Nothing about Ground Zeroes' length as opposed to its price?

Speaking of Wikipedia, remember back in 2001 where they said they hoped to get to 100,000 articles? Yeah, just 100,000.

"Yes...yes. To hold in my hand, a capsule that contained such power. To know that life and death on such a scale was my choice. To know that the tiny pressure on my thumb, enough to break the glass, would end everything. Yes! I would do it! That power would set me up above the gods!"

I only got into it just before it ended, but it was a great show nonetheless.

It's true. Ever played the old NES games? None of that 'infinite continues' handholding bullshit. You make even the slightest fuck up, and you're dead. Do it three times, and you're done.

Ender's game is a series. The movie was based on the first book. I assume they'll make sequel.

Yeah, but virtually everyone who has read EG agrees it worked better as a stand-alone novel.

If this is your first experience with EG, and you didn't read the book, I truly pity you.

Does how you win matter? Or is it simply a case of realpolitik, and winning is the only end.

Winning is what matters in war. The means of doing so are irrelevant, unless of course people uninvolved are suffering for it.

I must admit I hesitate at the idea of genocide, even in the preservation of the human species. Is such an act justifiable?

"Every alternative is preferable," to quote Doctor Church. If it's a battle in which one side will exterminate the other, methods lose meaning. The only thing that matters is that the other side is the one that's gone in the end and not yours.

Spoiler
Ender plays what he believes is a simulation, but is actually the real battle. He ends up completely destroying the homeworld of the Formics - a race of insectoid aliens associated via hive-mind - and becoming depressed at his actions.

The novel explains this much better and leaves more of an impact, in my opinion.

Everyone needs to chill the fuck out.  So Palpatine was given a first name.  Big whoop.
Part of the reason what made The Emperor such a good villain was his veil of anonymity. It was bad enough when the prequels came along and gave us an identity, now pretty much everything's a given with him.

I wouldn't really have a problem with it if they had picked something slightly less ridiculous. I mean, a Roman esque name would've been cool, but Sheev? Seriously? That's what they went for?
Good villain? He's one of the tropiest old bag of tropes to ever represent evil on the big screen.

When Star Wars first came out Sideous and Vader were considered the definition of evil and badass. True, by today's standards they're cookie-cutter villains, but that's only because there's been so many copies of them in today's entertainment industry.

Keeping something a mystery forever is a load of bullcrap.

There's a distinction between keeping something a mystery and not answering a question that doesn't need to be answered.

"Casper" by some douchebags back in middle school, since I was pale as fuck.

"That bastard" by anybody that doesn't know my name but knows my personality.

It was a good trailer, but there's something wrong about seeing the slang term 'OG' in something Godzilla-related.

Unfortunate. You know the story, though?
A cursory glance on Wikipedia tells me it's essentially a criticism of trying to enforce equality of outcome.

Exactly. A (not-so) perfectly equal society, presented as hellishly as it would be if it were real. This thread reminded me of it, so I wondered if you'd read it.

Out of curiosity, I assume you've read Harrison Bergeron?
I'm ashamed to admit I've never read anything by Vonnegut.

Unfortunate. You know the story, though?

No, nobody denies that people have differences in their ability.

Out of curiosity, I assume you've read Harrison Bergeron?
