"If you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to hide"
That's a petty excuse
If I'm not doing nothing wrong then I shouldn't be treated like a criminal nor should I have my rights violated. That's the same talk used by extremist governments such as Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia
And what if the government all of a sudden decides what you're doing IS bad?

Better be careful. I'll employ you into my news agency then get you killed through intricacy and Machiavellian tactics. Yeah.

I think you should get paid as a college student, actually.
Obviously not feasible, but... >capitalism
Some of the Scandinavian countries actually do that, so it's not that unfeasible.
I know it's the dirty socialist in me talking, but I'd gladly pay 80% of my income to taxes if it meant we got a lot more things subsidized.
That's not really socialism. That's just letting the government dominate tertiary education.
I'm not talking about only education. I mean basic income, housing, school, healthcare, etc.
Again like I said, that doesn't bear any resemblance to socialism. That's just inviting the government to every aspect of your life.

Gamergate. The rest were really just fuck ups from the typical publishers and companies that tend to fuck up. Gamergate involved serious ethical issues and journalistic integrity.

The supply of people getting degrees in the labour market has become astronomical in the western world. Simple economics dictates the value of these degrees outweighs the demand for them, essentially rendering majority of undergraduate degrees practically worthless. Subsidizing tertiary education would really only add more supply to an already bloated labour market.
At this point people should be advancing towards apprenticeships and postgraduates, and even then, it's still pretty difficult to land a job. But I do know that subsidization is a bad idea, at least in the long term.

you're not even worth the precious minutes it takes to type up a reply.
...He says in his reply.
It was worth the reply to clarify that it wasn't worth replying after that reply.

yeah, because star wars is totally known for its conventional and quotidian character names
anakin obi-wan yoda boba jango qui-gon leia padmé jabba jar jar han lando mace
sheev is totally out of place
I know you're trying to bait as hard as you possibly can here, but at least half of those names came from the prequels.

Star Wars is pretty much the epitome of tropes. Hell, it probably even created some of them. That doesn't necessarily make it bad. Yeah, just boring.

Everyone needs to chill the fuck out. So Palpatine was given a first name. Big whoop.
Part of the reason what made The Emperor such a good villain was his veil of anonymity. It was bad enough when the prequels came along and gave us an identity, now pretty much everything's a given with him.
I wouldn't really have a problem with it if they had picked something slightly less ridiculous. I mean, a Roman esque name would've been cool, but Sheev? Seriously? That's what they went for?
Good villain? He's one of the tropiest old bag of tropes to ever represent evil on the big screen.

That's the same bullshit argument people used to try and argue why 343i's direction of Halo is inherently bad.
Keeping something a mystery forever is a load of bullcrap. Shit, the Emperor was probably the only good thing about the prequels.
There's a pretty stark difference between what makes a character great and where the direction of a fictional universe should head.

>Star Wars >scientific >hard sci-fi
Pick one.
Star Wars was, at its core, a medieval knight's tale set in space. It was never meant to bear a resemblance to the Scientific inquiry, and Lucas' pathetic attempts to steer the franchise towards that aspect was part of the many reasons why the prequels failed critically and artistically. It should've stuck to its fantasy space opera roots.
"HURR REMEMBER HOW THE FORCE WAS THAT MAGICAL ETHEREAL ENTITY THAT BOUND THE UNIVERSE TOGETHER? LEL JK, ITS ACTUALLY SPACE BACTERIA."

I'm advocating banning Mein Kampf. Thank you for repeating what I already know.
If you have a problem with that, you're being overly liberal and politically correct. That's pretty rich coming from the guy advocating the censorship something because it doesn't align with his beliefs.
I'm not trying to set up anything, what I'm saying is that there's no positive to allow people to read the book. Then tell people that and let them find out for themselves.
It doesn't align with any free man's beliefs. In fact, it aggressively opposes them.
Find out what? That genocide is bad? We already know this and it continues to happen across the world, and we do nothing to stop it. Seriously, this is an incredibly weak argument you're making.
How is it a weak argument? You're the one trying to make the establishment that Mein Kampf is the source of all the evil in the world, not me.

Gaius or Octavious would have been great, as it brings the parallels of Augustus and his creation of the Roman Empire by rewriting the Constitution to suit his personal gain
HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME

We'll talking a universe that gave us Jar Jar Binks as a name.
Star Wars isn't exactly known for it.
Jar Jar Binks was a byproduct of Lucas' full creative control over the prequels. Disney really have no excuses now that he no longer holds the reins.
