i've actually warmed up to piracy a little tiny bit, just because i've become so fucking disillusioned with every media industry ever, to a point where i would literally burn them all down if i could—seriously, fuck anyone working in any of those industries

it's still, at its base, a bad and wrong thing to do, because it's still theft—but i just don't give a fuck anymore, shit is way too goddamn expensive these days and no one deserves to make that much money off of simple entertainment, it's fucking bullshit

anime is the only art form i hate enough to not monetarily support in any way whatsoever, no matter how illegal it is

I think I don't have anything against piracy as long as it's copying, not theft, because in the end it benefits author by making him more popular and after all people don't own ideas, it's ideas who own people. Author owns the expression of idea.

By not theft I mean that person who pirated content doesn't claim to be a creator of the thing copied at the very least.

I don't think that copyright laws work well either, I think they are obsolete. I think if I start to create something I share it for free and if I hear that some (insane) people want to support me then I just start a patreon or something.

I also noticed that creators suffer more from big industries using/reusing their creations rather than from regular people copying and sharing stuff.

To summarize (and to repeat myself): pirating might be bad, but most of today's business practises are so much worse.

i know what you mean, but i wouldn't say the average person who pirates honestly spends a lot of time advertising for the products they're pirating—why would they, it's not their job

if you have some kind of platform where you can reach thousands of people and say "hey this game is cool buy it," then maybe that works, but even then, people don't like having to spend money on something they don't know they'll enjoy, and most of the ones who refuse to do so will never talk about it at all, giving no exposure whatsoever
