Almost always, with moderation
My dad being a Jehovah's Witness doesn't celebrate birthdays. Their logic behind it is that we should not have a specific day to celebrate and give presents, there is another reason but I didn't even bother learning. On the other hand my mom likes to blow it out of proportion, I had to get her to stop making a big deal of it.
