It's not "assimilation" it's the fact more than half of them are Tea Party members and the funding comes from the Tea Party which means they run the show. Yup. Funding. I've never once denied the funding and influence the Tea Party has over the GOP. I fail to see how this equals control, however. LOL
Their policies have done nothing but make the poor people poorer and the rich get richer. That's a fucking fact and unless you're a conservative apologist (which you are) you won't try to deny it. >DAS A FUKIN FACT HAHAH >doesn't provide evidence as to how it's a fact kden lmao What on Earth are you talking about? I bash Republicans because they're trash and are destroying America. I want to change the status quo so the country actually improves and we can rid ourselves of people trying to destroy social and economic equality. You're not even talking about the reality of the situation, you're just obsessed with how people act on the Internet and SJW's and use them as an excuse to act like conservatives are being misunderstood. Important distinction here is SJW's don't hold public office and shouldn't, where as Tea Party members hold public office and fund the GOP. And in case you haven't noticed, republicans have a pretty bad track record of saying shit they don't actually do.
Literally conjecture, the post.

I guess I'm just surprised that anyone in this day and age starts smoking.
I understand people who got hooked before we knew how bad it was, but now? There's no reason to start smoking. It's terrible for you and expensive. I don't see the up side to starting smoking.
I'm pretty sure 99% of smokers are aware that smoking is detrimental to their health, but they still do it anyway. Not to mention that state regulation only encourages a black market to open up, as has been repeated throughout history time and time again. The prohibition period and the War On Drugs can attest to that.
Honestly Max, for someone who's a proponent of Marijuana legalisation, I'm pretty surprised you're in support of this.
A black market for cigarettes can't really be compared to one for other substances because you can't just grow cigarettes in your back yard.
Not advocating banning them. Just saying.
Eh? Pretty sure you can grow tobacco relatively easily.

Like I said, it's not some sort of secret. It's like you're asking me to provide proof that Obama is the president. lmao
Dude, you've never been exactly transparent about your origins, and that's fine. But don't get all pissy with someone who made a modest mistake about where you come from. If you want to be identified as an American then clarify that.
Holy shit this guy is orange. I fail to see what this has to do with the Tea Party besides the clickbait title.
"Republicans win congress"
"OMG TEA PARTY IS BEHIND IT ALL"
Yeah no.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/cafe/tea-party-forces-still-control-the-republican-agenda[/url A slightly more reliable source, but nothing short of conjecture once again. I mean, it basically lists a bunch of Republicans that lean far to the right and the article tries to make a causal link between their political alignment and the Tea Party.
Sensationalist nonsense, if you ask me.
It's not the control they had a few years ago, but they're still a huge influence on the GOP and forces running candidates to to basically say "immigrants suck" to one crowd and "immigrants are the backbone of America" to another crowd. As far as I can see given the evidence, all they're doing is throwing their dollars at the GOP. They're all bark but no bite.
Wait what? I meant it's no secret the Tea Party has a huge influence on the Republican party.
Because they're Tea Party? I don't understand why you're treating what I'm saying like some sort of outlandish claim. I'm not saying the republicans are run by space Nazis, I'm saying the Tea Party has a huge influence on them. That's just fact, there isn't even anything to discuss.
There is a stark difference between influencing and actually running, unless you were being hyperbolic in your previous statement.
There isn't when they literally ran the party until recently and still have such a large influence they force all Republicans to adhere to their ideals.
Ran the party? When did this occur?
I'm not understanding the confusion.
Do you follow American politics at all?
I do actually.
Since I'm unfamiliar with this recent Tea Party overhaul within the GOP, all I'm asking is for you to provide proof for these assertions. It shouldn't really be that much of a burden if it's so evident, right?
Like I said in my earlier post where it's like asking for proof that Obama is the president.
It's like you want to have an argument for some reason when no right wing person will say the Tea Party didn't run the Republicans. They proudly talked about it. And there's nothing recent about it. It's been going on for quite a few years.
No it's really not. YOU are the one making the claim here, not me.
Like I said, if it's so blatant within the GOP, then it shouldn't be difficult to provide a semblance of solid evidence.
been described as an example of corporate-funded astroturfing.[61][62][63][64][65][66][67] Other observers see the organization as having its grassroots element "amplified by the right-wing media", supported by elite funding.[47][68] The Tea Party movement is not a national political party; polls show that most Tea Partiers consider themselves to be Republicans[69][70] and the movement's supporters have tended to endorse Republican candidates.[71] Commentators, including Gallup editor-in-chief Frank Newport, have suggested that the movement is not a new political group but simply a re-branding of traditional Republican candidates and policies.[69][72][73] An October 2010 Washington Post canvass of local Tea Party organizers found 87% saying "dissatisfaction with mainstream Republican Party leaders" was "an important factor in the support the group has received so far".[74] Sarah Palin headlined four "Liberty at the Ballot Box" bus tours, to raise money for candidates and the Tea Party Express. One of the tours visited 30 towns and covered 3,000 miles.[202] Following the formation of the Tea Party Caucus, Michele Bachmann raised $10 million for a political action committee, MichelePAC, and sent funds to the campaigns of Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio.[203] In September 2010, the Tea Party Patriots announced it had received a $1,000,000 USD donation from an anonymous donor.[204] In an August 30, 2010, article in The New Yorker, Jane Mayer said that the billionaire brothers David H. Koch and Charles G. Koch and Koch Industries are providing financial and organizational support to the Tea Party movement through Americans for Prosperity, which David founded.[205][206] The AFP's "Hot Air Tour" was organized to fight against taxes on carbon use and the activation of a cap and trade program.[207] Former U.K. ambassador Sir Christopher Meyer wrote in the Daily Mail that the Tea Party movement is a mix of "grassroots populism, professional conservative politics, and big money", the last supplied in part by the Kochs.[208] Mayer says that the Koch brothers' political involvement with the Tea Party has been so secretive that she labels it "covert".[209] Prominent individuals:
In June 2008, Congressman Dr. Ron Paul announced his non profit organization called Campaign for Liberty as a way of continuing the grassroots support involved in Ron Paul's 2007-2008 presidential run. This announcement corresponded with the suspension of his campaign.
In July 2010, Bachmann formed the House congressional Tea Party Caucus. This congressional caucus, which Bachmann chairs, is devoted to the Tea Party's stated principles of "fiscal responsibility, adherence to the Constitution, and limited government".[199] As of March 31, 2011, the caucus consisted of 62 Republican representatives.[76] Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Melissa Clouthier have accused them of trying to hijack or co-opt the grassroots Tea Party Movement.[200] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Party_movement
Here I was thinking everybody kept up with politics and knew who was running the show.
Yeah, this is influential. I never denied the influence the Tea Party has over the GOP.
Once again, sensationalist nonsense.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/cafe/tea-party-forces-still-control-the-republican-agenda http://theweek.com/speedreads/453791/gop-civil-war-over-tea-party-won http://www.tpnn.com/2014/06/12/democrats-admit-defeat-the-tea-party-has-taken-control-of-the-gop/ http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/national-party-news/233967-tea-party-anaconda-swallows-the-republican-party
And if you actually do follow American politics as you claim to, you'd know how many Tea Party members are Republican politicians.
As if the GOP isn't bad enough, they're controlled by practical fascists. They're against equality socially and economically. Not sure why you're trying to down play it this much when you have no fucking clue how crazy right wing politicians are in America and actually think they're a viable choice for government.
I think it's like what 40/50% of Republicans identify as a member? Obviously not an ideal percentage, but it's not exactly a complete assimilation, is it? Certainly not the level of control you're making it to be anyway. If you've got any solid statistics that prove me wrong, I'd certainly like to see it. Economically incompetent? Nah bro. Most of their economic policies actually make a lick of sense with the exception of healthcare. I know you like to jump the gun with anything that even hints at leaning slightly conservative or right wing, but if you actually take the time to research what these policies aim to do, you'd support them as well. Of course you wont, because you just want to maintain the status quo of sensationalist Republican bashing.

What is Reddit, anyway? Apart from obviously being a website, that is. What is it about? All I know is that it apparently has the shittiest community on the web, so I've never bothered going there.
You serious? It's a website where you can post links and articles about news, politics, games, movies, maymays etc while other rate it via the upvote/downvote system. Sounds like a neat concept in theory, but not in practice. As you said, the community consists of insufferable liberal fedoras, (sometimes progressive too) who are usually very reluctant to have their opinions called into question, listen to opposing viewpoints, or use a source other than the Huffington Post. This is why center-right/libertarians like myself share no interest whatsoever with reddit, because anytime we voice our viewpoints, the leddit mob tends to shout it down using the aforementioned upvote/downvote system. I honestly wouldn't mind it were it not consisted of cretins.

The Tea Party controls the Republican Party, and these people are greedy and corrupt to the fullest. You can act like there's an equal amount of good and bad on both sides, but it just isn't true.
I knew you guys wouldn't understand his speech. And that's the really sad thing, there are very few who can truly appreciate Obama and this speech. Of course you're going to come back to this post and separate it and cherry pick it and use some random examples in a feeble attempt to try and prove yourself right or try and prove your point of view when you couldn't be further from the truth. And I mean that in the most respectful way possible, but you guys live in a world separated from reality, and that isn't something you want to hear. You guys don't want to hear that. It's something you'll never understand and you'll call me a fool for saying it, but it doesn't change the truth.
Sorry, but aren't you non American yourself? And the whole 'Tea Party running the Republicans' is about as Noelle posting as it gets. Funding doesn't mean running. Sarah Silverman, Jon Stewart, Steve Bing etc have a lot of ties and funds to the Democrat party, but by no means do they run it.

Yeah no, spare me the propaganda. Sure, he's absolutely right when he says it's a disservice to the country and the democratic process by not voting, but it's also a disservice to yourself to be swept up in blatant appeal to emotion speeches. Vote for who you believe can change the country for the better, not who can speak the most eloquently.

You going to explain how or are you just going to make a clickbait thread about it?

tbh I gave up on the Halo lore after 4. Not that I'm one of those melodramatic "HALOL 4 NOT MUH HALO" type of spergs, I just don't find 343's ideas that engaging. There's just something about it that's too...artificial and clean and lacks the gritty touch of Bungie.
