Why can the Covenant speak English, and why do they? Especially during battle?
IIRC in Halos 2 & 3 the explanation was real-time translation provided by Chief's suit. In Halo 5 it's apparently to show that Jul M'dama is losing grip of his forces and they're protesting him by speaking the humans' language.

But I don't think that explains the aliens simply lacking the physiology to speak English. (Four mouth flaps with teeth doesn't seem practical in any universe, but it's better to not think about these things >.>)
Some Sangheili can speak English, and do so by pressing their mandibles together to form "lips". The Arbiter is one example, I believe Jul M'dama is another.
Neat, I didn't think of that.

...But wait, do they have tongues?
That I do not know.

They have trouble with a few human letters though.

F and P give them some difficulty.

That while 'Fillis' thing was a reference to Red vs Blue, if anyone cares. I found it interesting.

I wonder why Quiet doesn't carry anybody. She can sprint at like a hundred miles an hour, so she should be able to extract people far more efficiently.

Paz-related spoilers
I hear Paz actually died from the vagibomb, and the one you see at Mother Base is just a hallucination.

That's just what I've heard, though.

Boobies are literally key to her survival, you monster.

Don't worry! I bring the water gun with me and periodically shoot her in the face.

I just realized that she has a legitimate reason to enter a wet shirt contest.

I demand a Quiet Wet Shirt Contest DLC mission.

His voice and

Paz's squeaky high voice
are so god damn annoying.
I was legit annoyed when I read his backstory post Phantom Pain.

The dude can rot in hell for all I care. He's a cunt. His son is a way better man than he is.

Yeah, but I liked him being the Otacon of the '70s. All he needed was a drugged out voice and some brightly-colored clothes and we'd have a Hippycon on our hands.

Instead he turned into a complete maniac. Even Skull Face was disgusted with him. What fucked him up so badly during those nine years?

i wonder when the hallucinations will kick in.

I'm wearing the bandana, so I'm all good don't worry.

You'll regret your words and deeds when you find out the bandanna itself is a hallucination.

You've complained about various other things in the franchise - Solid Snake's inability to commit suicide, Quiet's attire, MGS5's lackluster story. I take it you think your judgement is better than Kojima's too, then?

Damn.

You're absolutely right.

I apologise and concede to your argument.

Thank you very much.

But seriously though, go to bed. Staying up for fifty hours straight is a terrible idea, even if it means playing Metal Gear.

Too easy for reflex mode? It's more difficult without it. Actually, it's only difficult without it.

I was quoting you.

But I honestly don't have the energy to argue this. I've been awake for... quite some time.

I have no idea what point you're trying to make. How does my dislike of reflex mode equate to me thinking I know better than Kojima? You've complained about various other things in the franchise - Solid Snake's inability to commit suicide, Quiet's attire, MGS5's lackluster story. I take it you think your judgement is better than Kojima's too, then?

Get some sleep, Saladin. You'll be less cranky when you wake up.

Also, I feel the bandada doesn't match Big Boss in this game. He threw it out with The Boss at the end of Peace Walker anyway, signalling he was ready to let go and choose his own path (which he basically says).

I always felt it was more fitting for Solid, who wears it for... whatever reason.

Keeping his hair out of his eyes and reducing glare.

What you're telling me is that you think you're judgement is better than Kojima's?

No, that's what you took out of my post. I never said anything of the sort.

>with MGSV Kojima had 5+ year development period, plus 25 years of experience behind that making these kind of games
>has been tweaking the game for months on end, even going so far as to saying that he doesn't want to play MGSV after release because it would be too difficult because he'll want to tweak some more
>includes reflex mode
>"the game is too easy for reflex mode"

Let's not pretend you didn't mean that.

Too easy for reflex mode? It's more difficult without it. Actually, it's only difficult without it.

Personal opinion as to the game design isn't a matter of objective judgement given no two people want the game designed the exact same way. He included a game mechanic I don't like, but fortunately he also included the option of turning it off. But I guess you're right in that I implied that I have a better idea of what I want in a Metal Gear game than he does...because, y'know, I do.

Whenever you get caught by a guard, everything around you slows down. You can then kill them before they can alert anything else.
Reminds me of Fallout 3's VATS. A bullshit mechanic that I hate, but everyone else seems to love it.

Yeah, I avoided using that, too.

(I have no idea what it even is)

Whenever you get caught by a guard, everything around you slows down. You can then kill them before they can alert anything else.

It's not a bad idea in theory, but it gives you five full seconds where they're completely immobile and defenseless and you can pick them off with about as much effort as scratching your ass. Stealth becomes irrelevant for most of the game because nobody can hurt you or call in backup.

And since MGS5 focuses more on gameplay than story, it's a damned good thing this can be turned off, because everything else is flawless. (Or so I heard. I only played Ground Zeroes, but TPP is the same thing with more stuff so I assume it's even better.)

Also take off reflex mode.
More like bitch mode amirite? It makes the whole game a cakewalk.
I'm assuming it's on by default if you guys are talking about turning it off.

Whatever it is, I hate shit like that--because I prefer playing on default settings, I tend to have these inner debates about whether to turn off shit that makes the game easier--but then you're just making the game unnecessarily harder.

What's the point in playing if there's no challenge involved and you can just breeze through everything? Turning bitchflex mode off makes the game a proper game where there's a possibility of losing.
