I think it's because Marvel so far has failed to deliver any good villains. The heroes are great, and they're very well-developed, but you can't match the Bale/Ledger combo. The only thing that could hold a candle to that relationship is Loki in Avengers.
Iron Man 3 had a shot, but they killed it with the lame Mandarin twist.
Never really found Loki all that interesting tbh. "le edgy overlooked little brother villain" Yawn, seen it before. Robert Redford in TWS was a lot better.

Like seriously, the MCU is fun I guess, but I genuinely cannot, for the life of me, think of a solitary movie that can hold its own critically and artistically with TDK. Even fantastic films outside the MCU (Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2) just cannot compete.

S2 took a complete 180. They gutted all the occult shit that made S1 so great and had the setting take place in LA, the most overdone, overused city ever depicted in crime shows.
At least they have somewhat serviceable actors and characters, but Vaughn's monologues are getting a bit cringeworthy. Not sure what angle they're going with "le closeted motorcycle man" but it really isn't interesting me at all.
So yeah, it's good, but the consistency between the seasons is jarring.

It only applies to off licenses and supermarkets. You can still stroll into a pub/club and order a cheeky pint just like everywhere else. Every day at 12:00 PM, they play James Brown's 'It's a Man's World' over the intercom to remind all employees of their place.
