I post on internet forums more than I talk to people irl. It's gotten to the point that, on the off chance I actually am talking to a friend, they know that "I was talking to someone" means "I was chatting with someone on the internet".

That's nothing to be embarrassed about. I wouldn't even consider it a problem, because it just means that there's more people on the Internet that you'd rather talk to than people offline. That's pretty whatever.

I have more than a few people that I can have stimulating conversation with irl, I just don't talk that much. Unless I'm manic, in which case I don't stop speaking gibberish until I calm down.

My friends are all away, of course, so I only ever get to catch up with them in person about once a month. I find the sparse conversations I've had with people are a lot more stimulating than the conversations I've had with them every single day, you know what I mean? I think that's kinda nice, but that's just me.

I just don't really ever think about it. I have literally no shame about the amount of time I spend on the Internet. Why should I? It doesn't make me less productive (in some ways, it makes me more productive), it doesn't turn me into a mindless zombie, and it doesn't make me any less of a person, so I'd imagine the same would apply to you.

It's one of those things where it's only a problem if you want it to be a problem, I think.

If you think it affects your ability to be social outside of the Internet, then sure, that's an issue, but...
