Hello

For years I have read through tons of articles and firsthand accounts on meditation, and the numerous benefits that come from it. Focusing on the present moment, being able to concentrate better, and the ability to remain calm in any situation would all be very beneficial to my life and many of yours as well.

The mind is everything. Mediation gives you greater control of your mind, it can help rid of anxieties and it even lowers blood pressure.

I'm finally going to make a full commitment to start mediating, which is why I am making this thread. I will be mediating at least 30 minutes everyday.

To start off I will be listening to 7.5 Hz Theta waves for about 10 minutes

Then I will listen to a guided mediation for about 10 minutes

Then I will do a mindfulness mediation for about 10 minutes which involves
-Breathing in through the nose
-Breathing deeply into the diaphragm
-Focusing only on breath, not allowing any other thoughts to come into my mind. If they do come, you acknowledge that there are thoughts there and let them pass.

I've meditated before and have felt great but I could never stick to it, so I will post in this thread every now and then to look back on my progress. Do you have experience with mediation? What are your opinions on it?

I like ASMR too, my favorite one is one at a mall kiosk with a lady selling a fingernail polisher to some youtube guy. I was about to post it but i think the sound was taken down or something because it's not playing for me

But I wouldn't say they are the same. Mediation comes from actively clearing your mind, not just relaxing

Just did my first session, feeling really calm and my breathing is still pretty slow 10 minutes after finishing. Mind feels clear, feeling witty(placebo?)

I used to meditate when I was really into yoga over the summer. Can't say I experienced anything extraordinary but I feel like I had more clarity of the mind

I've used asmr vids to help me sleep before. Pretty helpful with insomnia.

As far as meditation goes I've never seen the need to do it on the regular. Usually only need to clear my head if something is stressing me out in particular. Otherwise I'd rather spend my r&r time doing something else.

Sup guys 2 week update here.


I've gotten better at mindfulness meditation, and am getting better at being aware of my breath and senses, like a spectator to my own being/body/thoughts.

I find myself being able to recognize thoughts and let them pass away pretty quickly. Only recently started noticing this benefit. It's almost like some other voice in my head says "Oh look, a thought, let it go" and my mind can go blank for a few moments. This is incredibly calming. My breathing has gotten deeper and slower too. I've enjoyed this so much I can actually go 20-30 minutes over my prescribed time, and I feel great doing it. Sometimes I'll have a good session where my mind blanks quickly and I can be a spectator, sometimes a bad one where I can't focus.

One thing I've also started noticing very recently is that if I do mindful meditation while laying down trying to sleep I can actually force myself into sleep paralysis. It's happened 3 times already(twice trying to sleep normally, once during a nap on purpose). This is lowkey scary and I always try moving to make myself wake up lol

Blanking out for large periods of time and barely breathing is my average day. I also kept going into sleep paralysis for brief periods 10 times last night. Am I meditating yet?

Wassup Jive Turkey here with an update

Been going well. Usually I meditate at night, try to in the morning but I usually am busy.

I think meditation is great. After a sesh I feel so calm and in The Now, however cheesy that sounds. I had a sort of epiphany a while ago about how literally the Now is all we have, "like a razor thin slice of time we live in for a brief moment" as some guy I listened to put it. I can't explain it well as I'm not really good with descriptive words, it was almost like I felt everything how it was at that very moment without considering the past or the blank canvas of the future.

It really motivated me to meditate more, because I get off on the idea of being better than everyone else, but then I realized that completely defeats the purpose of meditation. Going to look into ego death type stuff more. Also I can respond a lot better to people in conversations, definitely not placebo and I have a log on how well I preform when putting myself into awkward social situations on purpose to see how I respond, I've improved a ton.
