Where you at jono? We got hit hard last night too

153
Are you going to get 21 kills with those 20 shots?

Do squirrels fragment enough to cause collateral?

Do you talk about anything besides guns?

You must have missed my Tim Curry thread yesterday. Don't worry, many did.
so hardly ever

you sound like fun

Says the one who criticizes my posts because I post how I post and I have fun doing it.

Is that good value for money? I'm not well informed on gun logistics.
lol no

But at the same time it's either pay 50 bucks for instant gratification
or pay 35 dollars with 15 dollars shipping on a single box of ammo and have to wait.

It's 2.50 a shot.

why do you bother owning a rifle that sucks to use

Who say's it sucks to use?

It's just a tad expensive.
when it comes to shooting volume = fun
but unfortunately volume = money

Slinging 405 grain bullets can be fun, or I hope so. But it's a one at a fucking time kind of thing.

Remington Core Lokt 45-70. 405 grain bullet. Stark contrast to my .17 HMR which is on average a 17 grain bullet.

Woo for extremes!

Are you going to be camping as well?

Maybe for a night. Not sure likely, but the potential is there.

Lighter/matches

Have a dynamo flashlight

GPS

Get a fukken knife m8, the right one may even be able to replace the axe.

Mountain House meals have always made good MREs for day trips.

Replace pliers with a good multitool.

Optimise your shit to save weight.

Get a better bag too. Unless u like the one u have

Forgot to mention, I have a few small folders. But really, I can't see the utility of an Ax being beaten by either a fixed blade or a folder.

I'm not packing to go on a 5 day backpacking hike. I'm packing some bare minimums in case shit goes south and I get stuck somewhere. Stuff I can fall back on should the need arise. The pack will serve as storage for that, and other bits of kit I may want to haul out there, like ammo and such.

So what like a bugout bag?

And a decent sized fixed blade optimized for batoning wood can replace an axe, especially a hand axe, while still being useful as a knife.

What exactly are you using this bag for?

Mixture of BoB, hunting bag, and general carry bag when out shooting/walking in the desert

Sounds like you've never been hiking before if you want to bring ammo and an axe.

My version of hiking is walking out in the desert. Perhaps a few miles with opportunities to shoot shit.

When I say Hiking, think of more a catchall for shooting, hunting, desert walks. Some fallback supplies, maybe a lunch, basic equipment, and ammo if I need it.
What do you need an axe for in the desert

Plan on encountering Tusken raiders?

Because some times I find my self in scrub land or chapraelle too, which both can have trees and bushes large enough to split with a hand ax.

I have a Swedish 35L ruck sack. Milsurp, nothing unusual. But I want to start building a hiking/innadesert pack. Trying to think of things that should go into it.

So far I got the basics covered.
Hand Ax
Compass
Flashlight
Emergency Whistle
Bandages
Water container
Pliers
Thermometer
Some ziploc bags.

I probably should add an E-blanket and fill out my First Aid kit.

Some water purification tablets wouldn't be a bad idea.

Maybe a few MREs that I can add before a trip just in case

I should add a map of at least my area.

What else do you guys think I should add?

Serious / Re: Army: Women will have to register for the draft
« on: October 14, 2015, 01:18:48 AM »
Hopefully this will get congress to actually do away with the draft.

The military doesn't even want it in place so it doesn't even serve the institution it was implemented to.

The "Draft" hasn't existed in any meaningful form for quite a number of years now.

Why selective Service remains is to serve as a pool of people that can be drawn at time of great crisis. Like, say, an actual war on the home front. You bet your sweet ass that if were actually invaded that the Draft would make a full come back. Not that if we were to fight a war on our soil that there wouldn't be a huge influx of volunteers.

Which would never happen anyway so it's pointless to keep it around.

Never and Unlikely are two entirely different beasts.

We did fight World War II on US Soil after all. Lest the Aleutian Campaign be forgotten.

Stop

There will never be another war like WWII and no nation on Earth is capable of conducting a successful invasion of the US.

It will never happen.

You say that so assuredly. While I'm inclined to agree that the simple existence of Nuclear Weapons will prevent two nuclear powers from going to war, I also believe it's naive to completely dismiss the possibility. Stranger things have literally happened. I mean, for fuck's sake, look at the start of World War I and the intertwined alliances and defense treaties that led to that hell.

Yes, the probability is low that another major war will start. Yes, the likelihood of an Invasion of the United States is next to nill. But to say that the chances are so low that it will never happen is just dumb. You cannot predict geopolitical climates in 20 years. You cannot predict major events that change the world and it's course. We almost had World War 3 quite a few times during the Cold War. While tensions have died down, it doesn't mean they are gone.

I can't legally pack my Rifle with me for a hike despite the mountains around me having illegal pot grows and mountain lions that have attacked people in the past.

Kinda makes the thought of a hike in my local mountains a little less than a fun. Fall is here, temperatures are dying down, and I'd love to go hike a couple places around here, but the threat is a little to high for Mountain Lions.

Never had a problem with any cops. A few of my friends are deputies too. In always diving at night. I see cruisers and their suvs all the time. Still haven't been pulled over.

Saturday night would have been fun if i did. Going home from my buddies house. We had gone shooting then grabbed pizza afterwards. I had 6 guns in various containers in my truck. 4 rifles (one being an ar) in the bed. Pistol behind my bench seat. All legally transported since i had no access to any of them.

The more I stare into the dark abyss of those eyes and that slightly too perfect smile, the more I find myself wondering if I'm going to be dick cheney'd out in the woods if I take her up on the camping trip offer.

Maybe not even dick cheney'd because that smile and those eyes don't say "I'll just shoot you in the back and make it quick."

They say something along the lines of pure unrestrained horror.

I'll pass.

"Your loss cowboy."
