Hmm, whenever this sort of topic comes up, it always seems to turn into a "USA vs Insert European Country Here" debate. More similar countries with more permissive firearm laws never seem to factor into the equation.

I found this to be pretty interesting, although I admittedly skimmed the article.

Evidently the cheese eating surrender monkeys across the Channel have a firearm homicide rate fairly equivalent to the UK at 0.06 per 100,000 people. And to my knowledge, handguns and semiautomatics can be purchased by civilians, provided you have the appropriate permits.

I also found it interesting that there are an estimated 19 million civilian guns in France.

C'mon UK! Are you going to let yourselves be outdone by those stuck up wine sippers?!

Crucial aspect is that French citizens can only buy guns when they have a valid hunting or sporting permit.
The sport shooting permit can be acquired if you to have a membership at a shooting range. The hunting permit involves a more rigorous safety test.

And yet French police cadets can find an AK-47 on the streets within two hours.

Long guns are better than handguns. Why not advocate for less gun restrictions so you can enjoy them as a sport, not just as a tool to feel safer?

I dunno. Sport wise, it always seemed to be just golf, with more noise and less walking. Or snooker, with more walking. Or javelin, with less throwing.

"U.K. handguns used in crime have doubled since they were banned in 1997"

Well yeah. Anybody who had a handgun now was committing another crime.

And hell no. You seen the people on my street? I barely trust them with a butter knife. Hell as soon as I got a paintball gun I accidentally shot my friend point blank in the neck and leg.

We always say to fight fire, you must use fire. This is wrong. Fighting fire with fire will leave scars and a new flame will rise. We must instead use water. It is the opposite of fire, it extinguishes the fire, it cools, it refreshes, it heals. We are made up of 70% water, we are not made up of 70% fire. Please practice what we truly are
I'm not so much questioning the data, but I think you can do better with some of these sources Meta.
I'm in the middle of revising my position in light of Flee's data.
If you're interested in reading more, I can definitely suggest this site. It usually goes very in depth and provides detailed and sound rebuttals debunking a lot of the most common pro-gun arguments, such as the "more guns = less crime" one.
*Inhales* Ahhh! That site is full of credibility and unbiased media! : D

Sorry, that should've been violent crime, not just crime.
