Speaking from your own biases here. Some old cunt from 1940 probably could just as easily feel that "nigger" does come off the tongue easily, and being able to just say "nigger" instead of otherwise describing a person is incredibly convenient.
Whether or not "nigger" rolls off the tongue doesn't make it a word that's used for convenience or one of the main every day words in the English language. "Nigger" could be erased from the world and the English language would be fine, not the case for "he/she".

Maybe "nigger" used to be the acceptable way to refer to a black person, but it fell out of use by the insistence of black people that it be stopped. It didn't just happen naturally; the acceptability of the phrase had to be intentionally erased. I imagine we're seeing the same thing here, where maybe it's currently okay (but really not) to intentionally refer to an open transperson by a pronoun or name they don't prefer, and they're fighting against it so that in X number of years people will see it as as hateful of an intention as using the word "nigger".
Calling someone a he when they don't want to be called a he is hardly comparable to a racial slur with hundreds of years of historic prejudice and hostility behind it.

I mean, it's a pretty fucking reductionist way of looking at this. I'm not trivialising trans people's experiences but it's insulting to draw an equivalence between the two.

The Black Community: "The portrayal of our race within the media is incredibly problematic as it causes us to be perceived though negative stereotypes, which fuels racism. Also the word nigger is offensive and very sensitive for us. Please refrain from using it."

Also The Black Community: *Invents Gangster Rap and insists on calling each other niggers.*

I think you have a deep misunderstanding of what hip hop culture actually is. Not surprising from white people of the 4chan generation who think being edgy is cool though.

The black community is tired of discrimination. White edgelords can claim "le doesn't exist" but there is a very clear distinction between how different races are treated in this country.  Cops don't beat white people like they do black people and it has everything to do with racism and generalization (see: you generalizing an entire race). Hip hop culture is about embracing the shit you've been dealt with, the poverty and the racial slurs, and making music out of it.  I can tell all of you dumbasses must be from rural Michigan or some garbage flyover state from what I read on here, it's like you don't even interact with black people. I live in Atlanta and almost nobody gives a fuck when I white person says nigga unless it's actually them being racist.  I've seen people get offended by it and they just get laughed at

But of course this is sep7agon, a mutant spawn of retards with brain damage that couldn't quite make it on 4chan.  You can tell with inbreds like challengerx who make up some racist edgelord shit and then disappear when another white loser like himself shoots up a school for the 5th time this month

If you're going to invite someone to be participatory on stage you can't then turn around and be buttblasted at them for rapping the lyrics to your own song.

Well, context is key for one. Calling someone a patently hateful racial epithet is pretty cut and dry. Misgendering someone could be a simple misunderstanding. Even if it was intentional, it could simply boil down to a matter of personal belief, and nothing relating to hatred or incitement of violence to an individual. Not to mention you have to actually prove the speech was for malicious intent.

So I'm not entirely sure how you would go about legally compelling people not to misgender someone. It's too much of a grey area.
it is my personal belief, nothing relating to hatred or incitement of violence, that your name is "fuckbrain"

you have to prove that this speech is for malicious intent to compel me otherwise
Oh shit I just got nae nae'd :-0

What is everyone's main issues with Thor: The Dark World?

I thought it was decent
Lame and forgettable villain, lame and forgettable plot, lame and forgettable characters and lame and forgettable dialogue. Like Maverick said, it comes across as a hapless cash in on the Avengers hype train without having to actually create a new an interesting phase two movie. Cheapen the effects and it could almost be considered an early 2000s Daredevil/Catwoman tier capeshit.

Okay maybe not that bad but it's a pretty fucking innocuous movie compared to the others.

Does anyone else think Incredible Hulk sticks out like a sore thumb? Tonally it just doesn't come across as an MCU movie at all. I understand this was the initial building block of the universe building but if it wasn't for the shoe horned RDJ cameo you could almost forget this was part of the franchise.

the problem i see with TWD and GoT is that they don't seem to have any discernible method for who and how they kill their characters--it feels random and arbitrary, like a soap opera, which, sure, adds tension in the laziest and most superficial way, but it's unearned and there's no lesson, message, or anything to take way from that death other than "oh no, my favorite character died for basically no reason, hopefully he actually lived somehow"
Not that I disagree with a lot of your post, but I don't think this is accurate. At least not when it applies to GoT anyway. I don't really have a dog in TWD fight.

Part of what makes GoT interesting is the various and seemingly insignificant choices the characters make which eventually culminate to their demise. You can trace all their decisions back for a couple seasons and see how and why they got to where they are.

Take Robb and Ned Stark for example. You can pinpoint exactly where the characters fucked up at various points in the show (disrespecting Walder Frey, trusting Littlefinger etc), which makes you think in hindsight, maybe these characters aren't as special as you initially thought.

So I don't think the show boils down to "hurr durr so randumb and subversive XD", but more like, yeah, there's legitimate consequences to the choices characters make in this universe.
I'm assuming there's the obligatory "until about season 5" comment you need to mentally add.
Ehhh there's some stuff in season 5 that you can tell they at least tried to emulate from the books, like Jon's decision to let the Wildlings through the wall, but yeah, post season 5 they just went full TV show fan service.

Adam from YMS is the exact same, and it's obnoxious as fuck.
i would agree in general, but not so much in re adam

he tends to revile "critics" like cinemasins for doing that sort of thing and making it their gimmick, because it's poisonous for film criticism

when adam nitpicks, he's pretty good at finding ways to justify why it matters to him, and it often boils down to 1.) what the director was intending to do, and 2.) what the film itself is trying to accomplish, and sometimes, it's the little minute details (like having the foresight to tell actors to shout during a scene that will have loud music added later in post, a la The Social Network club scene) that show just how much, or how little, a director cared to go that extra mile

and yeah, sometimes, those minute details can definitely undermine the director's vision, and the lack of foresight or general laziness of it is certainly worthy of criticism

for him, it's about good artistry, and he's never really gotten terribly annoying with that imo

but when cinemasins does it, it's just autism for the sake of autism, and you can tell there's no real rhyme or reason for it
But it's gotten to the point where he will literally overanalyze an irrelevant movie mistake or some trivial character flaw for twenty minutes and then totally forget to actually, you know, review the film. He's virtually incapable of suspending his disbelief over such frivolous details at this point.

Take his latest two YMS reviews for example. A Quiet Place and RPO. I haven't seen RPO, but his Quiet Place review was a fucking joke. He spent at least a good 50% of the review picking apart character decisions he thought were flawed, when in fact, were quite easily explained throughout the film had he been paying attention. Then he had the fucking gaul to use the "you're just not using ur brain ugh ugh plebs" card.

Nothing of structure was mentioned. Nothing about character development nor overall entertainment value were examined. I think he briefly touched upon acting for a couple seconds and then immediately went into his autistic nitpicking frenzy.

It's fine to point out plot holes or details you found were a little hammy, but if it literally consumes your entire experience of the film then I'm sorry to say, the issues lie with you, not the movie.

Spoiler
Cont.

>I find it hard to believe no one on the bus saw Peter jump out and slingshot away.
>Why did Cap and Co. waste time getting War Machine? Just call him and tell him to meet them at the edge of Wakanda, they might have had time to get Vision's stone out.
>Why didn't Tony send the other suits to help him in the NY fight?
>Why didn't Squidward just kill Strange and let Thanos rip the stone from the corpse? He wouldn't have failed, he was just unable to get the stone off the body himself.
>Why did token black guy teleport Hulk away instead of Thor? Banner does literally nothing for the entirety of the film and the dude knew Thor better than angry green man.
>How did Thor teleport back to Earth without token black guy? No one has ever been shown to have teleport magic.
>Why didn't purple Bruce Willis just teleport closer to Vision and Scarlet Witch?
>Why didn't Black Panther just use kinetic energy armor to blast all the Zerglings away when they overran him.
>Why is Black Panther's sister still such a massive bitch?
>Why didn't Strange just teleport Squidward away like they did with Axe dude?
>Why didn't Thanos immobilize Quill like he did with the others?
>Why didn't he do that on Titan?
>Why didn't the Titan govt. kill or lock up Thanos for his crazy idea?
>Why would Gamora keep the knife of her father whom she hates?
>Why didn't she just use the knife to kill herself so Thanos couldn't get the soul stone?
>How does Skeletor know everything about Thanos?
>Since his mission is complete, Thanos should use five of the six stones to destroy one so no one can use it again to revert his actions.
>If Loki and Thor had the space cube, why didn't they use it all during the events of Ragnarok? Or against Thanos?
>What would Nick Fury had done if Thanos killed Capt. Marvel at random?
>Why didn't Thanos use the gauntlet to induce celibacy? It would solve a lot of degenerate problems on Earth.
>If Thanos is killing half the universe at random, is he included? Wouldn't that also kill more than half other races around the universe possibly or make an entire race go extinct? Trillions is a big number.
>If Thanos by himself is so powerful he can beat Hulk, why did he waste ten years sending goons out to collect the stones?
>Why didn't he just spend one of those ten years fighting in the Holy Grail War? Using the Grail to kill everybody almost worked for Karl.
>Is Thanos the Avatar? Master of all four elements six Infinity Stones? Who will bring balance to the world universe by defeating the Fire Nation The Avangers.
I have my qualms with the film but Jesus Christ, if you can't suspend your disbelief over a couple insignificant minutiaes of the film then what the fuck are you doing there. Unless it's some glaringly obvious plot hole that can't be explained, shut the fuck up.

Adam from YMS is the exact same, and it's obnoxious as fuck. If you're enjoyment of the film is ruined because of your autistic nitpicking then you're the problem, not the film.
