I kinda liked AvP too.

Requiem a shit.

I've seen many a dev's attempt space to ground gameplay before, and their games have all faded into obscurity, and/or the gameplay advertised in the trailers were scripted. As good as it looks, I still remain apprehensive, and I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

I like Fable II.
That's not an unpopular opinion though.
It is. Not many enjoyed the linear aspects and the pisspoor boss battles despite it being an RPG.

Half Life is overrated.

Halo CE, while revolutionary at the time, does not hold up to modern gaming standards and is really just a linear boring corridor shooter that many other games have taken and improved upon vastly. At this point it's just nostalgiafags that think it's the epitome of FPS's.

Halo 3 and ODST are the pinnacle of the Halo franchise. I even like 3's campaign too. Hell, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the gameplay aspect was better than CE's campaign. Although, admittedly the story is an entirely different matter.

I like Fable II.

Fallout 3's setting is better than NV.

Halo 4 is a good game. Not a great game, but not the horrible piece of shit it was made out to be by rabid Bungie fanboys.

AC Brotherhood was better than II.

The Battlefield franchise is awful.

Serious / Re: For those of you who resent the Japanese for Pearl Harbor...
« on: December 08, 2014, 06:52:43 AM »
Pearl Harbor was an unprovoked act of war against America.

No, they were provoked by America withholding oil and steel from the Japanese. It was either go to war or collapse from lack of resources.
No actually. 1940s Japan had a heavily imperialistic culture. They'd already assimilated most of China and the Philippines at that point, and set their gaze upon America since they were right across the Pacific. I don't know what revisionist history you've been reading into, but lack of resources they did not have. They just wanted to attack America because they thought American's as people were subhuman and weak, and because they could.

Now, whether or not US intelligence knew Pearl Harbour was going to happen or not is an entirely different discussion topic in and of itself, but it was most definitely and unprovoked act of aggression on Japan's behalf.

It! The Terror from Beyond Space

Hilarious movie. I mean it's supposed to be serious, but it's just so badly done and cheesy it's like some sort of parody. It did inspire the movie Alien, though, so I do recommend watching it. It's a 50's sci fi film so you know what to expect. Rampant sexism, smoking in the spaceship, horrible physics, ridiculous alien/monster.

There's nothing winter-y about it but I'm just recommending it anyway.

ill check netflix to see if they have the others though, add them to the list.
To be fair, the Thing is over 30 years old. It's a pretty good movie, but not exactly scary by today's standards.

idk, this scene is still pretty terrifying.

Netflix has some of those
UK Netflix only has Fargo and used to have Dead Snow. What really pisses me off too is that they only have the third Die Hard movie but not the others for some weird reason.

UK Netflix is getting fukin shafted mang

It's a cinematic and technical masterpiece, and one of my favourite films of all time. If you're not a horror fan, yeah you're probably right in avoiding it, but I'd still strongly recommend in giving it a shot.

Tis' the season to be comfy, so I thought I'd create a thread dedicated to the recommendations of movies that just have those cosy/winter vibes to them, but don't necessarily have to be Christmas films. Feel free to recommend some yourselves.

Die Hard:

The Thing (1982):

Fargo:

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang:

Serious / Re: Ethics vs Advancement
« on: December 07, 2014, 04:25:08 PM »
It's a tricky one for me, because on the one hand you have something like the grossly unethical conduct of Nazi experimentation's which resulted in disability, disfigurement and the mental distress of a multitude of innocent people, but also advanced scientific and medical inquiry, namely the effects of certain gases and the treatment of hypothermia.

The same goes for the experimentation of animals. I suppose I'm a proponent of advancement if the participants weren't human, or extremely sentient, and that it supports a genuinely beneficial cause like the aforementioned treatment of illnesses. I'd draw the line where it comes to cosmetic purposes or financial gain for a small group of individuals, and the suffering of the participants greatly outweighed the benefits reaped from it.

Actually, they can expect to be shielded from that. Free speech offers you the right to say what you like without fear of being physically attacked by anyone, including those outwith the government.
No, I'm pretty sure it just applies to the government.
No, actually, it's not. It's how WBC make a lot of their money. The formula goes 1) Picket a funeral/gay rally 2) Get assaulted by angry mobs 3) Sue them for breach of the peace/speech and physical assault. It's disgusting and exploitative sure, but it's a loophole in the system they've discovered. Should they voice their opinions in a less volatile and aggressive context? Sure, but they have every right to picket and voice their opinions without fear of being assaulted physically.
That has noting to do with free speech though, and rather the fact that assault is illegal.
They're not mutually exclusive terms.

You have the right to say what you like without fear of being physically assaulted by anyone, but that also means everyone else has the right to call you out on your bullshit and verbally humiliate/disagree/refute whatever rhetoric comes out your mouth. The only time the government should step in on speech, or anyone else for that matter, is when threats are involved in a serious context. Emphasis on serious. A comedian joking about murder/rape/any kind of heinous crime or casual banter between mates are not threats and should never be criminally punishable.

Look everyone he posted it once again. Isn't he just the funniest guy around. Oh my god.
I can almost see your pathetic overweight frame glowing in the dark lit by your computer screen which is the only source of light in your room giggling like a little girl as you once again type your little cuck thread up and fill in the captcha. Or maybe you don’t even fill in the captcha, maybe you’re such a disgusting NEET that you actually paid for a 4chan pass so you just click submit? I imagine you, little shit, laughing so hard as you click it that you drop your Doritos onto the floor. But its ok, your mother will clean it up in the morning. Oh that’s right, did I fail to mention? You live with your mother! You’re a fat fucking fuck up and she’s probably so sick of you already. So sick of having to do everything for you all god damn day, every day, for a grown man who spends all his time on 4chan posting "epic" cuck memes. Just imagine this, she had you and then she thought you were going to be a scientist or an astronaut or something grand and then you became a NEET. A pathetic copypasting NEET. She probably cries herself to sleep everyday thinking about how bad it is and how she wishes she could just disappear. She can’t even talk try to you because all you say is “CUCK. CUCK. CUCK!.”.
You became a parody of your own self. And that’s all you are. A sad little man laughing in the dark by himself as he prepares to indulge in the same old dance that he’s done a million times now.
And that’s all you’lI ever be.
