I hear Kojima clarified in an interview that Liquid had no clue what he was talking about when he ranted about genes and asymmetry theory, but that doesn't lay the whole gene thing to rest because Solid was flat-out stated by Ocelot to be inferior.

Liquid wanted to prove he was better than his brother and father, which was all part of the Patriots' plan because everything is part of the Patriots' plan. In hindsight I guess a lifetime of being told his only reason for existing was to be inferior to Solid would leave him extremely bitter about his life.
Solidus was just an uberpatriot who wanted to leave his mark on history.

presumably things like 20/20 vision, predisposition to physical attributes like agility and strength, instincts and stuff could make one superior to the other
fortunately that doesn't matter
I wonder why Liquid was so pissed off about his genes in the first place. He was an indestructible blonde Brit with a sexy accent and an IQ of 180; what does he have to feel inferior about?Though I guess it makes sense how he was actually superior given the above description.

In MGS1 Meryl was the rookie in way over her head, who needed Snake to bail her out whenever she stumbled blindly into danger, and she had no personal reason to be on Shadow Moses aside from it being a mission...just like Raiden.
In MGS2 Olga was a cynical, unshaven badass who growled out one-liners and was far more competent than Raiden as well as she had a much more personal reason to be on the Big Shell...just like Snake.
i think that's a bit of a stretch tbh

They're intentionally recycled characters in MGS2.
Except Raiden and Meryl have different genitalia, and Olga has tits while Snake doesn't.

raiden was never alluded to being a meryl reskin
Solidus was never alluded to being a Liquid reskin, but he was. In terms of personality and role in the plot, Raiden = Meryl, and Olga = Snake...and Fox too I guess.

I disagree. Honestly I liked him in MGS2, but I thought he was shit in 4 for being too broody. Broody characters come off as annoying to me anyway.
Revengence they at least gave him his sense of humor back, which is important. Only annoyance was that "Jack the Ripper" thing.
