Also super weird that they're going straight to DkS1, and not Demon's Souls for a remaster. They definitely could have gotten away with doing both back to back and making even more money from it.

I think Sony still own the license for demon's.

I mean TBH DkS1 is the pinnacle of the series. Souls 2 has absolute garbage PvE, 3 is just garbage throughout and Sony probably has exclusivity rights to Demon Souls and Bloodborne.

I agree that DkS1 is better than DS, but it's still a fantastic game that's actually aged pretty well and I'm sure a ton of DkS fans would love to play if it wasn't exclusively on PS3. I especially love its level design and lack of bonfires, relying solely on opening logical shortcuts.

Might actually fire up DS2 and try and finish that, couldnt finish that or DS3.

DS2: That Castle with the heavy rain and level up bae is outside
DS3: After that bossfight with the tree and the ground falls beneath you. Which honestly Im not that far in.

Mind you I found Dark Souls and Bloodborne much more interesting and finished those both, but I really like DS2 but lost interest at that point, gunna see if I can light that spark again, and DS3 I just got burnt out and thought it was a clunky Bloodborne, the enemies are just far too mobile for what the player can actually do...usually making dodging the better option to guarding, but the player is given a much worse dodge to that in Bloodborne.

Ah i'm just about at the same point in 2 as you in my latest build (Cosplay as Reaper from Overwatch) The next part after this Castle though is probably the worst section in the entire game if not the series

The boss in 3 you are at is optional. But you get to make boss weapons for beating it. Your assessment of 3 is really accurate, and it only gets worse with the "Clunky Blooborne" stuff as it goes on. As for 2 yeah, despite its artificial difficulty that plauges it is really boring to play through and easy to lose interest. The slog is worth it for the PvP though once you get to it.

A big problem that contributes to DkS3's over the top speed is a series of bugs that cause enemies to just skip part of or sometimes entire animations. It seems to be a problem with the games way of tracking enemies. For example, If a dog has ever seemed to just teleport to you when you looked away from it, chances are that it actually did.

How each Dark Souls game works:

Scenario: There is a long hallway at  the end of which is a chest guarded by an armored knight.

Dark Souls 1: Paying attention, you can see that there is a pressure plate on the ground, tripping it will get you shot by arrows. Fortunately there is enough room to maneuver around it.  The  knight at the end is a Silver Knight which is quite the challenge but not too much to overcome and in the chest is a Greatsword.

Dark Souls 2: There are 3 of the same trap, A lava pit you have to jump over and when you get to the knight, 6 more knights  come out of the walls behind you  and all attack you at once. The chest is a mimic with a massive hitbox, but killing gives you an armor set with some cool effects and a lot of souls.

Dark Souls 2 SOTFS: The same thing but you also get invaded by Forlorn

Dark Souls 3: The Knight is not a knight at all. It is in fact Ultra Instinct Goku who is being piloted by a Melee Fox main. Stepping on the trap causes you to also be attacked by Unlimited Blade Works and a skeleton wheel. The chest contains a fading soul and a ring that gives you unlimited poise (and by poise I still mean the Dark Souls 3 kind). In the next room you are ambushed by the entire cast of Titanfall 2 including the Titans.

As someone who doesn't bother with PvP and sticks to PvE and co-op, I really couldn't care less what the meta is or what's OP or not. I just use whatever I fancy for that playthrough, really.

Friede felt like a leftover Bloodborne boss TBH

I was just starting on my character to 100% Dark Souls 1 to have 100% in all 3, but maybe I'll just wait til this comes out. Although once this comes out I'll probably never play the original so maybe I should.
