Serious / Re: Is Society Afraid of Sexuality?« on: September 15, 2015, 09:03:53 AM »There are good and bad attributes to basically every activity we tend to engage in. The important thing is actively trying to balance out or reverse whatever minutely negative consequence a "Fun" activity might have. To say that "Most" people's pleasure is revolved around the three things you listed is pretty inaccurate. People entertain themselves in significantly broader ways, and with a much greater frequency. You just like to pick apart the negatives much more than the positives. No, Verb, everything is not shit. There is, in fact, pleasure to be found in life sometimes. That doesn't mean everything isn't shit—we're just great at distracting ourselves. And how much of that pleasure is actually rational or meaningful, anyway? MOST people's pleasure is revolved around either drugs, alcohol, sex, or some combination of the three. Taking risks. 2806

There is, in fact, pleasure to be found in life sometimes.Eating is also a horrendously disgusting process when you get down to the crude mechanisms that are allowing it to happen, but I still like to eat tasty food. If you reword or break apart concepts and actions to their base components, you can basically make anything sound like shit.Exactly. Because everything IS shit. Eating is terrible, too, I agree. Do you think I enjoy being a vegan? 2807

The Flood / Re: Bodybuilders« on: September 14, 2015, 05:51:38 PM »I found lifting to be an extremely tedious/exhausting activity though. I'm weak as fuck and I struggled on the lightest weights at the gym.Well, it's suppose to be exhausting, but there's really no reason for it to be tedious; assuming you've either borrowed or developed a varied, extensive workout routine. If you've wandered into a gym with no real vision of what you're trying to accomplish, or an understanding of the means to make progress, then it's not going to be an enjoyable activity. There's no shame in starting on the light weights, and no reason to feel embarrassed, we all start from somewhere. 2809
Serious / What do you do to try to preserve the environment?« on: September 14, 2015, 05:02:54 PM »
It's my Freshman year in college, not even two weeks in, and I've already become fascinated with energy conservation and environmental preservation because of a course I'm taking called "21st Century Living Solutions." Only a few classes down, but we've already discussed so much, and the readings/videos we've been assigned to asses are incredibly interesting; they really put into perspective the ease with which people can make lasting contributions to making life and technology more sustainable. It got me thinking about how many things I could do to start helping preserve the environment, and just live a more economically sensible, moral life.
What do you do to try to help out? What are some ways that you've tried to reduce your carbon footprint, or just to help create a better future for humanity? 2810
The Flood / Re: Bodybuilders« on: September 14, 2015, 04:26:04 PM »
That picture looks either photoshopped, or he's had synthol injections. His arms, specifically his biceps, are completely disproportional to the rest of his body. Same with his legs, to be honest. I'm not saying it's impossible that's his legitimate physique, but it doesn't look very real to me. Regardless, people who get into bodybuilding like that really don't care about whether or not they look good in other peoples' eyes. It's a matter of just trying to accomplish an extreme feat of physical effort.

Serious / Re: "Gender neutral"« on: September 13, 2015, 07:47:11 PM »
The arguments behind the definitions of gender, sexual identity, and the like have become so convoluted and dissonant, that I really don't pay attention to them anymore. To me, people can identify as whatever the hell they want to. Although I think there's a point where we can be carried away with how much of a niche sexuality we classify ourselves as. I remember reading some Reddit post on /r/Relationships where a guy argued that he couldn't find a good partner because he was "Sapiosexual." That is, he was attracted only to intelligence. Which is, obviously, a retarded idea. He was just a bisexual guy who liked smart people.
