Do rentals even exist any more? I haven't seen any in my local game stores in about 6-7 years. Maybe I'm just a casual but it seems like downloadable games are phasing out the prospect of renting them like Netflix is to movies.
But to answer the OP, I don't think piracy is comparable. If you're renting at least someone down the line is receiving some form of compensation for the product being consumed. Even if the publishers are getting a raw deal their games are still technically getting recognition via the retailers, whereas piracy is just blatant theft.

I like how Trump went from isolationist to neocon in the space of like three days.

I was maybe thinking we could get a Sandtrap banner on the front page of sep7agon as a memoriam to the guy. I know others have suggested we give his account a specialised banner which i also think is a great idea, but considering the guy was a top legend i think he deserves all the respect we can give him, seeing as how most of us took him for granted.
Idk, I think its the least we could do for such a fantastic human being.
Cheat?

Rest in peace. Great guy. Always had time to listen to other people's problems here despite what he was going through. Sad to hear a fantastic human being depart us like that.

I'm not a climate expert, but maybe we should be investing in the idea of preparing our societies for the impact of climate change, rather than trying to resuscitate an already fucked planet. Seems like a more proactive use of resources.
What is up with all these negative and largely unscientific posts in this thread?
What we have on our hands is a wildfire. It's already burned down swathes of forest and land, and is guaranteed to cause more damage in the future. This much is clear. So what do we do when faced with such a spreading fire? Do we throw our hands in the air because it's all fucked anyways? Do we shrug and say "yo, shit's on fire anyways so might as well pour some gasoline on it"? Do we tell our firemen to stop trying to contain the blaze and minimize the damage and fallout because it's a "fruitless endeavor", or quit their jobs and instead try to prepare for living in a blackened and burned down wasteland because it would be a better use of time and resources?
No, we listen to the experts and people who actually know what they're talking about (these scientists you explicitly said you weren't part of) and follow through on their pretty much universal consensus that looking after the environment, using green energy, lowering our emissions and so on is still actually a good idea with an enormous merit even today.
Especially when you consider that there's a pretty much universal scientific consensus and global move towards lower emissions (even China is going green and has been decreasing their emissions over the past few years), this whole attitude of "doesn't matter, might as well say fuck it all" is so illogical and backwards.
I'm not saying it's illogical. Why does everyone here seem to think I'm saying something I'm not? I'm for reduction of greenhouse gases, I'm for combating climate change, I'm against this stupid policy change and props to the other countries that are actually trying to do something about it. Thing is, I just don't have a lot of faith in humanity for collectively trying to pull it off. If we're to actually make any change we need a whole lot more than a handful of countries who are committed to the cause. It'd be great if everyone was on our wavelength about this, but most nations aren't, so I'm not going to give a solitary fuck if one meaningless policy gets scrapped, am I?

Please elucidate on your magical solution that allows every nation on Earth to miraculously cooperate into curtailing the prospect of further climate change damage then.
Or equally, you could just post snarky gifs. That's fine too.

There's literally no policy on Earth that's going to halt, or even postpone climate change at this point. China and India are shitting out coal emissions like there's no tomorrow. Even if by some international, logistical miracle we all managed to stop emitting CO2, too late, we fucked it anyway.
Maybe it's just the cynic in me talking, but I wouldn't get worked up over a policy that was a fruitless endeavour anyway.

China will plow 2.5 trillion yuan ($361 billion) into renewable power generation by 2020, the country's energy agency said on Thursday, as the world's largest energy market continues to shift away from dirty coal power towards cleaner fuels.
The investment will create over 13 million jobs in the sector, the National Energy Administration (NEA) said in a blueprint document that lays out its plan to develop the nation's energy sector during the five-year 2016 to 2020 period.
the investment reflects Beijing's continued focus on curbing the use of fossil fuels, which have fostered the country's economic growth over the past decade, as it ramps up its war on pollution.
China became the world's top solar generator last year. Contrary to your post China is actually making an effort to cut down on fossil fuels and they're creating jobs in the process the US should do the same instead of trying to revive dead industries.
Good for them. Won't help much, but good for them.

Well yes - but that doesn't mean the answer is to roll back important regulations in the hopes that it will resuscitate an industry that is dying, not solely because of regulation, but innovation.
This decision by Trump has only negative outcomes and it's ridiculous to act like it's a silly issue.
They're only "important" if the whole world makes the effort to fulfil the criteria of these policies. It's all very nice saying we should try to mitigate the effects of climate change, but the fact of the matter is only three countries in the Paris Climate agreement are actually trying to meet their obligations. It's like trying to put a candle out in a blazing bushfire. Utterly pointless if you ask me. I wish I was as optimistic as the rest of you are, but I'm not.

I was pretty much in your position in 2015, although maybe not as reliant on heavy drugs, but definitely alcohol.
None of my friends talked to me, all my relationships fell apart at the seams after a couple months and I pretty much spent the entirety of summer shitfaced on vodka alone watching Netflix and shitposting here. I was failing uni something fierce, I developed anxiety, I self harmed a couple times and at one point I came close to the thought of attempting to take my own life.
Then 2016 came along and my friendship lines opened up again. We went on a lads holiday, I went to New York with my fam and I came close to a really serious relationship but ended on good terms due to distance. I'm not gonna sit here and pretend your life is gonna get awesome at the blink of an eye, or that depression is going to solve itself. It won't, but what I will say is that you're young, you've got miles of life ahead of you, and as shitty as it can get, there's interludes of life, albeit brief, that really make it worth living sometimes.
That being said, I'm still failing uni and I may not even get a degree, and by no means am I content with where I am in life, but every now and then I tell myself that I'm only 21, the best years are still ahead of me, and I have myriad of opportunities out there I can seize. Not sure if this post helps, but I can assure you, it will get better at some point even if it feels like there's no end to the disparity of life, because there is.

So is this game worth the price of an entirely new console? I have no intentions of playing any other games on the Switch but this game piques my interest.
