No. The tertiary education sector is massively over inflated, partly because people have been instilled with this idea that they're primed to fail in life if they don't make it into college/uni when that's absolutely not the case.

White people are still too arrogant and dumb to get why black people do what they do? Who cares what this black kid did? The fact is that unarmed black people get shot on a regular basis. And this isn't even new, police harassment has been going on in the black community since we dropped the cotton sacks. This is why we riot, because we're tired of white people thinking they can do whatever and get away with it. It's gotten to the point where rioting and fighting is the only thing that grabs white peoples attention. We've been peaceful too long, and clearly that doesn't work.
I don't think anyone here with the exception of PSU genuinely thinks systemic discrimination within the police against the black population went away.
Most of our disdain, however, stems from these activists and apologists trying to excuse/justify anti-social behaviour (the dude shot at a cop for fuck sake like, what did he expect) simply on the basis that they're black. These people like Jesse Jackson etc unintentionally or not, are partially fuelling these riots and giving people a justification to steal/wreck the community.
That guy is a dumb ass by anyone's standards so I just ignore what he says.
Anyway, I'll agree with you on the basis of this situation in which the facts came out about him shooting at the cop. That's when we as black people should have probably took a step back, but you have to understand a lot of information was missing in the beginning when the riots kicked off, and I'd say a lot of what's happening now is due more to momentum of the chaos as opposed to the actual shooting. But we also have to look at the fact that a lot of black people are angry because brown isn't the first, and probably won't be the last black person to get shot. I swear I keep reading headlines of a cop shooting niggas. To a lot of whites it's just another nigga off the earth but it's tragic to us.
Dude, both Brown's independent and judicial autopsy confirmed he went for Wilson's gun. Black, white, Asian, it doesn't matter. You go for a police officer's gun you get cut the fuck in half. Race isn't a factor in fight or flight situations. I'm all for curtailing police brutality against the black population, but a little personal responsibility on both sides goes a long way.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth you clown.
Stats don't lie. More whites were shot by police than blacks.
Violent Crimes are committed more by blacks than whites even though blacks make up a much smaller portion of the population.
More densely populated areas of blacks experience more crime.
These are all facts. Stop blaming everyone else and start blaming yourselves.
No they're not. Blacks are killed far more disproportionately by law enforcement in relation to their population statistic. Whites are killed more on average because there's more whites in the country.

Season 1-3 is great though, and S4 is serviceable.
S5 is a fucking shitshow piece of fan fiction.

Am I glad that the universities and general society over here has not been tainted with this kind of stuff I keep reading about.
It's happening in the UK, though. Shit's spreading to Europe.
About six months ago the national students' union banned gays wearing drag because it 'appropriates' black woman culture.
fucking what?
It's pretty much considered normal behaviour now in United Cuckdom academia.

nb nb I think the underpinning sentiments we share here is the cultism/religiosity aspects of S1 that had a lot of us so captivated. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. S2 is good as a standalone detective drama with political conspiracy elements, but it's by far a good True Detective season. If Pizza decides to go back to occultism, then I'm not bothered what theme/director etc he rolls with.

country/americana with occultism themes
That was overdone five years ago. S1 succeeded despite that, not because of it.
You're having a giggle right? 90% of cop dramas are set in LA and have plotlines that follow either 1) edgy police corruption or 2) edgy mob conspiracy. No, True Detective S1 wasn't the first of its kind, but it certainly was a breath of fresh air from the saturated setting of LA.

ew lets be glad you're not making the third season
>implying a return to country/americana isn't what this series desperately needs
immolate yourself
it seems like you just want an edgey regurgitation of season 1
I actually just want something that made me so invested in S1 again. As long as it isn't California again I'm cool. This would just be my dream season.

Why they extracted all the occult shit that made the first season interesting I will never know.
It's basically just a generic Sunday afternoon cop show now. All these names get tossed about and I have no idea who or what they're referring to because I literally care for no one besides Velcoro.
There's no chemistry between the characters, and there's barely any time to develop any emotional connection with them by juggling four main leads over the course of a 50 minute episode.
Yes, it is shit. I didn't expect them to top season 1 but I also didn't expect them to drop the fucking ball on quality either.
Season 1 was a Southern Gothic mystery. The occult stuff fit with that theme.
Season 2 is a love letter to film noir. Of course the occult stuff was gonna be toned down- but wait, what's this? We still have some looming mystery regarding hippie spirituality.
Oh wow, a "looming" mystery that was alluded to only one episode ago.
I've honestly seen cop "noir" done to death, especially when the setting takes place in LA, the most overly depicted city in tv/cinema. They could've picked literally any urban area/town in America and capitalize on the occultism shit that made everyone so invested in the first season, but no, they played it as safe as they possibly could.
One episode ago? Jeez dude you really have not been paying attention.
The sex party was really the first hint we got there was some kind of hippie conspiracy going on, unless you want to count the first episode with Bezzirides dad.
How about that picture connecting the Chessanis and Pitlor with Big Daddy B? Pitlor's comment about the "traditions of the Chessani patriarchs" comes to mind- he seemed genuine when he said that he couldn't help Mrs Chessani. Something very fucked up clearly happened. How about all of the odd bird iconography? Antigone goes by Ani- an ani looks like this.
There was a picture of a black bird similar to an ani in Pitlor's office. Another picture of a bird in the motel room Antigone and Ray stay in after the incident at the mansion. Of course, there's the Birdman from episode 2. And then, I'm fairly certain there was a hippogriff mask hanging on the wall in the state park cabin where that prost was murdered. It was definitely some sort of animal mask- I'll have to check to be sure. It looks like it could be a pig with a cigar- something Ani saw at the party while she was hallucinating. The animal iconography is very strong throughout the season though. Possibly omens of death- it would fit well with the tragedy of Antigone's character, especially.
And then, there's Big Daddy B's comment about Ray's aura. The strong David Lynch-inspired scenes at the Black Rose bar lend themselves to a certain spirituality as well.
There's a strong sense of surrealism throughout Season 2. Does it exist in the same nature as the Lovecraftian themes from Season 1? No, but it's definitely still there, and it fits very well with the neo-noir theme.
Iconography and symbolism doesn't constitute good writing. S2 may well have a lot of hidden messages but that doesn't compensate for the lacklustre characters and meandering plot that I really don't have any patience for. Perhaps I jumped the gun. In terms of a cop drama, it's serviceable. In terms of a True Detective season, it's pretty shitty.
