It's like Captain America. He faces people with superior abilities but he's a martial arts genius and kicks their ass.
Yeah, but Captain America is superhuman candycoated as peak-human. Snake is just a really, really good soldier at the end of the day, while Fox is the product of like three different supersoldier programs alongside his seniority at fighting. The guy is a ninja Terminator; there's only so much that a really good soldier can do against something like that.
I just assume Snake is better because he's BB's clone
A supposedly inferior clone, though. Not that that means much, given the overall message of the series. Plus he probably wasn't in full on ninja mode I mean he wanted to die. Might have been holding back a bit.
That's the best explanation I can come up with, too.
