Ok, I get why hillbillies are the ones who would be abducted. They live in remote areas and are isolated. Even the medical stuff.  We do weird shit to the animals we're familiar with, let alone new species.

But why can't they disguise their ships? We could make ours look like anything.  Why don't they? That's the part I never could get. Capable of traversing interstellar distances, yet stealth is lost on them.

Pay no attention to the lone cloud in the middle of the night sky vaguely view able by the moonlight when there hasn't been a single cloud all week due to the weather....

....In other news some lone farmer goes missing in the same exact area....

They haven't constructed enough Pylons to power their stealth fields

Our scientists are.

Imagine that Galapagos turtles are sapient. One likes to be a little more independent than the rest and prefers to be a ways from the group. Suddenly a group of aliens inexplicably fly in and start probing it.

To us it was a standard biological survey. We just wanted to check his diet, how he reproduces and implant a means to observe his travels.

To him it was a fairly common (to us) alien abduction.
