Biden won the debate
Trump was on uppers and I think a drug test should be required for the next debate. Glad to see a sober Biden slaying Trump. The man couldn't even commit to a peaceful respect of the election results. Biden called him a molester, a felon, and the unequivocally worst president in US history. NBC news says Biden was sluggish and didn't win - I strongly disagree. 4

The Flood / New Fallout show is really good« on: April 22, 2024, 01:58:10 AM »Here is the rundown review because I don't want to spend tons of time on my phone typing Setting/Tone A lot can said about this show but the one thing that most professional reviewers (including myself) agree on is that the tone is fabulous. It's spot on Fallout, you've got the same sounds and the hacking interface on the computer screen is the same from the Bethesda Fallout games. You have enough of those pieces of tone but it never feels forced. All the set pieces and the locations look just how they should. Norm exploring the rundown vault felt relatable because all of those sets were so on point. Characters/Acting The show could've had some really boring characters but instead it was decided to make them interesting. Lucy is a perfect Leslie Knope for the apocalypse character and she contrasts well with the more jaded characters of Maximus and the Ghoul. Those two are great examples of how to write a good antihero, treading the line of keeping them sympathetic enough for us while doing bad things. "Everyone wants to save the world - they just disagree on how" is such an iconic line - it perfectly summarizes the franchise, just short of "war never changes" if you ask me. The actors are phenomenal in their roles and are casted appropriately. Chris Parnell as the Vault 4 Director was brilliant, and the actor who played none other than my favorite character of all time is Lucy's dad. Speaking of Lucy, Ella Purnell nails it as I knew she would. I highly recommend the show Yellowjackets where she also shines. Story I think the season is generally well-constructed but does kinda lag a bit in the middle. Some of the plot points feel muddy (why did Dogmeat like the Ghoul so much after he stabbed her - glossed over) But that's nitpicking in a series that's concise and delivers an entertaining narrative. The show really picks up in the last three episodes; I just think they could've done a little more with the middle three. Final Thoughts / Score Overall, Fallout holds up to the source material without a doubt. It emulates the tone, knocks it out of the park, and adds even more to the Fallout franchise. Make no mistake, this is definitive to the games and it has my seal of approval. 9.5 / 10 7

The Flood / Sep7agon.net, I challenge you to do one good thing every day« on: April 03, 2024, 04:10:58 PM »Every day, once a day, you should commit to one good act. Do something you wouldn't have done normally had you not seen this message. That is all. In other news, I hope everyone has been okay lately. I've been watching a lot of Survivor lately. I still love Azula and David Lynch, but right now my main media focus has been The Walking Dead and Invincible. Also - Drake & Josh is honestly a hilarious show and I support Drake. 9

Gaming / I'm playing Halo: CE for the first time« on: June 08, 2023, 01:55:15 PM »So yeah, big confession: while I know the story of the core Halo trilogy and all the tropes and characters and such, I never played Halo: CE or Halo 2 when I was a kid or ever (okay, I played a little Halo 2 on my friends' console iirc, but just multiplayer not campaign). So now that I have the Master Chief Collection and finally bought some more storage space, I figured I'd try to play the first two Halos. I'm starting on CE and oh my god it is fun. I'm surprised at how fun it is for how dated it is. I'm playing MCC which means the anniversary edition, and still I can tell that the visuals and such look 2000s-esque, but the gameplay itself still holds up amazingly. I like fighting Elites instead of Brutes. I didn't play much of the Reach campaign like I did with Halo 3, so fighting Elites instead of Brutes is refreshing. I'm currently on the third level, "The Truth and Reconciliation". Sniping area in the beginning was challenging (playing on Heroic) but still mainly a breeze. But once I boarded the spaceship while my health was low (no health packs to be found before boarding) things took a turn. I now understand the fear of death because of these insanely good invisible Elites. I can't get past the opening part. Best I can do is stand way back in one of those hallways that they spawn in with the sliding door at the front of the hallway, and every time the door opened and no one was there I knew to start shooting. That worked for one life but then they rushed me and got me while I was reloading. Do I have to go out and find something or just survive these waves of enemies? I've watched some of these cutscenes before but not all of them. Excited to get the whole story start-to-finish. Anyway, how have you been? What games have you been playing? 11
The Flood / I'm considering seeing Barbie on opening night« on: June 02, 2023, 04:02:02 AM »
Been too long since I've seen a good movie in theaters and this one looks like a spectacle to say the least. The release date (6/21) is just far enough away to keep my interest, but also to give others around me notice of my intention. So it might be a fun thing to do mid-summer.
What do you all think of this movie? 13

The Flood / The Last of Us is really good« on: January 30, 2023, 02:11:51 PM »
Watched the first couple of episodes and I really like it. It has Bella Ramsey, who plays Hilda, so that's an instant plus. And I finally get to see Pedro Pascal, this new amazing actor, in the flesh. Have heard a LOT about him but haven't seen him in anything because I don't watch Star Wars or Lame of Thrones
But yeah - this feels new. It feels great, just watching the show. Might do a more in-depth review later but rn I'm about to watch episode 3! And oh - I have never played TLOU video game. So this is all coming to me with fresh eyes. 16

Enough time has passed, and we've all gotten older, and I think it's time we let any old grievances go. Why does it matter who on here you had a fight with a year ago?
I'm not here to preach. But this forum is dead enough that we could use all the activity we can get. I for one am going to try to make friends, and make amends, before I try to make enemies. I love you. 18

Sorry I wasn't a standard person. I mean no malice or ever have. Just hope everyone has a damn good holiday
star trek tng is obviously awesome Spoiler but after watching "Yesterday's Tomorrow" which Episode Spoiler brings BACK Tasha fucking Yar and gives her a proper sendoff - all within one of the most well-contained time travel plots ever And I have always had such an aversion to Star Trek TOS. I thought William Shatner was just hamming it up 24/7 and it was lame. Turns out it's a great show with really good characters as well. I watched this episode, which - let me just quote the wikipedia: Quote The episode received widespread critical acclaim and has been frequently stated to be the best episode of the entire Star Trek franchise. Elements such as the tragic ending were highlighted by several reviewers. It won several awards, including the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Episodic Drama on Television (Ellison, 1967) and the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation (Ellison and Pevney, 1968). Such a damn good episode. Suffice to say I'll be watching a lot more TOS from now on lol Spoiler Episode Spoiler This thing is sentient, and talks. So fucking amazing anyway that's been my morning. How are you? 23

Quote With CDI becoming more common, FMT is gaining increasing prominence, with some experts calling for it to become the first-line therapy for CDI.[8] FMT has been used experimentally to treat other gastrointestinal diseases including colitis, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, as well as neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's.[9][10] In the United States, human feces has been regulated as an experimental drug since 2013. In the United Kingdom, FMT regulation is under the remit of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.[11] what the hell YouTube 25

The Flood / A hypothetical for you« on: October 26, 2021, 12:36:53 AM »
There exists a hypothetical Earth. On this Earth is a secluded island. 100 random people from this hypothetical Earth are brought to the island and granted a trillion years of existence - and can end their existence if they wish. In addition, these people never feel pain or suffering.
Unfortunately, this comes with a cost. Every 100 years, a random person from that group is given a choice. The details of that decision are below: Spoiler The first choice: You will be given a permanent existence (that can end at any time you wish), but all of those 99 people are tormented and tortured for that permanency as well. The second choice: You decline, and will not be given permanent existence right there and then. No one will be tortured. But every 100 years, a random person from that society will be given this choice, until the trillion years are up. This takes place on a fictionalized Earth. A person who made the first choice also gains the ability to leave this island of tortured souls and sail away to any other country filled with normal humans - they wouldn't have an eternity of being alone. But those remaining in the society would still be there, on the island, unable to be rescued - forever. Which option would you take? Essentially this is the prisoner's dillemma taken to the extreme. I got inspiration from this hypothetical from Berserk. Also, this isn't a monkey's paw, genie, BS situation. The terms are absolutely clear. If you choose the first option, you're guaranteed to be free from an existence of constant, excruciating pain/torture. All of those "be careful what you wish for!!" tropes are really just there because people get uncomfortable with these kinds of questions. Self-punishing and fearful as we are, we're afraid to look these hypotheticals in the eye, and it's easier to change the premise of the question than to simply answer it. 28

Was watching this live fishtank for hours on Sunday after a particularly stressful weekend. This stingray looked so cool. Went to the wikipedia article for stingrays and pretty much fell apart after browsing different articles for a while.
I don't blame others who have the mental/emotional strength to do what needs to be done to get nutrients but I just can't anymore. It feels like a burden on my soul, and I've felt so much better and less stressed and frentic lately. It's like a load off my mind. I made a calendar post to signify this. I have no doubts that I'll sustain this lifestyle from here on out. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. 29
