Yes you do.
If we actually were cracking down on speech you wouldn't have even witnessed that demonstration.

Which is exactly what "take it up the ass" means. It means you demand nothing from them and let them do as they please, essentially raping British culture.
There's a difference between culture assimilation and silencing speech. Not sure why you're conflating the two.

At my university I saw a few times a group of fundamentalist Muslims claiming Christians, Jews, and Atheists were going to burn. It's all about free speech, man, no matter how disgusting it may feel. I'd be more disgusted by government intervention. The best result is seeing people ignore them completely.
Yeah ignoring it sure did stop the tube being blown the fuck up.

For starters, America doesn't have such an issue with extremist Muslims. I don't see what cracking down on speech would do except galvanize more fringe Muslims to embrace extremism.
But Britain does. And all these fools do is bend over and take it up the ass from Mohammed.
No we don't.

The reason we have such a problem with Islamic culture in the UK is because we fucking suck at assimilation, hence why American Muslims differ so much from British Muslims. The US places heavy emphasis on coming into the country and adapting to the US way of life, whilst keeping in touch with your own culture. The UK just thinks multiculturalism is the fucking answer to all immigration problems, no thanks to New Labour.

With the amount of shit flinging that goes on here I can't see it really happening. Although for me, personally, I'd certainly be willing to try.

Unless they were disrupting the peace or actually were trying to commit acts of terrorism, I don't see the problem. I mean, yeah, sure it's disgusting shit, but they have as much right to exercise their freedom of speech (and in this case, putrid speech) as much as we do. It's kind of a two way street.

If you get so offended by the sounds that exude out of people's mouths and letters written on a piece of cardboard that you think actually warrants censorship, then perhaps you're better off visiting North Korea instead of a developed country.

Flee, just lock the thread. I have no patience to debate ignorance anymore.

He's absolutely right. You only need to look to Rotherham to reconcile with that.

Telling him to fuck off to Reddit is respectful? lolok
Yeah, because those were the exact words I used right enough.

I welcome you to dig through my post history and highlight where I've done that apart from "discussions" with Kinder.
These are just some excerpts from the Trayvon Martin discussion we had:

No. I clearly said I don't blame him for calling the cops. Do you have reading comprehension problems or are you stupid? What the fuck?

I know you struggle to keep up with even basic economic jargon in Meta's threads, but that doesn't mean you need to bring your ignorance in here
Need I go on?

And yeah, I'm probably equally as guilty for being a sanctimonious asshole in other threads as well, but at least I can admit it and not commit flagrant hypocrisy at the same time.

He has valid points and you guys don't exactly have great rebuttals to them.
Idk about you, but I wouldn't really consider blatant strawman and irrelevant arguments "valid points"
Quote
Then when he decides to stop posting (a bit hysterically I'll agree), you guys all mock him. Pretty weak, but like I said I expect it from you and Turkey.
There's a difference between mocking someone and trying to point out their erroneous arguments. You're only defending him because his political opinions align with yours. Replace Kupo with Kinder and I guarantee you'd have absolutely no problem "ganging up" on him as well. In fact, I'd probably wager you'd be the biggest instigator.

You're a fucking joke. The three of you, really--any respect I had for you died with this thread.
I have to admit, you guys have been very disrespectful and started jacking each other off when he decided to stop responding.

That's isn't how you have a civilized conversation, and though you may not have been calling Kupo anything, but you might as well have. I expect it from Mordo and Turkey, but I'm disappointed in you Meta.
Disrespectful? Please highlight anywhere in this thread, especially me, where we resorted to personalised ad hominem attacks, because I'd really like to know. And for someone that regularly engages in that sort of behavior himself when things start getting a little abrasive, you're really in no position to talk.

It's simply a heated discussion. Kupo couldn't take said heat, so went full damage control, and now he's throwing a temper tantrum because he couldn't get his last reply. You could call it "ganging up on" if you want, but if anyone's being immature here, it's Kupo.

I'd actually really like to see you guys' reactions to a situation like this. It's all fine and dandy saying one thing, but when it comes to walking the walk, I bet nearly all of you would pussy out.
I'd yank that kid up so hard it'd nearly break his arm, then drag him to his parents and curse them up one side and down the other for their little shit of a son.

If you want a discussion on a website where literally everyone agrees with your rhetoric, then you're absolutely welcome to leave.

And Turkey's right. Perhaps instead of trying to get the last word in, you should maybe reevaluate your own position in this debate. It takes a hell of a lot more decency to man up and admit you were wrong instead of stringing everyone along, acting like a belligerent asshole trying to pretend he's right, when everything we've suggested points to the contrary.

Serious / The Post Antibiotic era
« on: April 02, 2015, 08:54:04 PM »
Likeliness of this happening? I'm not a microbiologist, but given how we've been abusing antiobiotics for the past 60 years I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this became a reality in the next 20-30 years. In fact, WHO reckons we're on the brink, and we might not even get to see the effects of global warming take place because of it. Not to mention that global pandemics have practically caused as many deaths as WW2, with The Spanish Influenza taking the top spot at 75 million people. But the Spanish Influenza was just a small spurt of an epidemic. Smallpox on the other hand, is believed to have killed 300-500 million people over the course of the 20th century.

Obviously the likeliness of these diseases making a recurrence is pretty unlikely, but it must be noted that viral pathogens mutate to accommodate hosts all the time, and with bacterial infections like E-coli and Gonorrhea adapting to the effects of Antibiotics (there's only one type of Antibiotic left for Gonorrhea)  it would be dangerous to hand wave the idea of a deadly pathogen cropping up amidst an era where Antibiotics have essentially become futile .

So, could this relapse in Antibiotics in the near future be the most viable scenario for an extinction event to occur?

This is b8 right?

What about Faith Healing? A practice so antiquated and practically medieval that to even suggest it in modern medicine would get you laughed out of the building. Was that discredited by 40 year old virgins as well?

it's the exact same shit that farmers had to deal with when the 'experts' rolled into town and said to dig up all the trees and remove the fences on the farmland because it gives you extra space on the land, after that they couldn't understand why all the topsoil was getting kicked around and blown away by the elements. 2 years later they finally realized what every experienced farmer knew, that those trees and fences were put there to block the soil and act as a barrier.
I'm not sure what agriculture has to do with child rearing.

this is the same case, the mother of 5 knows a fuck ton more about raising children
If you know any single mothers like I do you know this is pure and utter bullshit. I wouldn't at all be surprised if we started seeing Millennials and Gen Y make a serious regression in education and job tenure in the near future.

and what works than the armchair psychologist who's only conducting a study for a paycheck.
A psychologist that has meticulously studied the inner workings of the psyche, and in this case child psychology, knows less than a stay at home mum simply because he/she is being compensated for their work?

Yeah okay bro, sure.

Corporal or physical punishment has no scientific or statistical backing in aiding a child's developmental process, so yeah, there's that. If anything I'd hit the parents for raising them in such a shitty manner.
Swinging a bat at other children warrants a slap.

If you try to harm others, you'll be harmed yourself. Thing is the dad should've slapped him and not the other guy.
idk if it warrants a slap, especially from another parent, but using physical force to remove the child from the situation that is potentially endangering your own child, yeah all for it.

When I see misbehaving little shits, in the playground, public or wherever, I don't ever place responsibility on the child. I immediately blame the shitty excuses for parents for raising them that way.
Oh, no doubt.

But the child needs to be taught a lesson and an explanation as to why you can't get what you want by threatening others with physical violence.
And that's the parents, and perhaps maybe the state's responsibility, not some random unrelated parent who happens to be in the same vicinity as the child in question.

his kid was getting beat with a baseball bat, who wouldn't slap the shit out of the shit eating mongrel beating your kid with a baseball bat? hell, I'd take it a step further and beat the shit out of the dad for being such a shitty parent if it were my kid.
Unfortunately you can't just go around kicking the shit out of children for what is essentially the adult's fault/responsibility. A kid at that age doesn't even know what he/she's doing is wrong, and just senselessly resorting to violence, from behalf of either the parents or a random, isn't going to teach him/her anything. Like I said, there's no scientific evidence to suggest corporal punishment alleviates or improves a child's behaviour.

I'd actually really like to see you guys' reactions to a situation like this. It's all fine and dandy saying one thing, but when it comes to walking the walk, I bet nearly all of you would pussy out.

Sure, an occasional smack to the backside once in a blue moon conveys the fact that what they did was extremely inappropriate. Hell, my mum only lifted a finger to me once and I turned out relatively okay. But when you overdo the whole physical punishment thing, the only lesson you're teaching the child is to avoid getting caught, instead of avoiding misbehavior altogether.

Depends. I wouldn't actually classify myself as a chubby chaser per se, I just find nearly every body type extremely attractive, sans the morbidly obese and the anorexic. I would consider myself a sort of bisexual for body types really.
