You ever just forget how to play a song that you've played a million times before?

No, but frequently I'll forget the title to a song that I like and then go through the lyrics in my mind until I come across the line the title appears in.

Sometimes I forget how to swallow when I'm eating. Then the food just sits in the back of my mouth and I wonder how I get it to go down.

I also occasionally forget which way the number four is written.

Imagine getting a tranquilizer dart in the eye, and getting tranq juice pumped straight into your retina. That'd knock anyone the fuck out for sure.

so who were those two guys in the hospital in the beginning

one looked kinda like psycho mantis

was the other volgin?

Spoiler
Yes to both. The Man on Fire is Volgin's corpse resurrected by Kid Mantis.
thats fucking radical

Spoiler
Which raises the question of why Mantis wasn't that powerful in MGS. We see him make zombies, throw around a fifty-foot-tall mech, teleport around and pull all sorts of shit as a kid, so why was he weaker as an adult?

I mean, I know the answer is the fact that MGS is almost twenty years old, but I can't stop puzzling over this.

Harvest was the only good book

Prove me wrong

Cryptum was shit. Primordium was shit dipped in vomit and then had another, wetter shit drizzled onto it. Silentium was really good, though.

There's only room for two in the love box, so I choose Snake. <3

If Snake isn't around then Goji would be welcome too. Wherever he is.

Apparently TPP's collector's edition mentions stuff about a cut mission that was kind of huge to the plot.

Spoiler
Supposedly you were going to track down Eli and Kid Mantis, who had stolen Metal Gear Salamander or Salmonella or Salisbury Steak or whatever it's called, then destroy it and defeat the two FOXHOUND brats.

Thanks for that Boss!
Welcome home, Boss!

There is a reason they keep saying his name.

« on: September 03, 2015, 12:38:39 PM »
Why can the Covenant speak English, and why do they? Especially during battle?

They have translators built into their suits or something. I assume they aren't really speaking English when talking to each other in cutscenes, but it's translated for the player because then they'd have to focus on subtitles instead of the scene itself.

Gaming / Re: So how come they only call the MC 'The Demon'

The Covenant refer to any particularly strong adversary as a demon. This includes all Spartans and some regular humans. In ODST you can sometimes hear them call you an 'imp' - a smaller but still deadly demon.

Spoiler
There's a good reason Kaz and Ocelot kept repeating their briefings and orders so frequently - to keep Venom Snake hypnotized into being Big Boss. I really liked that detail.

Spoiler
The whole body double thing also explains why the Genome Soldier project in Solid failed - they didn't have Big Boss' DNA, they had Venom Snake's. Presumably if they had the original Big Boss' genes it would have worked perfectly.

Jesus fucking Christ.

Just beat the game, guys.

My impressions below (spoiler-free, but very opinionated):

Spoiler
-I don't know if I liked the ending or not
-I was disappointed with the story
-gameplay is flawless
-felt incredibly short for a Metal Gear game (though perhaps that's because there's less than 2 hours of cutscenes)
-there was a LOT of stuff cut from this game. Several scenes from some of the trailers are just missing,  which is a damn shame
-Quiet is a shit character and I do not feel bad for my words and deeds, Kojima. No good reason for her to look like that
-story is poorly told

Honestly all I'm feeling right now is disappointment. The game is really fucking fun but I play MG for the story, and it feels like we're given no context to anything we do after Africa.

It's technically proficient enough to be considered one of the best games of all time, the story just holds it back a lot.

Spoiler
Yeah, that ending was divisive. At least we have a better reason for how Big Boss 'survived' the events of Outer Heaven, though. Kind of an anticlimactic end for Venom Snake, though.

She was set on fire twice. Wearing anything on the parts that were burned away would be excruciating. That said, there's no reason her entire upper body isn't scarred to hell aside from fanservice.

Did you notice that Ocelot always opted for the fun route, while Kaz kept trying to discourage it? 'Kill Quiet, she's worthless to us.' 'No don't, she has mad sick powers, yo.' 'Don't listen to Huey, head back on foot.' 'No, Boss, take his sweet roller-mech-thing instead'.

I'm honestly just waiting to see where Miller has a falling out with Big Boss.

Because in Metal Gear 2, he calls him a monster and urges Snake to kill him. I feel that needs a LOT of clarification.

He was referring to Big Boss' bionic implants.

lol what a fucking dumb cutscene, according to the Canaan, most Spartans died during the training, these enhanced ODST Spartans should have been unconscious during the free fall.

'Cept instead of a bunch of little brats these are veteran badasses from the most highly trained and skilled non-augmented branch of the military.

no

Oh.

My gripe is the Boss doesn't speak much unless it's cutscenes, and even then it's not much.

Still, I like the cassette tapes, so it's fine.

Kojima was going for the immersive silent protagonist thing, like Master Chief. Sutherland's acting is pretty good when he does talk.

Seems like doing this would really ruin the experience.

Elaborate pls

If this is true, you won't be conscious much longer. Let us know when the hallucinations start, so we can contact a hospital.

If I ever fall into a coma, I want to wake up to hot nurse tits. Venom Snake is a lucky man.

4406
Also they better mention the NCR/Legion war somewhere in the game. .....the bear needs influence in the Commonwealth.
It's 2600 miles away and FO4 is apparently taking place before/during the time of FONV.

So uhh... no. It wouldn't be relevant in a world that was reset.
Was there ever a canon ending to FONV? Or is it just something that will never be continued? :c
I don't think there is a canon ending. I always go Independent. It probably won't be mentioned in detail in future games.

They're all the canon ending.

Now go wrap your mind around that.

what does that get you?

The prisoners you rescue show up at Mother Base so you have some progress already done at the start.

So anyway now we know the reason Quiet is dressed as she is. Rather excruciating to think about. I think she should have at least some scars, though.
