I dunno about indie j-rock, but I'm into the mainstream stuff / visual kei.
Though most of my stuff is outdated by 5-8 years. Which is k since its kinda gone to shit since then.

Melodically.
You hear the voice more as an instrument than as it's lyrical content with songs in languages you don't understand, or at least I do.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

Rammstein cured me of that way of thinking.

I find this too, when the lyrics are kind of dumb/childish but the song itself is enjoyable then it's made a lot better by not knowing what it means lol.

For some it can work the other way though, finding out what it actually means/says can increase the value of a song (to me at least) >.> It has to be a good one in the first place though, obviously <.<
