Heaven wasn't my kind of place anyway.

There's no room for angels in our heaven.

You do realize threads like this only cause people to make fun of you more, right?

I don't care what they do.

Then why did you make this thread? It's a perpetuated cycle. You complain about some slight against you - real or not - which causes people to genuinely mock you, which causes you to complain. Let's call it the Deci Effect.

If you really, truly, honestly shut the fuck up about all the shit you get, then nobody will have any reason to give you shit.

Nothing works. In case you haven't realized. I have to defend myself. Always.

More often than not you're trying to deflect a joke. Learn to laugh with people. Self-deprecation is the most respectable form of humor.

He looks straight out of a spaghetti western.

Which is why I really wanted him to meet and fight Ocelot. They're both cowboys with a penchant for torture who want to tear down the Patriots, have an obsession with Big Boss, easily manipulate the cast into carrying out their goals (leading Big Boss away from Mother Base for Skull Face, basically everything in MGS4 for Ocelot),
Spoiler
and both get what they want in the end - Skull Face succeeds in bringing Zero down by rendering him a vegetable, and Ocelot resurrected Big Boss as well as got his world at war.

I think his voice actor did an amazing job, but he wasn't very well-characterised in TPP and sometimes had a tendency to overexaggerate.

Spoiler
"Such a lust for revenge. Who!!??!"

I really liked his hamminess. He's an over-the-top villain for an over-the-top series, even if it's an anticlimactic end.

Seems all this talk of masturbation killed the conversation.

Back on topic, would anyone have preferred it if Skull Face were somebody already seen in the series back for revenge, or did you like him as a brand new character?

I spent the last few minutes of my teenage years masturbating.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with Metal Gear, but I thought I'd share anyway.
I laughed too hard at this.

You should do that too. Time it so you orgasm exactly as the clock strikes 12. Start a new decade of your life right.

I was looking up the release dates for all the games, and I was surprised to see that a bunch of games in the series were released in America before they were released in Japan. Why is that?

Because Metal Gear is more popular in America than it is in Japan.

I thought that too but then I got called out on Twitter about it

It is, though. Metal Gear sells fairly well in its home country, but the west, boy oh boy, the west can't get enough fucking Metal Gear.

Spoiler
Yeah I can kinda see how Big Boss seems more like a fuckhead now. He essentially used one of his own guys as a human shield to die while he went off to do his own thing. No wonder Venom goes off the deep end. I have a sneaky feeling that tape he left him was to make him think that he was special when really, he's just using him.
Spoiler
Not to mention that they essentially brainwashed a human being for absolutely no good reason. Like, he was made into Big Boss against his will.
Spoiler
Yeah it does seem like a shitty thing to do.
'Btw you're Big Boss now cya lol'

The more I think about it though, it doesn't actually bother me that much. Sure, I was really excited to play as Big Boss again and see how he goes bad, but Venom Snake seems like an interesting character and we do KIND OF see BB as a manipulative bastard. It's just a shame we didn't really see a buildup to it or a payoff. Hell, even some more tapes on it would be nice.

I don't agree with the decision but I think that complaining about it too much will only make it worse. We've already had like 3 games to play as Big Boss, this is something different.

Spoiler
I don't mind playing as Ahab. I think he has the potential to be an even better character than any of the Snakes.
But the game advertised that we'd be getting revenge, that we'd become demons in outer heaven, that we'd learn the secret to the greatest MGS mystery.

We didn't do any of that. Except maybe revenge, but that was wholly underwhelming.

In fairness, a lot of the game must have been cut due to Kojima's falling out with Konami. Not that this changes the fact that we were outright lied to by the advertisements, mind you.

Big Boss needed a decoy octopus while he was building his Heaven. Perhaps he expected the Medic to understand, given the Medic was his most loyal and trusted soldier?

Spoiler
Zero was trying to redeem himself the whole time and reconcile with his old friend, and Big Boss ended him thinking he was still just a tired old monster who never realized how much harm he caused. It's rather heartrending.

Spoiler
MGS4 already established that, though.

I hate how MGSV paints Big Boss as the "good guy", though. He's not. Peace Walker was supposed to establish that, after he felt like The Boss betrayed him. And MGSV was supposed to show us his fall from grace as a good guy.
Spoiler
Remember how we all thought MGSV would show his descent into villainy? I'm still wondering why he turned bad, it doesn't really explain it. Why was he at Zanzibarland, picking up where Venom Snake left off?

Spoiler
I guess Venom Snake kinda sorta maybe went evil if you kill every soldier and off every target instead of fultoning them back to Mother Base, but not really. Big Boss was building Outer Heaven behind the scenes and probably had a much more interesting story of his own, but it looks like we'll never know for sure.

So, at the end
Spoiler
Venom Snake goes rogue, decides to build Outer Heaven into a military fortress, and Big Boss sends David in to kill him?

Spoiler
Meanwhile Eli and George are struggling to be relevant but won't be until about a decade later when there's nobody left to be more important than them.
I wonder what George was like as a kid.

Spoiler

Disruptive.

Y'know what I wanted to see?

Ocelot vs Skull Face, one on one. The latter was basically just an evil(er) version of the former. Do they meet each other at all in the game?

I'm just saying there's no reason to make the distinction between the Snakes from a gameplay perspective.

I was joking about that.

I want a game from Liquid's point of view. I guess it wouldn't work, though, given Liquid is indestructible and nobody wants to play a game they can't lose.

Just as indestructable as the other Snakes as well.

I mean really, everyone is invincible until they die.

In the space of about five minutes Liquid took a beating from Solid, fell three stories and outright stated it would have killed Solid if he did the same, got shot dozens of times while chasing Solid and Meryl, got into a car crash, succumbed to FOXDIE, got back up, and finally succumbed again. That's not counting the Hind-D crash he got out of with do harm whatsoever.

And he didn't show any sign of discomfort until the car crash. Plot immortality aside, he makes the other Snakes look like they're made of tissue paper.
