy resources such as petroleum and uranium, eventually culminating in a massive global nuclear war in 2077. This left most of the world a desolate ruin, in which society is now made up of small survivor groups from the fall of human civilization. Shortly before the war, a select number of people were placed in underground Vaults, including the player character, who lives in Vault 13, Southern California.

As is customary in Fallout games, the player must choose their character’s stats. This includes setting their SPECIAL values, tag skills and selecting up to two traits. There are a wide range of options to choose from, opening up to a massive variety of different playstyles and roleplay opportunities. Having created a character, the player is immediately thrust into the action with the mission of finding a “water chip” for their Vault. There are no tutorials or hints; the player is made to simply figure things out for themselves. It’s important to select a good set of stats to really do well in this game, as even the earlier sections can prove difficult to new players. The combat system does take some getting used to, being completely different to what is found in ARPGs today, however once I had gotten used to it I found myself really enjoying it. The game uses a turn-based system. The player is given a set of action points to use each turn, the number varying depending on the player’s stats. They are also given a variety of attack modes to choose from, leading to some interesting combat scenarios. The VATS system is, as expected, present, and can be extremely useful. All of these systems come together to create a rather tactical and sometimes intense experience which really enhances the feeling of survival and desperation within the game. For some people, the combat may be clunky and slow, but for me it’s incredibly fun and rewarding.

The game is presented from an isometric perspective, and the environments are highly detailed (for its time). The world itself is huge, taking place in Southern California, and there a good number of settlements to visit, from small farm towns like Shady Sands, to massive trading centres like The Hub, to creepy, Underworld-like cities like Necropolis. All of these places are full of interesting, likeable characters, the most major of whom are represented by creepy-looking “talking heads” during dialogue. They all have their own stories and quests for you to take on and you’re given freedom to complete these in almost any way you wish. Each of the locations has its own unique atmosphere, supported by the well-placed soundtrack.

To travel between these destinations, the player selects them on a map and waits as their character journeys across the wasteland. Usually, the player will encounter some kind of random event in the middle of their journey. These range from raider ambushes, to crossing paths with friendly caravans, to even finding the TARDIS casually standing in the sand. While they can get repetitive at times (some areas are reused for the generic parts of the wasteland), they do well to spice up what could have been a mundane travelling mechanic, and there are even some unmarked areas containing secrets that are easy to miss.

It’s important to note that the game has two time limits: one for the first of the game’s main quests and one for the second. Within these time limits, the settlements are also affected in some way by the ending. Travelling in this game takes time, so it’s wise to plan your journeys if you want to get the best endings. The time mechanic in this game is highly effective as it really contributes to the sense of urgency and makes you fear for the fates of the characters you’ve met on your journey. The world as a whole really feels like something you can make an impact on, for better or for worse. The story allows you to play as a pacifist or a complete psychopath, and makes no attempt to restrict you, even in the last few seconds of the game.

Are there negatives? Of course there are. I already mentioned the repetitiveness of the interruptions during travelling, and the game does contain a few irritating bugs. Companion AI is often dodgy; they block doorways almost all the time, which is especially annoying when your group consists of every possible companion in the game. However, I find that these problems are only very minor, and aren’t really that much of a detriment to this game’s excellent story, engaging combat, and expansive, diverse game world. If you like post-apocalyptic stories, turn-based combat, interactive worlds, or all three of these things, then I’d highly recommend this game to you. To answer the question from the beginning of this review: Yes. It is one of the best roleplaying games of all time.

Score: 9/10

Page 132: It has been many days, and yet still Lemon hasn't made an appearance. My hope is beginning to wear thin. For, if Lemon isn't around to defend the perfectly valid complaints being proposed against 343 and Halo 5, who will be there to carry on the mantle? Who will stand up and say; "This was intended to be in the game" when an unbalanced or downright terrible feature is pointed out? Who will be there to say; "343 didn't have enough time/resources for what they were hoping for" when the Campaign ending is ridiculed?

These are dark times, and I pray that Lemon returns before that last spark of hope fades in the night.
He has to be dead. He couldn't go this long without shilling.

Day Two

Ender arrived home with her findings of the night, which her fellow survivors were grateful for. Having spent the entire night working, Carson and Ender had a well-earned rest and Flee started to build a stove.
Spoiler

While Flee was cooking a group meal on the new stove, there was a knock on the door. Fedorekd answered it to find a man carrying several heavy bags. He was a trader, with some tempting items to trade, and he seemed friendly enough, but the group wasn't willing to give anything away in return, so Fedorekd had to send him away.
Spoiler

Soon enough, Flee had finished cooking, and the survivors shared a meal together. After that, Fedorekd went to the basement to clear more debris while Flee improved the workshop.
Spoiler

When the evening came, it was Fedorekd's turn to go scavenging. Tonight's target was a ruined block of flats. The place had been evacuated in a rush, and hadn't been touched since, so there was bound to be some useful stuff there.
Spoiler

Upon arriving, Fedorekd was immediately able to find some food and building materials in a pile outside the building. Inside, he was able to find even more food, as well as some more interesting things such as electronic and mechanical parts. He also decided to grab some cigarettes; apparently they were good for trading.
Spoiler

Upstairs, he had no luck. The doorway to the bathroom, and in turn to the medical supplies, was blocked off by a set of metal bars. He found himself in the same situation another floor up, and so decided to take whatever building materials remained within his reach, and returned to the house.

Yeash.

Just read up.

Fedorekd I thought you liked H5?
Arena is fun but it lacks the content to support it.

Everything else in the game sucks.

I thought that the Prometheans were well made in Halo 5. Much better than 4.

Plus Warzone is still pretty fun. As there is always a battle. Sure enemies are static but if they were running around you'd probably get problems happening. I WOULD like if AI enemies could try to take over your points and make them neutral though.

Don't worry i'll make sure Custom Games is fun as hell.

By the way, would you be okay if Game Night was pushed back to saturday?
I don't mind.

Day One

The team started off by looting what they could of the abandoned house. Most of what they found was building materials, so Carson and Flee made themselves useful by building a couple of beds.
Spoiler

The route to the back garden was blocked, so Fedorekd  started clearing the debris while Carson cleared the basement. In the back garden, Fedorekd was able to find food, water and bandages, along with some lockpicks, which enabled the others to open up some new areas around the house.
Spoiler

Soon enough, nightfall came, and it was time to send someone out to scavenge. For the first night, the group sent Ender, believing her experience as a police officer would prove useful in the more dangerous areas of the city. While Ender went off to a nearby shelled cottage, Carson guarded the house, leaving Fedorekd and Flee to sleep.

Ender arrived to find the house completely empty, save for a single rat. She collected some building materials from the front garden, and was pleased to find that the fridge still contained a decent amount of food and water. She also managed to find some herbal medicine, as well as some herbs which Carson could potentially use to make his own. Upstairs, Ender found a locked door. She peered through the keyhole, but it didn't seem like there was anything of worth in there. She could possibly return later, once she had more lockpicks. In the basement, she found a cupboard, possibly full of useful things. Unfortunately, it was blocked by debris. She was carrying as much as she possibly could, anyway, so she decided to head back home before daylight could reach her.
