I see. I used to not color my drawings too, but when I do color them, I'm using pencils.

my typical process is

pencil the drawing
pencil again with thicker lead
finalise with castell black pen
colour with castell pen

i wanna try inking next

Thanks. I just bought the Uzumaki Naruto art book that has all these cool Kishimoto promotional pages and having reference images helps out a lot, especially with sizing and stuff like that. I'm in the process of doing another one right now.

I'd still say my SSJ and SSJ3 Goku drawings are a bit better, though. At least in recapturing the style of the original artists.

Penciling the lines directly instead of the basic shapes (how I traditionally approach a drawing) makes these characters WAY easier to draw. It's weird because DBZ's character are much easier to start using basic shapes.

Unsatisfied with the results on this one. I chose it because there was a lot going on but also because the hands were a focal point. Hands are my weakness. I think I managed to capture them fairly well, but as a result I derped on Naruto's face.
